Shonen Jump wouldn't publish it if it were meant to be JUST battles and bitterness.
Dai Grepher: Yu-gi-oh. If they are not dueling then they are talking about people losing their souls.

I can't watch the show dubbed just because I've been watching it subbed for so long and have gotten used to the voices. Also, if you've ever read the manga or watched the fansubbed anime, then you'd realize that later on in the series these "useless and meaningless" characters come into play later on.
The notion of going Berserk (getting really mad and unleashing full power) is an old cliche in anime. It's also a classic one in Japan. I don't complain about content being cut-out to make it suitable for American audiences but i do complain about all the people that fuss about it just because it isn't american. Okay, so something happened in the show that you didn't understand or thought was stupid, whoop-dee-freaking-doo, the show was created IN JAPAN and therefore FOR A JAPANESE AUDIENCE... the things that they find funny aren't always what we find funny and we don't always understand what they're talking about. It's kind of like if we sent over Scooby-Doo... some of the humor might not be understood.
If you don't enjoy the show then don't watch it, but don't watch it just because you want to be able to bash other people on how much you think it sucks.

So, I went ahead in watched it, again in pursuit of an anime I would like that wasn't too dirty, too "Eastern philosophy" whatever, or would insult my intelligence. This one was none of those things, but I still didn't like it that much.
Because it KINDA insults my intelligence with that simplistic dialogue, but that's not a big deal, I like the old Pokemons for crying out loud, so what could it be?
The show was SO darned slow it hurt my brain. And they have a few minutes "recap" of the old show as part of the next one. In particular, I watched the one where Naruto was trying to free his sensei from that water bubble where...oh gosh, I don't remember his name, the guy that sounds like Steven Blum.
Anyway, it was so slow, and while visually stimulating, didn't offer anything terribly different from other average anime I'd seen style-wise.
Still, it's not as bad as Zatch Bell or Inu-Yasha. (Yes, I despise that show,) so I'm content. I'll give it a view or two when I'm bored, but I'm not going to tune in on a regular basis.
