It isn't, Bond. That's the point. They just wanted to keep eating to make themselves stronger, even if they couldn't hold it. That, and they're obsessed with outdoing each other, including in how much they can eat. The actual point of the episode was for them to learn to control their chakra to climb a tree.

No, they ate like that because it makes children laugh. It is still a kid's cartoon in Japan remember. They consider that to be funny or something.

Oh, c'mon. You sound more like you're embarassed to watch the show and risk looking like a kid, than looking like you dislike the show for its style or general content. One scene where they stuff their faces, which is followed in a couple episodes by a battle with angsty, bloody, deathy stuff, etc. It's not supposed to be just a strict drama- it has to have some lighthearted moments as well. Shonen Jump wouldn't publish it if it were meant to be JUST battles and bitterness.

Dai Grepher: Yu-gi-oh. If they are not dueling then they are talking about people losing their souls.

Eating like that wasn't put there just to be funny to little kids. Like Chik said, if you followed the series then you'd understand that Naruto and Sasuke are always trying to outdo one another. Eating was just another way of trying to do better than the other and, hey, guess what happens if you eat too much, too fast, YOU THROW UP! Omg I can't believe it. I'm sure if they didn't throw up in the show people would be out complaining "Zomg there is no possible way to eat that much without puking" so there really is no winning situation there.

I can't watch the show dubbed just because I've been watching it subbed for so long and have gotten used to the voices. Also, if you've ever read the manga or watched the fansubbed anime, then you'd realize that later on in the series these "useless and meaningless" characters come into play later on.

The notion of going Berserk (getting really mad and unleashing full power) is an old cliche in anime. It's also a classic one in Japan. I don't complain about content being cut-out to make it suitable for American audiences but i do complain about all the people that fuss about it just because it isn't american. Okay, so something happened in the show that you didn't understand or thought was stupid, whoop-dee-freaking-doo, the show was created IN JAPAN and therefore FOR A JAPANESE AUDIENCE... the things that they find funny aren't always what we find funny and we don't always understand what they're talking about. It's kind of like if we sent over Scooby-Doo... some of the humor might not be understood.

If you don't enjoy the show then don't watch it, but don't watch it just because you want to be able to bash other people on how much you think it sucks.

Why would I be embarressed to watch this show? That's pretty ridiculous to say. This show is pretty dumb. And that is what I think. I just don't like this show. I'm sure a lot of you here don't like some shows yourself....

You said you'd only seen one episode, correct? That means that you don't like that episode, not that the entire show is dumb. ;)

One thing about anime is that you can't judge it based on the first few episodes... for the most part they all have they're boring first few episodes to build up characters and plots for later on in the show. If you don't like a certain episode then it doesn't reall effect the whole anime

Well Chik I actually have watched other episodes in the past to tell you the truth. I watch that show when there was nothing better to do. Though next time instead of watching that show I'll stare at the wall. ;)

XD I think watching even a bad show would be more entertaining than a wall... plus nobody is forcing you to watch it so you can always just change channels. Just a suggestion =P

Okay, time for my two cents. When I saw this, I didn't think it was a "kid's" anime. I suppose it is now that I've seen more of it, but when I first saw it, I thought it was an unusually clean adult anime.

So, I went ahead in watched it, again in pursuit of an anime I would like that wasn't too dirty, too "Eastern philosophy" whatever, or would insult my intelligence. This one was none of those things, but I still didn't like it that much.

Because it KINDA insults my intelligence with that simplistic dialogue, but that's not a big deal, I like the old Pokemons for crying out loud, so what could it be?

The show was SO darned slow it hurt my brain. And they have a few minutes "recap" of the old show as part of the next one. In particular, I watched the one where Naruto was trying to free his sensei from that water bubble where...oh gosh, I don't remember his name, the guy that sounds like Steven Blum.

Anyway, it was so slow, and while visually stimulating, didn't offer anything terribly different from other average anime I'd seen style-wise.

Still, it's not as bad as Zatch Bell or Inu-Yasha. (Yes, I despise that show,) so I'm content. I'll give it a view or two when I'm bored, but I'm not going to tune in on a regular basis.

I actually like the Naruto dub. Think it was very well done.

I think some of the voices are ok and decent..I just watched the whole thing in Japanese so I became attached to the Japanese voice actors..and to all of a sudden see it..well voiced by somebody else and just butchering the way characters names are said..*shudders* Especially sad that after going to an anime con..and just hearing people..saying the title..*shudders*
