DaHustla...you've been told this before- its against the Rules to assist in illegal downloading (including linking to Torrent sites as far as I'm concerned), so don't try it with your 'Animenuke' or anything else. At least not on the main forums- go to PM or IM for that. ;)

Anyway, well...the voice acting itself was decent, but the voices just didn't seem to fit. I've watched 150 episodes of the show in Japanese, and even if I hadn't, the voice actors abilities to actually pronounce Japanese words/names downright SUCKED. Naruto's name was pronounced entirely differently (as with most of their names), and for the most part it felt like the actors were trying way too hard to speak exactly with the movements of the characters lips. o.x Probably doesn't help that the woman Imdb had listed as playing Naruto has an incredibly short acting resume, and only a couple are even voice acting.

That, and it was hilarious to see their blood-editting. For instance: they editted out Iruka getting a nosebleed over Naruto's Sexy Jutsu, but they couldn't edit out the blood on his leg from being stabbed by a kunai, or on his back from a giant shuriken. Which only meant that...it made absolutely no sense why Iruka had tissue shoved up his nose. XP I'm incredibly afraid of how LITTLE sense the show's gonna make when they get into some of the higher episodes, where battles and bloodshed are sometimes constant. The most important thing I can think of keeps coming up- this is NOT a young kid's show. There's too much violence and death for it to be on such an early time block, and I don't know how they'll get away with it later on..at least not without a lot of editting of blood, and perhaps story.

i fear for humanity to see all this great anime (naruto, samurai champloo, scryed, etc, etc) getting ruined by being translated and edited in horrid ways -.-

it's almost like they just take out all the audio and try to come up with a story as it goes along *stabs stupid people that dub and edit good (and bad) anime*

i'll stick to the manga and fansubs

Awwww, Arme- tell me exactly how they've ruined Champloo. I mean, really. Although I've only gotten to see one episode of it in English (the first), it has Steve Blum, Kirk Thornton, and Kari Wahlgren. All of these are seasoned veteran voice actors.

Naruto...dear lord. I've never even HEARD of Maile Flanagan, and I certainly haven't seen anything with her in it. Then again, I'm beginning to extremely doubt Imdb, as they've gone through three or four different names that they claimed were going to be the English voice of Kakashi. And what the heck is with Cartoon Networks proclamation of "Ninja 101: Class is in session"? The kid finishing actually going to school in the first episode. XP

Or listening to Konohamaru explain that his name is based off the ancient name of their village- does this mean that they're going to be calling it "Village Hidden Among the Leaves" for the rest of its dubbed existance? I'd think just "Konoha" would be easier to say. Right now I'm just having the most trouble with the pronunciation of names, though. *shiver* They really don't need to make that U in Naruto's name so...long sounding. x.x

And Mystic Kitsune- I just meant that I watch the fansubs, like half of the rest of LA who has the means to. Not meaning to advertise for Torrent or anything...but it does come in handy, and there's plenty of all-purpose sites where you can...acquire episodes, as well as some sites that specialize in a particular anime series. ^^;

I thought it sounded childish, myself...until I actually watched it, and realized it has about the same maturity level as InuYasha. Yes- there's plenty out there that's also more mature than InuYasha, but both it and Naruto have enough blood, death, battle, evil, and all that good angsty stuff (plus a very fair dose of friendship and comedy) to keep me well entertained. ;)

But Naruto's voice was absolute shit.

*nod nod* You said it most eloquently, Flint. o.o Naruto's voice and the mere word "Naruto" coming out of mouths accustomed to using American hard vowels...was...torturous.

150 episodes of naruto have come out (151 this wednesday) and they have all been great (for the most part)

i haven't seen the show on cartoon network yet but i saw a preview for it on one of their toonami commercials and i heard naruto talk... it made me want to cry bloody tears.

seriously... why must they choose such horrid voice actors ; ;

again though, i'll stick to my fansubbed anime and manga

edit} jr, not much really changes but even little changes thourhg the story can change the meaning in the long run... they probably won't say ero-sennin (perverted old man) on cartoon network and change it to something like loving master or something retarded. it will take out the humor. plus they edit things out that shoudln't be edited and leave in things that coudl have been which makes it look even more retarded

I watched eps 1-50 subbed a while back and I thouroughly enjoyed it, though at times the battles dragged out forever and seems a little like DBZ.

Because there have been only two episodes aired on Cartoon Network so far, and most of the important characters in the show haven't even been formally introduced (including all of the kids who graduated to Genin with Naruto, his greatest enemies, and his greatest teachers...so just about everyone)...well, we can have really no idea how much they might change to make it more appropriate for 'younger audiences'. C'mon- the two people who will be most pivotal to Naruto's education are a careless guy who reads dirty novels...and an old pervert who writes them (when not peeping on bathing girls). There's a lot of blood when they get into battles.

It just...doesn't feel right for Toonami to me. XP They're gonna haveta edit both the discussions on the Ero-Sennin's perverted nature..and a lot of the messier material. I can't imagine what they're going to do for the backflashes of when one of the kids found his entire clan violently murdered, including his parents. Or when one of the ninja is forced to go into an illusionary world where he's stabbed over and over by katana. Or when the wonderful but entirely infamous Gaara of the Sand shows up, crushing people in a coffin of moving sand.

At least Cartoon Network usually isn't...too bad with editting- for instance: the most noticeable things different in Rurouni Kenshin were less blood, Saitoh going from smoking a cigarette to it sometimes being a toothpick, and a few seconds being taken out of one or two fights to not show some of the more violent attacks (such as Kenshin being held in the air with a belt around his neck while Saitoh attempts to strangle him or break his neck). I won't even get started on how much blood was obviously editted out of Dragonball Z (not that I watched too much of it).

But yes...Naruto's got 150 episodes in Japan- and I'm hearing that the dubbed DVDs coming out in America will NOT have the extra editting that the tv version has. But you'll still haveta put up with...that voice. As Toan mentioned to me earlier, from the little bit of dubbed Naruto he could stand to watch before changing the channel to end his suffering, (and as I had been thinking anyway...) dubbed Naruto sounds like Ash Ketcham from Pokemon. And it really, really dun work. XD

As for number of episodes: Inu Yasha had 167 by the time it was cancelled, DBZ had...too many to count...Pokemon has had HOW many seasons now? Naruto is apparently on something like its 7th or 8th season, but that's not...toooo out there for a cartoon or anime. ;)

well when he's being stabbed theres not any blood.... but stil, 72 hours of it all within 1 second is pretty painful ><

technically there aren't "seasons" in Japan liek we have here. they make an episode each week unless something else is taking up the time slot, in which case they usually have a double episode later to make up for it...

plus naruto is starting to get near the end-ish with the anime catching up quickly to the manga they will either have to finish it or take a few month break to catch up.

if you really wanna watch it and don't have any other way of seeing it other than cartoon network then go for it. as long as they don't pull a dbz on it with some of the dubbing and translations then it shoudln't be to bad (ok, yes it will but just to make your guys feel better >.>)

i just wish they left the original songs as the opening and closing =

<3 Akeboshi's Wind

I know! I kept staring in disgust at whatever it was they had for the opening and closing themes for the dubbed- I mean yes, Wind is sung in English by a Japanese man who may not have sounded entirely clear to our ears, but I couldn't even comprehend whatever the opening theme for the dubbed version was trying to say, supposedly in very American English. If anyone here ever wants any of the music for Naruto (the real stuff, not the dubbed themes), get in contact with me. *shifty eyes* I have my ways of...helping you get to it.

Don't get me started on dubbed Naruto. First of all: Too early. I could tell from the Manga that it's more for the Adult Swim crowd; Secondly, voice-acting's all wrong. I could tell just by hearing Naruto's voice that they totally dropped the ball on that one; Third, dialogue. There's going to be of editing and changes there; Fourth, blood and violence. Again, there's going to be a lot of editing there; And lastly, humor. Now I thought it was pretty funny at times, but most of the comedic parts were completely ruined by the dubbing.

We're not talking about the first couple episodes when refering to the "72 hours of stabbing in one second". That's something that comes up muuuch later. (I think that episode is in the 60's or 70's?)

However, you are right in that Iruka had some blood on his back where the shuriken hit him, and some on his leg from the kunai. It's just that all nosebleeds, flying blood, or spitting out of blood was editted out- and if even the ~nosebleeds~ from Naruto turning into a naked girl are taken out, then that hasta make us wonder how much else will be taken out.

That would be 82 or 83. Actually, I don't know how they will tie in Itachi or anyone from Akatsuki for that matter. I also remember seeing somewhere that only 52 episodes were bought.

I watched the dub and meh, I really don't care, but the first time I here someone say Shadow-Replication justu or whatever...gets hit...

Although my first concern for censor is Haku, I don't know how cross dressing will be handled.

Oh, dear lord. They'd better not turn Haku into a girl. I've been more concerned about them trying to clean up the fight that Sasuke and Naruto have against Haku, though, and that Kakashi has against Zabuza. (And you were right- it's episode 82 that the weird other-worldly thing with all the stabbing takes place).

As for only 52 episodes being bought...I'd understand initially, because they don't want to spend a fortune on buying up too many and risking it bombing on tv. The only problem is that Cartoon Network has had a dirty habit in the past of never buying MORE of that show- so you end up in the middle of a fight or some important quest, and realize that next week they're starting the show over from the beginning again. If there ARE only 52 episodes...that's before Naruto even meets Jiraiya.
