That...and Matt and TK making food for their dad out of wasabi and something green growing in the back of the fridge, while the poor man insisted that he was a happy little buffalo.
*cough* So I only remember the really random moments? XD

But that's because there was HUMAN interaction (Koji and Koichi) that ran very deep. J.P. and Tommy were two of the best acted "Digimon kids" I'd ever seen. All in all, it was no Tamers, but it wasn't BAD.
Koji and Koichi are both clones of Ken with a messed up Matt/TK bond. Takuya was just the Goggle Kid with none of the redeeming qualities or hidden wit that the others had, Zoe was just a stereotype, Tommy was a TK clone, except stupider, and J.P. was just a fat kid with chocolate.
Seriously, the Digimon-Human bond is important, it makes up more than HALF the show! Not to mention all the villans were being controlled by Lucemon, who didn't even make sense. I mean, it would be different if they explained HOW he got corrupted with power or something, but naw. He's just the messed up angel with unoriginal digivolution names. The digimon that WERE in this show were even MORE one-sided than the ones in the first two series, and the children's learning experiences didn't even come CLOSE to match the ones the other Chosen Children's. (Not counting Tamers, since they wiped the floor with everyone else in character depth). I mean, Takuya doesn't really learn anything, Koji and Koichi's problems were seen a mile away, and all the others had like, the same lesson. And this digicode scanning thing? WTF? I'm sorry, but that's just out there. One of the few cool parts was the fact that Koichi was pulling a Shibumi on us, but even then, he got ripped off. The other kids were SEVERELY overshadowed by our Gogglehead/Rival counterparts for this season. Takuya and Koji got like, what, 3 levels ahead of everyone else? Good God, they even messed up the whole unity thing. They tried at the end to fix it, but they failed simply because Koichi wasn't there for the final battle. Hell, he wasn't there for even half the series. He was a goddamned throw-away plot device. CALUMON did his job better than this loser Kaiser-Klone. And there were lots of plotholes in this season too that they never even addressed, like why did Cherubimon hide his own soldiers' beast spirits? Why did Takuya turn into a Flamon when he went back to Earth, and why did he go back in TIME? O.o It was a severely screeeeeeeeewed up version of Tai's visit to Earth. BASICALLY what I'm saying is that it's a rehash of old plot elements poorly executed, and the original ones are probably pot-induced.

So see? Not too bad.
And waddaya mean, Lucemon the villain? Cherubimon was the REAL villain.

Zoe was much more of a brat than Izumi, and Takuya once again was more stupid in the dub.

Tough Guy? He's a fatarse comic book geek that eats chocolate all day. I can totally see him get his Spirit. "Worst Spirit Ev-ar!"J.P. was a "tough guy" who'd never developed social skills, depsite what the others think, and uses bribes to get others to like him, as well as boasting about how mature he is.
And waddaya mean, Lucemon the villain? Cherubimon was the REAL villain.
Holy SH%T! Did you even WATCH the whole season? Lucemon was pulling the strings the whole time. Cherubimon was a literal puppet.

anyway, i thought frontier (i refuse to use 'season' names for separate series, you n00bs) had the best comedy (come on, it's about time they did underwear jokes on a regular basis), but otherwise digimon 02 had the best drama... tamers was the most emotional.. and honestly digimon adventure had the best art. i miss them resembling sonic characters.

And excuse me, I meant J. P. THINKS he's tough.

If I have to compliment each season for something, I guess I will...
1. Started it all. Had a very innocent childlike appeal to it that makes it easy to watch without freezing or shifting in your seat like some anime.
2. Had the most realistic character reactions. The people, for the most part, acted like normal folks. They were a lot older than your typical Digidestined. Overall, though, I was disappointed in this one.
3. The most gripping, dramatic, realistic setting-wise, and tear-jerking of them all.
4. Was very different. It had a new spin on the Digi-universe that people hadn't seen before, causing a love-hate thing. I liked it. We get to see what normal people that don't have a digi-partner can do to save this more apocalyptic version of the Digi-world. Nice backstory.
Overall, 3 pwns all, 1 is a refreshing season, 4 is different in a good way methinks, and 2 was just alright, it lacked spice.

if you want depth and real emotion, go watch something like Ghost in the Shell, JinRoh, GunGrave or even Cowboy Bebop. if you want to just kick back relax and not think, watch digimon or pokemon. but for goodness's sake, don't try to pass off various anime as something their not.
im gonna go watch some trippy late-night uber-artsy anime now.

Cowboy Bebop, and I'm assuming those others, are overly vulgar and cheesy, not deep. Most anime has never been very deep.
Pokemon is shallow, yes. It's like Scooby, it ends the same stupid way every time, but if you're bored, it's fun to watch!
Digimon season 1 is nuch the same, only better because it's imaginative to a T. Season two was lacking, but okay. It carried the cheesy traits of most anime.
But you have obviously not seen three, or you would not be saying what you're saying at all. And if you consider it not good enough to watch, I'd had to see the hentai on TV you're watching. I like to keep my mind cleared of that crap. *awaits flames*

Of course, writers for any show - I'll use Transformers Generation 1 as the "western" equivalent again - will always try to sneak in some semblance of story and whatnot into the ads. Whether it be the basic, bare bones debate of gods or a sly nod at The Most Dangerous Game, the writers always managed to sneak things in all while making sure that x-character is used in this episode and this other character is debuted here in the next show. Even so, the writers hands are tied since all that story, all that plot is pretty much secondary - the bottom line is to make sure people see Optimus Prime combine with Wing Saber, and that Tidal Wave's 30th repaint is snuck onto the screen so kids will want it.
Besides, you have to admit, it's a brilliant marketing tool - Pokemon has managed to even make me purchase the 6 movies thus far and I intend to get the 7th on Tuesday. I don't do it because I want a good story - that's just laughable - I do it because...hey, it's fun for me. I know lots of people don't like it, but I do because frankly, after either drudging through a week of classes and cruddy hours of work, all this talk of death and dreary pasts coming back to haunt a jerk of a main character...is a bit much.
By the way...
But you have obviously not seen three, or you would not be saying what you're saying at all. And if you consider it not good enough to watch, I'd had to see the hentai on TV you're watching. I like to keep my mind cleared of that crap. *awaits flames
...it would've gone better if you yourself hadn't thrown that rather...shallow attempt of an insult out, plus it would behoove you not to assume certain things. We're all entitled to our opinions here, and she clearly gave a short-but-sweet blurb that backed up hers of Digimon. To pathetically strike back with that brilliant line is not only immature, but fairly desperate and is not a good reflection.
