the gerudo take hylian boyfriend because their both human races. The gorons, rito, koroks, and zora are not human. human-like, but not human. and ruto can still want to marry link, but i don't think they could have babies.

It's so bizarre to me the way you all talk about the various races interbreeding and and who's having what babies. I don't even think of the Zelda reality in those terms. It's so whimsical those kind of real-world conventions and constraints never even cross my mind.

Like when Xena did a guest spot on the Simpsons and answered fan questions about plot inconsistencies: when you notice something like that you can't explain, a wizard did it.

That line is imfamous, it's often used to fanwank contrivances away. Unfortunately, the wizards are all usually involved in Zelda debates, and if we were to fanwank away plot contrivances every time we see one, there'd only be one Link and all the games would take place in quick succession.

Lol! I don't see what the big deal about this topic is either. As many Zelda mysteries as have been created since the 80's, more have been answered. Wait, maybe 2005 will answer the Zora question!

I don't know if this is canon or whatever but in the Japanese TWW site, Laruto is described as the last of the Zora race, which were wiped out completely by Ganon in his Red Wrath.

Mm-hm. That's canon. I THINK it's in her speech too, don't quote me on that.

Isn't there some birdy race in the OoT Manga? Could they have interbred with Zoras (they were probably already related through evolution) to speed up the process of evolution? Anyway, Medli talks about how they had to use hookshots when they didn't have wings. Strangely, they remember and have artifacts from a time before they had wings. There is a fish/bird drawing in the post office. If Valoo gives them their wings, he probably magically changed their collective form too, like the Deku did the Kokiri.

That's canon alright. Perhaps the Medli being more duck-like because she's the only Zora theory has something else to back it up. MJ, if possible, could you look for more stuff on the japanese site to see if there's more information about other matters not revealed in the game itself? I'd like find out more about this stuff so I can have more accurate theories involving TWW. I'm changing my mind about ALL the Rito being the Zora now that I've heard this. I think the Zora may be extinct in TWW.

How is a website canon? It's completely external to the narrative of the games.
You lot know that the UK minish cap microsite stated that TMC link was the hero of time right? I really don't think you want to consider the official websites canon.

Like a fish... and a bird.

So you're saying there were Ritos in OoT? I do think there's some Hylian and Terminian in the Rito blood though, as they seem more link People/Birds then Birds. There are the postman references. Ruto+Postman=lots of litte fishies+time+magic=Rito race.

Heh. There've been running postmen in Hyrule too (TMC), maybe it's a postman son of the Running Man, either way, I'm sticking with that. For now.

i bet th creators didnt have a theory whethr they evolved. they probably just wanted to make a new kind of character for a new game. get over it.

Here's a theory that I don't think anyone has mentioned before - Maybe the rito are the Wind Tribe from tMC! :P

I have no evidence for that, especially since I haven't played tMC yet - although I have seen a sprite of a Wind Tribe person who seemed to have a beak...

Yeah, they're all human.
But...
Maybe they eventually evolved into the Ritos because they were so high up in the sky, ala Kokiri-Koroks. And with the Gorons gone from Death Mountain...

That's what I ment, Vazor20X6, although I didn't really make it clear enough - we know that there was a time before the Rito evolved wings, when they used the grappling hooks to get around.

er, those guys in the manga were called the watarara, and they bore a striking resemblance to the rito.. to the point that i'm sure they were taken from the preliminary tww works before they were finalized, and thus ought to be overlapped canon-wise.
hmm... much as i don't agree the rito have their origins in the zora, let's not forget that the water temple had a hookshot in it.. <.<
oh wait, that's lake hylia though, not the zoras' domain.. perhaps the pre-rito used to worship in that temple? tee hee. the temples are so silly.... located where nobody lives.. or logically ever lived... to use..

Zora's live in Lake Hylia too. I think they even worship at the Water Temple too but I'm not sure. What I find rather interesting is that the Earth Temple correlates with the Water Temple if you compare the OoT Map with the TWW map. Suddenly, Laruto being the Earth Sage makes sense.

That's why I wasn't sure. But considering how all the other character descriptions were accurate, I'd say it's info is pretty reliable.

BTW: I think I know what Zythe is talking about.
