Kain and Dante acted simutaneously, both jumping into the air with a flip. It was almost if they had the whole act choreographed with the technique. While Kain pulled the Soul Reaver out in a grinding yank, Dante let a stream of fire flow from his hands, turning the beast into a large mobile torch.
Dante grabbed onto a tree in mid-jump, allowing Kain to have his glory now. Kain brought his sword down, cutting the beast to the bone. The alignment of the Reaver changed quickly to that of ice, freezing the beast's leg.
Just then, a newcomer landed on the branch closest to Dante. Dante stared curiously at him, but had no time, nor necessarily the need to question him. He already knew of the thing's intentions. It was the one Kain was dreaming about, Raziel.
Letting out a gritty yell, Raziel demanded that Kain move.
"Kain, Move, NOW!" and with that, Raziel let the symbiotic Soul Reaver unravel from his arm, lunging downward at the beast. As soon as he did so, he landed softly on the ground, and used his telekinetic powers to lift the beast from the ground. He pulled down his shroud, revealing no jaw bone nor much of a throat either. An blood-curdling sound came from Raziel, the once proud vampire.
A white essence fled from the beast, which Raziel devoured hungrily. When the beast reamin still and lifeless, Raziel let his grip on him go and the beast fell to the ground with a tremendous thud. Raziel put the shroud back on and swung around to see Kain, face to face.
"What kind of mayhem have you been causing here, Kain?" Raziel asked, sounding serious, but merely joking. But not exactly friendly joking. Raziel and Kain were allies, but they were never what you would call friends.
