-~*/ The Chronicles of Dentavi: Far Reach *~-

Throughout history, tales have been told. Tales of heroes, stories of might and magic.
The continent of Dentavi has many such stories. This is one of them...

_

The mid-morning sun shone it's light on the fields and forests below. It also shone on a young boy. The child was seventeen winters old, and had long red and black hair that stopped past his shoulder blades. A beautifully forged sword in it's sheath was tucked into the boy's belt, and a lower quality dirk was right behind his boot. His name is Ken Amasimay, a wandering boy. He had been up since dawn, and had been walking the path for the past few hours.

Right now, he was talking with his... inner demon, pun quite intended.

'Raiyu, as much as I like to hear you rant on about how much you want to "Strangle that bastard of a barkeeper!", could you please talk about something a bit less... violent?' the youth thought in his head.

came the internal response.

'I didn't know you cared.' Ken chided

the demon said with disdain.

Ken chuckled.

Raiyu demanded.

'I remember you saying that once before.'

'Ah yes, I remember it quite well.'

An apperation appeared next to Ken. The appearation had long hair, and wore a traditional Nohin garment. But the most noticable thing about him were the wolf ears poking through his hair. It Raiyu's spirit, taking on a human-esque form.

"What?! What is it that you are talking about?!?!" the demon demanded.

The boy stopped and looked to the demons spirit beside him.

"I remember a certain time when you took on your temperary form just to grab a barmaid's-"

"I SWEAR THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!"

Ken had a good, hearty laugh.

"It isen't funny you little brat!!!"

After a minute, Ken calmed down and left the demon steaming.

"*hee hee* Anyway, you should get back in me Raiyu, I think the next town is coming up soon."

Raiyu mumbled a few things, then disapeared. The boy felt that strange, but familier sensation of sharing his body with the demon's soul.

Sure enough, as Ken crossed the next hill, his eyes graced upon the town of Harmony. This town was important in history for being the place where the first Eporue-Nohin treaty was signed.

As Ken walked to the town, Raiyu thought to himself.

The wolf demon swore he was going soft. The child was impertanent, and in another lifetime, would of killed the child for possesing such knowledge. However, Raiyu cared for Ken, almost on the same basis as a father would for his son.

Ken reached the gates of the town, and walked through. The town was busseling with merchants and traders of all sorts, selling everything from sickles to swords. There were some well armed people too, mercenaries.

Ken and Raiyu had heard about what had been happening in neutral territory. About an unnamed group through and destroying everything in their path.

"Well, maybe today will turn out to be quite interesting..." Ken thought aloud to himself.

A whispering wind sifted through the trees of the forest, and the trees swayed lightly. A benourhound, a demon dog that fed on scraps left behind by previous kills of more noble animals, feasted on the remains of a stag that had been dead a number of days.

Another breeze blew and with a swish, a cut in space appeared right in front of the hound.

It glowed an eerie green and white. A man, or at least white looked like a man, stepped through the tear in time and space.

The man, which was acctually no man at all, had long white hair that flowed past his shoulders. His body, which was that of even the finest athlete's, was ghostly pale. The green eyes of the man seemed to glow as the tear did. His ruby red lips made his skin look even more white.

The man, once fully through the tear, put his sword, which glowed the same green at the moment, back in its strap. The man had nothing but a some tight black pants, a single utility strap made of armor across his chest, and a metal belt which carried a pouch on the side. All of his attire was black.

The hound looked at the man curoiusly as the tear quickly disappear just how it appeared. The reared its legs, thinking it was going to have a easy meal practically handed to him. It jumped towards him, jaws spread open. The man's hand, with lightning fast reflexes, shot up and caught the hound in mid air. He threw the dog down against the dirt.

The hound immediately took off deeper into the forest, yelping into the darkness. The grinned as he reached into his puch and pulled out a long crimson cloak and hung it over himself, as he stepped toward the area he saw light coming from. As he nearred the edge of the forest, he smirked.

Kain had entered this world.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Dante sat at a stool in the local tavern in Harmony. He had a tankert of fire ale, a drink that they literally serve while on fire. Although it was not too strong, it did clear the sinuses.

He finished his drink and laid down two silver coins for the drink. HE turned and proceeded out of the dark tavern into the day. He glanced down the alley at all the merchants who were busily shouting and running around trying sells their materials. The tall orange-haired man slowly walked away from the tavern into the alley, taking in all that he saw.

He pulled his orange overcoat over his blade, and buttoned it. HE looked like royalty walking along the streets in the bright coat. Everyone else was wearing dark, dirty clothes while he wore this brilliant coat. Even if he tried, he would not be able to divert attention drawn to him by his clothes.

As Ken walked down the streets, his gaze was drawn to a tavern entrance. More precisely, the person who was exiting the tavern. His clothing made him stick out like a sore thumb.

'Wow, that guy must be a noble.' Ken thought to himself.

Raiyu added on.

The man had attracted several eyes towards him.

'What do we do now then?'

Ken then broke from what looked like a deep thinking to anyone who would care to look. Taking one more glance at the noble-like man, Ken wandered if he would see him again. The boy then set his consentration on the task before him, seeing if there was anything useful here to buy.

Kain slipped through the shadows of the forest most stealthily. He sensed someone towards the edge of the woulds, and then he heard them not to far away. He walked more slowly and took on a form of mist and drifted slowly toward the two people on the edge of the wood.

As he neared, he saw a collection of money satchels and metal cups that they had undoubtedly stole. He neared them, getting closer and closer. HE finally was within mere inches of them. The two theives stood there, counting the objects and putting absurd prices on them to resale them at market.

Kain hunger rose, for he had not eaten in some time. He took on his material form right behind one of them. The other, who was facing his partner in crime, became wide-eyed in fear as the cloaked figure that was Kain appeared right behind his counterpart.

Kain reared his arm back and plunged through the theif infront of him, as the other criminal turned and ran into the field toward a city in the distance. Kain's hand, which had impaled the body completely, held the robber's bloody heart, which was still beating.

HE dropped it on the ground and retracted his hand. He grabbed the man, who was now dead, and dove his fangs into his neck. He drank from the lifeless body as it twitched from nerves that were not yet dead.

He dropped the body on the ground, after sucking it dry. He looked into the distance and strill saw the helpless soul of the other man running toward the village. He smirked and disappeared in a flash of red light, reappearing right in front of the man in the field. He grabbed the horrorstruck man and sank his teeth into him.

The man, still being alive, let out a scream that echoed throughout the field and probably beyond into the city ahead. He drank from the man until he could drink no more. He had bled this man dry also. HE dropped the body, which also twitched onto the ground.

He then looked to the town, knowing someone had to have heard the screams of the theif in it. He launched himself into the air, jumping an incredible distance to the city walls. HE landed on it like a cat, and dropped beyond the walls into the city.

He landed in what seemed to be a back alley. He sneered and a nearby puddle of water. Although he was immuned to it, he still did not like it, nor did he like the sun. Most vampires are damaged by both, but in Kain's realm of life, he was the most evolved vampire ever. He was the king of his kind.

He started walking down the alley, into the noisy city streets ahead, still with a blood red cloak, hiding his features from view.

In a small forest in the country of Eporue, in a clearing by the way, sat two archers one female and the other male. They were siblings and lived in the village in the shadow of the capital. The woman was playing her harp and the man was laying down with his face toward the sky listening. They were the only elven archers so far in this country, and sometimes wonders if there are more of their kind around.

The man sighed. "I love to hear you play Arwen, it could bring peace if people want it. But sometimes their mind is always in the opposite direction."

She continued to play as she replied to her brother. "I really don't think people can change if they are raised around a certian idea. I really don't like fighting so I decided to do something else that could ease peoples minds in this troubled time."

"And you are doing a fantastic job of it.."

"Thanks Bowen."

A small wind blew across Arwen's face, brushing the long strands of blond hair behind her. Her violet eyes shone as the sun hits them. Bowen closed his blue eyes and put his hands behind his shoulder length blond hair and slowly drifted off as Arwen starts to sing.

Dante wandered around the busy street, looking from table to table for anything that caught his eye, even though he wasn't looking for anything.

He saw a troubled looking boy eye him, and felt a curious tingle, as if he was not a boy at all, or at least not completely. The boy couldn't have been more than 18, but his mental powers continued to tell him something was strange. He refused to delve into the boy's mind to see what was going on, even though he sincerely wanted to.

The boy tore his gaze away and went about his business, looking from table to table. Dante continued about his business, trying keep himself from reading the boy's thoughts.

He walked by the opening to a dark alley, and saw a lone cloaked figure coming toward the street.

He looked away, then felt an ominous stare being returned to his gaze down the alley only moments ago. His eyes shot right back down the alley were he saw the figure, but no one was there.

He continued on, slightly concerned about what he just felt.

Ken's head shot up from examining at a market stall and looked around.

'What was that? I think I heard a scream'

Raiyu warned.

'What could have happened...?' Ken wondered, his eyebrows furrowed.

the violence craved wolf demon said.

The boy tensed up, keeping his senses tuned around him. Going on, he continued on to another stall.

This one was selling pendents, evidently, they had different charms placed on them. The merchant wore the usual grubby clothing expected from a commoner.

"Hello there young lad, anything I can interest in?" the merchant asked.

"Not really, I'm just taking a look." Ken responded.

"Hmm, well, Why don't you try this holy pendent on. It's said to repel demons. Really popular among travelers." the merchant said holding up the neckware.

Ken began to feel to feel a little sick. He sensed Raiyu's extreme discomfort as well.

"N-no thanks." Ken said pushing the pendent back.

"If you insist..." the merchant spoke, returning the pendent onto a shelf.

"Do you have anything else?" Ken asked.

"I do have this..." the merchant pulled out a pendent.

The boy's eyes went wide and snatched it ou of the merchant's hands, examining it.

"Sir, how much will you sell this for?" Ken asked with much excitement in his voice.

"You really want that? Well, you can have for five silver coins. It really isen't much..."

Ken threw down the coins neccasary to purchase it. He them immediately hung it around his neck.

"Thank you sir!" the boy said with a bow.

Ken walked away from the stall, looking at the pendent.

'I didn't know one these still existed!' he thought to himself.

Raiyu didn't bother responding. For he knew the importance of that pendent to the boy.

Kain, now on top of one of the city street buildings, looked around and examined the man who just caught his eye. A man in bright clothing, walking along the streets catching many people's eye.

Kain had immediately jumped up on top of the building after galncing at this man from the alley. He felt discomfort at this being's stare.

He waited until the man had rounded the bend in the street and jumped back down to the alley and stepped out into the market. He glanced from table to table looking at objects lying on them. Most of them looking rather primitive compared to items in Nosgoth.

He bumped into a boy, that seemed to be talking to himself as he left an amulet booth with a pendant artound his neck.

"Watch it, Boy!" Kain snarled as he glared at the teen from inside of his hood.

Ken shrunk back a little bit from the cloaked man.

"S-sorry." the boy apologized sheepishly.

Raiyu scolded.

'I was overexcited Raiyu and I ran into him, I-' Ken thought to his companion.

Ken blinked several times. The boy's body language took a shift from it's original one of humility to a more rough one. He lifted his head up, the iris of his eyes a yellowish color.

Raiyu now controlled the body.

"Yes, I am very sorry... For not shoving you into a mud-puddle where insolent cur like you belong!" the wolf demon spoke in the Ken's voice.

( ooc: I would post the link to his bio up, but it no longer exists, it was on the old forums and I no longer have a copy of it. But he is an old wind elemental, a strong one.)

George was sitting down trying to avoid the dust from passers by getting into his eyes. He was wearing a grey cloak, and some undergaments. He didn't have much money, barely enough to buy enough food for a meal, but what he had was hidden in a place that few people would go.

Life was pretty dull, on this hot, dusty day until he saw what may have been a fight about to break out. It was between a mere boy, and a guy with weird grey hair. Set to be an interesting battle, if anything did happen.

George didn't move, lest he attract attention to himself.

Kain noticed a change in the boy's attitude and even in the glimmer of his eyes.

"It would be best to keep loose lips shut. That is, unless you wish to be lying in a shallow grave..." Kain said with a grin.

"Only people who wish to threaten me speak to me in a manner like that, and I can assure you, it would be the last time you would utter a word." Kain announced in a growl as his eyes began began to flicker and change to a blood red.

He stretched his fingers, awaiting the first move from this stranger so he could reach for the Soul Reaver, which was strapped to his back.

"Heh, you've got your head in the clouds. I'd like to see your bark match your bite!"

The demon reached the sword Wolfen tucked in his belt.

Ken's spirit mentally scolded.

'What?!'

To an outside audience, it would appear that the boy was hesitant to draw his sword.

'Very well.' Raiyu resigned.

As Ken regained control. He went into a more open stance, taking his hand away from his blade's hilt. The child's eye's regained their normal hue.

"Let's take this outside the town. I don't want bystanders to be hurt in this dispute." Ken spoke.

"Normally, I would say that i do not have time for such arrogance and pestilence, but in your case, I do think I will make an exception!" Kain taunted as he smirked. HE turned, and his cloak flowed as he began into a steady stride.

"As a matter of fact, meet me outside of the city gates. I will give you time to debate the fatal mistake you are about to make" He laughed, as he turned and headed towards the dark alley he came out of only moments ago.

Once he had reached the wall, he leapt into the sky and over the mighty barrier. He floated down from his height and hit the ground with a soft crunch of earth. He looked ahead and saw an enormous gate.

"That must be the city gates..." he spoke to himself. he walked casually towards it and arrived in what seemed to be no time at all. Once he arrived, he shed his red cloak and returned it to its satchel.

He stood there, nearly glowing in the daylight with his pale skin. His long white hair blew gently in the breeze. His lean muscles glistening against the beating light.

He stood there with his sword strapped to his back, ready for whatever may come.

-------------------------------------

Dante had just seen a most peculiar scene. Shortly after seeing the strange man in the alley, he had spun around to see the same man confronting the boy he had met eyes with only moments ago.

But there was something different about the boy this time, he seemed not to be the same person. The boy then seemed to gain his composure again and challenged the man to what seemed like a duel outside of the city.

Knowing nothing good could come of this, he walked as quick as he could towards the exit to the city. His overcoat blew in the wind as he made his way there, revelaing the tip of his blade.

He hoped to prevent a tragedy from happening.

'I hope your happy Raiyu.' Ken thought to the demon.

Raiyu was in truth feeling guilty. He understood the boy wanted violence to be the last resort, and to dodge danger before it could happen.

'Well it's too late now...'

As Ken walked towards the gates, he glanced down at the pendent he was so eager to buy. It was a pendent which beheld the symbol of his hometown, and was said to bring good luck. Such pendents that were made in his village required a fine art, and could only be made by master craftsmen sadly, the child never knew how to make one. Even if it was fake, it still ment something to him...

As he walked outside the gates, he tucked the pendent under the tunic.
Ken turned and faced the man.

"I know it's too late to say this, but... Please, stand down! I don't want meaningless bloodshed!"

"I am impressed by how a child like yourself can say such big words in the face of death. However, if that is your way to ask for salvation, then you may turn and leave." Kain said, as the wind picked up, making his hair whip. He drew the Soul Reaver from its back strap.

"Or, you may stay and meet your demise." And with that, the Soul Reaver's wavy blade began to glow an airy white as air began to expell itself from it. Kain had attuned it to the power of wind.

-----------------------------

Dante followed the youth to the gates, and then stepped into the shadows. He whispered in some language that was incomprehensible to any existing entity in the universe.

"Romal trando!"

With these words, he was engulfed in fire. When the fire died, he looked like a poor beggar. He stepped outside the gates and saw the two people who were speaking heatedly. he knelt down beside the gate and started to rant, as if he had gone mad. He knew that neither of the two mortals would be able to think anything strange about a crazy beggar who had wondered out of the city.

He could also this way prevent any possible violence between the two. He somehow felt connected to them, as if they were part of the reason he was in this world.

George saw the possible fight move outside, and he didn't like this, he no longer had a front row seat. But with his old body, he wouldn't have been able to see much anyway. So he changed.

George was now in his prefered state, as a hawk. He was perched in a tree that was far away enough to be inconspicious, yet with his eyes, he could see everything going on.Some may call this perverted, but he didn't mind, he just loved a little bit of exitement everynow and then.

Ken was glad he was given a choice in the matter.

"I-I'm sorry for what I said. I honestly can't be held responsible for everything that comes out of my mouth, as pathetic as it may sound..."

The boy gave a bow of respect.

"It is my fault that this incident occured. Before I leave, I ask of your forgiveness..."

Raiyu had a mix of feelings. He was angry for Ken not fighting the man. However, the demon felt a weird vibe coming from the man. Raiyu then knew the boy was making a good decision in showing humility.

"Well, for admiting your impulse of arrogance, I will let you live." Kain said, as the sword's white aura began to fade, he replaced it on his back.

"But know this. I am not one to be trifled with." Kain spoke again. As he opened his mouth, he felt an odd twinge. He did not know exactly what it was, but he knew it was coming from the boy. He opened his mouth to speak again, but closed it.

"What is it about you?" he asked. It was all he could manage to get out. Something was different about the boy compared to other people in this world. There was a different air about him.

-----------

Dante, who was disguised as a crazed beggar, stopped his soft ranting for a moment to listen on what the youth had to say. He also wanted to know the answer to the broad question asked by the pale stranger.

He started listening to them so hard, he forgot he had cast a spell. With his lack of concentration, the disguise started to fade away, and he looked how he had in the street earlier.

His brightly colored overcoat came back, along with his spikey orange hair. He did not even realize this. His attention was turned on the conversation being held not-so far away.

"Hm?" Ken grunted, mildly confused.

'Raiyu, do you think he's referring to you?'

"I, uh..." Ken started to mutter. Then his attention was diverted near the gates, where what appeared to be a crazed begger seem to dissolve away, revealing the form of the royal-looking man Ken saw earlier in the town.

"W-what the?!" the boy stuttered.

Dante's eyes widened. The conversation had ended, and the boy looked his way with a confused and suprised expression on his face.

Dante looked at his hand, and then he noticed the lavishly colored coat of his. It had come back because he started ignoring his spell and dropped his concentration.

"Damn!" Dante whispered to himself. How could he be that stupid? He had never done something so stupid before.

He began to stand up, throwing his shoulders back in the process. HE had already been discovered, so he couldn't hide it anymore.

"Damn, Damn, Damn! What was I thinking?" he asked himself as he began to walk towards the two slowly.

As the the brightly dressed man approached the others, Ken and Raiyu were nervous.

'He is obviously a magic user...' the boy thought as he tensed up.

"I'm called Dante, that is all you really need to know for right now. But I think, the question of the moment would be more so Who, or what, are you?" Dante said, feeling slightly more triumphant now than before.

Dante eyed the pale man, precautiously, still feeling a negative aura from him. He surveyed the man, ready to question him next.

---------------------------------------------------

Kain sneered at the man. Kain, having a past of numerous murders, was not as mean as he appeared. But, as many say, appearance is how you are judged. Kain knew this, which meant Dante probably already thought badly of him, and he didn't blame him.

Ken felt rather nervous, indecisive, and most of all scared. However Raiyu helped the boy.

the demon comforted

'Okay...'

The boy took in a deep breath and closed his eyes.

"I am is Ken Amasimay, I wander wherever fate seems to think is best for me..."

Ken gulped and took another breath. He only hoped they wouldn't want him dead for this.

"...and this is my guardian and companion, Raiyu the Wolf Demon."

Out from behind Ken appeared Raiyu in his more human form, the same one he took earlier.

He appeared to be a 25-year-old man. He had long grey hair going down to his heels, with wolf ears of the same grey shade poking out through his hair on top of his head. His arms were folded, covered by his garment. The demon wore a traditional Nohin garment, made from red and black threads.

Kain huffed and drew the Soul Reaver from his back.

"What sorcery is this?" Kain snarled through his clenched fangs.

---------------------------------------

Dante, more so intrigued by the separation of the two more so than anything, smiled lightly.

He looked over at Kain.

"Calm yourself, vampire." Dante commanded, knowing the appearance of one sinc ehe had encountered many weker ones before.

"It is merely a conjoined spirit of two. The two have been together since birth, most likely even before." Dante told the Kain as he slowly began to lower his blade.

"Would I be correct, young man?" Dante asked ken, looking beck to the boy with the waivering spirit beside him.

"It is true..." Ken answered.

The demon spirit stepped forward.

"I share the boy's body with him. However, I get to control whenever I want. That isen't very often as it turns out."

Raiyu then turned to the vampire, Kain.

"Oh, and I still think you look better in a mud puddle." the demon said with a fanged smile.

Kain's eyes shot to the waivering spectral demon.

"Heh, would you prefer to test that theory." Kain sneered as he tightened his grip on the Soul Reaver.

-----------------------

Dante instantly tried to interrupt the possible confrontation.

"There is a reason we are all here, centralized in a single place. I alone do not have knowlege as to why this is. We have a collection of individuals here, including a feathered friend that has been evading our perception for the passed few minutes."

Dante's eyes shot to the tree in the distance were the hawk was perched. HE turned back towards the group.

"I believe we are meant to be here. I was pulled to this world through no power of my own, and i doubt the chances of a meeting of power like this is likely." Dante finished surveying everyone in the group.

Ken had himself fully recollected when he heard what Dante said.

"Your right..." he thought outloud

The boy stepped forward.

"It can't be mere coincidence, maybe it has something to do that group destroying everything in middle territory... From what I've heard, this town is right in their path." Ken wondered, pointing in the direction of the town."

Ken looked up at Raiyu, who was still giving the vampire the same look. Grabbing a fistful of the wolf demon's hair, Ken yanked Raiyu back.

"AAH!!!!!"

"Raiyu, as much as you might want to fight, now isen't the time." the boy scolded.

(Same for my characters ... sorry I didn't mention it before.)

Night was starting to fall on the clearing and Bowen awoke. With a stretch he sat up and looked at Arwen, she sat where she did when he fell asleep.

"It's getting late Bowen, and I'm getting a bad feeling staying here."

"Your right Arwen, lets head back home."

Bowen stood up and grabbed his bow/quiver of arrows as he did; Arwen did the same, shouldering the bow/arrows and holding the harp under her right arm. So far their village was peacefull, but both Arwen and Bowen knows that this peace will soon be broken .... nothing can last forever in this world and nothing ever could for people won't let changes take place.

Bowen has started to accept his sister's strange feelings for they are always on the button; meaning that whatever she feels most likely will become reality.

"I had another vision a while ago, and it wasn't pleasent at all." She shivered at the thought, and Bowen wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

"I won't let anything happen to you. I promised mom and dad that I will protect you, and I shall to my dying breath."

"I must agree. If what you two say is true, then now is a time to strategize about the possible onslaught coming." Kain spoke while replacing the sword to its strap.

"what kind of group are we dealing with? Bandits, or something more?" Kain continued to remain calm, but his hunger was starting to grow at the talk of violence. His thirst grew with his hostility, so when he speaks of fights, he begins to want blood.

----------------------------

Dante looked at the vampire.

"Before we do begin to speak of strategies, I think more proper introductions are in order for myself as well as you vampire." Dante calmly spoke.

"I am Dante, as I already said. What I did not say is that from my previous realm of existence I was the God of Fire. I thought you all should know since we will all be fighting by each other's sides." Dante spoke as he pulled the firey red crystal on a leather strap around his neck from underneath his shirt.

It glowed extremely brightly.

-------------------

"Well, since the circumstances call for it, I will tell you only what you need to know." Kain said as he glared back at the Dante.

"I am Kain, the King of Vampires and Sion of Balance in my land of Nosgoth. My sword..." Kain withdrew his sword once again from his back. "is the Soul Reaver. Is has the power to consume the spirits and sould of those it kills. It also has many font it can align itself with to aid me in my quest, whatever that may be." He stopped.

Kain suddenly feared he had said to much, but then a calming sensation came over him. He felt comfortable around these people suddenly. He was not on his guard perpetually around them.

"Well, I already introduced me and Raiyu, but I do have my own specialized weapon..." Ken spoke.

Gently, he drew his sword and displayed it. It was a curved broadsword, and had arcane markings etched into it's surface.

"This is my sword, Wolfen. I smithed myself from a special ore I found. There's a few things I don't even know what it does yet. However, I have heard that the ore I made it from is said to react to one's soul."

The boy put his weapon away.

"As for the group I mentioned, nobody is quite sure who they are. They're unnamed, and have been going through, destroying everything in their path, showing know mercy to any who cross their path. From what I've heard though, survivors say their army is lead by a man wielding a holy sword. But whoever they are, even if they may be bandits, they have large numbers. They've already killed four great leaders."
