Right, so I've been caught in the crosshairs of Amiibo fever. It's horrible and I love it. I currently own a SSB Link, aiming to get a Pit, Mega Man, Ness and Lucina by the end of it. Luke-warm about the Super Mario Bros. set that's coming out later this year but that's mostly aimed towards Mario Party 10.

My current hunt for Pit has taken me to eBay, been hunting down a suitable bid that won't take me over $25 but even that makes me feel sad on the inside.

Post them if you got 'em.

As of now, I don't have any Amiibos, but I like the Super Mario series Peach Amiibo's pose better than the Smash one, so I think I'll be getting that one when it's available.

I have the fever and hate it. I only own Link, Zelda, and Marth for now but have Toon Link on preorder.

I really want to track down Captain Falcon. And I'm excited for Robin and Ike on the horizon. I just sort of wish they had female Robin alt amiibos because I just like Robin as a woman better.

I preordered Toon Link because he looks awesome.  Kind of interested in Dedede and Ness, the former because he's fun to play in Smash, and the latter because OMG official Earthbound merch.

My roomies have collectively gotten Pikachu, Kirby, Yoshi, and Samus.

I wasn't intending to go all in, but when I grabbed Mario, Link and Samus, I started to warm up to the idea. With how tough it suddenly became to get Marth and co, I immediately changed my mind.

Still, I really want to get a Captain Falcon, at least, and a couple other guys. I won't lie - I want the Captain because I want my Mii in Mario Kart 8 to have his outfit.

Yeah I was planning to avoid it. But now I have Link, Zelda, Samus, Pit, Captain Falcon, DK, and Diddy Kong. I have several of the next wave on reserve too...

I'm glad I held off on Mario characters though. The new Mario ones coming out look better. I'm glad Nintendo is moving away from 'let's do impractical official art poses!" to stuff that don't need silly plastic supports to look good.

Been on eBay for the past two days sifting through one auction after another, slowly feeling nothing but rage towards scalpers who would buy 5 of a character only to sell them for triple the price. Trying to find Pit is slowly killing me, but Capt. Falcon appears to have better luck at being a level price (considering). I haven't looked into characters like Little Mac or Villager because I don't want to enter a frenzied rage over scalping. I want to score a Pit now for a lower price, just so I can undercut some scalping bastard out there. That would be the sweetest of victories.

My inner collector would love to get into Amiibos, but I'm trying my hardest to stay out of the whole thing. I already know I'll sink way too much money into it.

I wasn't big on them myself, thinking I'd only get a few 'til I managed to grab Samus and Luigi since I'm at least a casual fan of both their series, and I liked Luigi's planking pose. While I havn't played so much of Fire Emblem I love the character designs and have long enjoyed playing as Marth in smash so I was disapointed when I couldn't find him, though thankfully a friend in the UK sent me one she found in a store. I suppose that's what I get for not being on the hunt for them the moment they came out the gate, which is a real bummer, along with the lack of Gamecube controller adapters.

I've got Shulk, Mega Man and Ike standing by on preorder, and I'm looking to catch Rosalina, Lucario, and Lucina if I can help it. My eyes are out for Pit, though I doubt I'll actually see him.

I've been kicking myself over a lone Wii Fit Trainer I saw in meijer about a month ago and didn't go for, since they've gone the way of the scalpers, and I know some folks who have wanted her.

I might pick up a Samus one as it's so pretty, but many of them have really ugly transparent bits to put them in a pose which I don't like. Otherwise I'd already own the Link one.

Pre-ordered Lucina and Ness on a Japanese website referred by the amiibo subreddit. I now have back-ups in case Gamestop can't pull through when wave 4 pre-orders start. Still can't find a Pit that isn't over $30. Tempted to just give in, but then eBay wins. The search continues.

Yeah, the scalping thing is really bothering me.  It's like Beanie Babies all over again.  Unfortunately, scalping will continue to happen as long as there's demand and people who are willing to drop an inflated amount of money on the product.

I'd say just be patient.  One of a few things can/may/will happen: People can stop paying stupid amounts of money for things, forcing scalpers to sit on their investment at a loss;  Nintendo might provide new supply on high demand figures, driving the demand and resell price down; the hype for Amiibo will eventually die down and the inventory of scalpers will slowly trickle into the market at a more reasonable price; or people will tire of their Amiibo collections and get rid of them, etc.

Ugh. It's happened. The first amiibo I've seen for one hundred dollars. An Australian Villager.

Hilariously all the Marth listings have deflated. Hmmmm. Hahah. Makes me glad I didn't over pay for him.

It's because Nintendo has said that they plan to have more stock of Marth amiibos available alongside the release of Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. (as it will be an amiibo that's compatible with that game)

Wait, I thought for SURE you'd have paid more for that Marth of yours. How did you manage to get him on the cheap/decent price?

It was luck, honestly. He was under 30, and the shipping was free. Seeing how he was from Japan, I mostly just had to wait two weeks.

Any of you guys heard of this? It's kinda worth a laugh.

First and foremost, obviously this guy is a blithering idiot and by all accounts is a scumbag.

All that said, I can't really get all that mad or upset at the guy basically screwing over all those people who legitimately want those figurines because it's such deranged insane troll logic. "I'm going to punish Nintendo for making all these characters I don't like by giving them money!!!!!" is....an interesting plan. Even if Nintendo were to somehow notice such an insignificant act at all, it'd end up being "Holy crap, all these female characters sold out! We need to make more!"

Yeah, that guy has legitimate clinical problems. Like, he needs help to get over his absurd hatred of women.

I got the Link Amiibo at launch, and my plan is to Warhammer the fuck outta him, giving him the Fierce Deity colors (His nickname is "the Fierce D"). A little later, I picked up Samus on break at work. And I jumped on Luigi the instant I saw him (always have love for the green plumber).

I heard about that fella who bought out his entire area code of Rosalina. Kinda wish I had that kind of cash for a number of reasons.

I managed to get a Pit on eBay. It wasn't pretty and as far as victories go it felt pretty hollow. Under $30, so at least I have that small comfort. Gonna train the hell out of him and make him my Archer to go with my Link. After that, it's only MegaMan, Lucina and Ness and then to Hell with these damnable things.

I got Captian Falcon in the mail the other day. He was quite reasonable. I've begun to train him in the art of precision Falcon Punching. I hope.

I wanted to get into it, too, but when I couldn't find the ones that appealed to me the most (Wii Fit trainer and Marth) ANYWHERE, I gave up.

But now, a friend gave me a present. It was the Kirby and Diddy Kong.

Now I have the fever but don't know where to start. Still can't find the ones I want.

According to Nintendo, more stock of Marth should be showing up around March-May. For Wii Fit Trainer, you might have to pay the price she's going for on eBay (looks like around $25) or wait and hope the price eventually declines as amiibo hype does. Though there's also the chance it will only increase due to rarity.

^ Thanks for the heads up! More Marths in production yay!

And now just ordered Wii Fit Trainer from Germany, for 18 euroes, which is not that much higher than retail price here. had not seen that the prices went down again.

So Wave 3 started yesterday, ended picking up a Rosalina and a Toon Link. Gave Toon Link to a friend for her birthday while the Rosalina is going to be my ace in the hole for future trades (still need to secure Ness, Lucina and Mega Man, possible Shulk and Robin as well). I think if I play the trade game long enough, I'll be able to get out of this mess mostly unscathed.

I got a Bowser today.  Bowser is my main in Smash and the figurine itself is really sweet*, so he seemed like the appropriate will-breaker.

*I do not like many of the Amiibo designs.  I hate the pedestals and will not buy them.

Oh dude, I am so sorry and relieved the hear that. From what I've learned from my experiences with hunting Amiibos, Gamestop has a 50/50 ratio for being filled with lazy sad sacks who may or may not call folks for their pre-order. There have been plenty of burns similar to this in stories from the reddit. Still, happy to hear all is well. Toon Link has a surprising amount of quality for a little figure.
