I just want to jump in and ask Jasi to start making suggestions for my wardrobe.
Work gives me uniforms. I just feel like I should start trying to dress better than jeans and T-shirt.
Guy clothing isn't really complicated. There aren't nearly as many choices.
"Do you want extra buttons on your button-up shirt by the collar? Y/N"
Pretty much. It's really easy to dress nicely as a guy but the thing is that many dudes are so resistant to the changes. The "don't"s are: 1) No gym shoes/sneakers 2) no flip flops 3) no cargo shorts 4) no baggy/oversized clothes. (I find that most guys I talk to go "fuck that; I'm out" at this point.) Then, the "do"s are: 1) dark wash jeans 2) button-up shirts 3) some nicer looking kind of shoe. Ta-daaaaaaa
edit: t-shirts are okay too if you're doing low-key things, but they should be nice. Like, no holes in them, and the design should be neato and not like "XEROX COMPANY PICNIC 2007" or "BLACK SABBATH" or "OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY" (unless it's game day) or "I try to please one person per day. Today isn't your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either" or "HOLLISTER".

And notice how the link never, ever mentions shorts. Some super hip and trendy people think men's legs should never be exposed to the light ever. You only have to go as far down the fashion hole as you're comfortable with. I happen to still own cargo shorts because I used to work at a garden center where I actually needed the use all the pockets, but now that they're mostly useless, I still don't get the hate.

Cargo shorts mess up the silhouette and make your thighs look weirdly thick, and if you have stuff in the pockets, bulbous.
Like, c'mon David Beckham, you have fine legs, let us see 'em.
A look like this is better in every way:
Mmmmm-hmm.
That being said, if you need cargo shorts for work because you use all the pockets, that's literally what cargo shorts/pants were invented for, so go ahead.

I love the button-up shirt and dark wash jeans thing. It's like my favorite thing that guys wear. *coughhinthinttimcough*
Timmy used to wear socks and sandals, guys. I put an end to that immediately. XD
And they weren't any sock... they were tube socks... long tube socks. X_X
It's okay I still love you, Timmy.

Yup, going with fuck I'm out too. Cargo shorts actually kinda help me, as my thighs ARE hugely thick compared to the rest of my body. They're just about the only thing I can wear comfortably, everything else is either way too loose on my waist or constricting on my thighs.

Ugh super preppy. >.< I don't like that style at all on guys.I just want to jump in and ask Jasi to start making suggestions for my wardrobe.

Punk and grunge, now that's where it's at.

It is preppy but it's also kind of foolproof. That's why it's my default recommendation to guys. Punk and grunge requires a lot more thought! Plus those styles don't jive with as many people's personalities.
edit: also,

No. No no no no no no. Why THE HELL are people these days buttoning their shirts all the way to the top?
Stop it.
Stop it now.
It drives me as mad as when they started tucking their trousers into their socks.
If you're reading this, are a male, and your shirt is buttoned to the top, I want you to remember when you look into the mirror that Veteran Does Not Approve.

All the clothes I own are jeans, t-shirts mostly with wolf pictures on them (I have a Skyrim t-shirt and used to have a Porcupine Tree one that went missing), jumpers and tops with wolf pictures on them, two worn pairs of trainers and a pair of Wellington boots.

My neck and shoulders are too huge for most non-custom-tailored shirts to even button up that far. So I have to go about 2 buttons down by default unless I want to slowly lose air to my lungs all day.

Well, they're just black Doc Martens, really. I need to buy some new ones so it seemed like a good time to see if I could go for something else. You know, I don't think my own sense (or lack of) style has changed at all since graduating, I pretty much just wear the same basic stuff unless it's something important or fancy - my boots, jeans, t-shirt and either a button up collared shirt or, when it's actually cold, a jacket also with collar. Really no vests or sweaters or anything for me. I also think I look terrible in colors so I'm basically in a sea of darker blues, greens, and greys all the time. Bad pic, but basically this. I guess I should try to wear other colored shirts to off set the jeans but I don't know. Head chopped off mostly because I didn't shave this morning and I get my bi-annual haircut tomorrow and I was just out celebrating my b-day early and I'm not presentable yet. <.< I guess you can see the boots in question there too.

This thing is resisting image tags for some reason. Phone posting is driving me crazy. UGH.
