What-ho!
Maybe this time around, my theme is ghosts. What of the chances one of the new starters turned into a ghost?
Because Lemmy the Empoleon was a great addition to the Steel Koopa Clan.

A Pokemon 'becoming' a ghost would be kind of awful. I mean, that would mean at some stage in evolution it would have to effectively die. Unless it was a Slowbro-type situation where it became fused with a ghost-pokemon.

So, is there a Mega for every pokemon, or just select ones?

...This kinda casts Froslass in a different light.
Hana: Only an unknown but select number of Pokemon get Mega Evolutions, and from what I've read none of the new ones do.

Awful, or an amazing feat of pathos and despair? That could-frog looks like he's right on the edge...

Probably around 20 or so mega evolutions.

Too bad the Silph Scope causes it to revert to Marowak.

Aren't ghosts in Pokemon not even actually ghosts? They're just called that because the way they are reminded people of the stories of ghosts with their wispiness and all that. Plus, yeah, that Marowak is an actual ghost and it's still a Marowak, it didn't turn into a Gastly or anything.

Yeah, Ghost-type Pokemon are not actually ghosts. They're just Pokemon that resemble ghosts and hang around dark and creepy places. It's notable that Japanese folklore's equivalent to western cultures' "ghosts" don't necessarily have to be the spirit of a person that died. They can be various types of malevolent spiritual entities or monsters.Aren't ghosts in Pokemon not even actually ghosts? ...Well, that's true for MOST Ghost Pokemon. There is one Pokemon that IS said to be the ghost of a person. Yamask. It carries a mask around with a human face that it mourns over as it remembers its life as a human. Eerie...

Granted, these are Pokedex entries written by ten year olds. And they tend to include rather questionable physics...

I always took that as just a folktale about that species. Rats aren't really born out of piles of dirty rags and basilisks don't actually turn you to stone if theys tare at you (though they can run on water, that's cool), it's just stuff that was passed down. Though to be fair, when there are actual animals in the Pokemon world that really DO control time & space and basically give a giant middle finger to the Laws of Physics by creating something out of nothingness, one would probably be more willing to give a second pass on those crazy old myths and folklore.

So my comment earlier about finishing the Pokedex made me check my games and I totally forgot about the Deoxys giveaway from March/April this year, I never picked it up from the White 2 delivery guy.
Then when I went to the Nacrene Museum to change its formes, Uxie just popped up out of nowhere in front of the museum. White 2 was really awesome. I also got two shinies in that one - Throh and, hilariously, Stunfisk.
Pokemon bank can't come soon enough. I have a member of every pokemon family distributed across Ruby, FireRed, Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, White and White 2. I think my first import into X will be a Zubat from FireRed via Platinum via White. Convoluted and wonderful!
Edit: My original Silver cart no longer works. Red does though.

If it's just the battery, they can be replaced with a bit of work, though it'll be a new save file. I also advise seeing of you can track down one of those Game Boy Mega Memory Cards to back up your Red save file and any other GB/GBC save files you might want to preserve. As time goes on, more and more battery-based saves are going to vanish.

My Ruby cart I value the most as it's my only complete local dex. The original games, since they're locked into their generation, I'm not as fussed about but thanks for the advice. I've taken pictures of my original Red team for historical purposes.
Boss movesets. Unbeatable.

I was looking at the old Type Chart, and holy crap Ghost/Steel would have been a powerhouse under those rules. No wonder the first time they made such a Pokemon was after the rebalance.

I was digging around and found my old Yellow cart and got curious, so I'm stealing Vet's idea and putting up my old team for the hell of it.
....I could've sworn I used Charizard on my team and didn't for some insane reason use Mewtwo along with Alakazam, but he was sitting in my PC 30 levels lower then everyone else, so I guess I didn't? I still mostly just play for fun and don't pay that much attention to IV's and all that, but sheesh, I know better then this nowadays at least! Ah well, some fond memories of using just Pikachu when possible to run through the Elite Four and Gary (obviously not possible for Bruno and his ground types) and having a Pikachu vs Jolteon mano a mano fight in the end.

To be fair, back in Generation 1, using Alakazam and Mewtwo both may have been lame, but it was a winning strategy. The question is why you didn't have more.

Do you have to register people on the 3DS friend list for them to show up in the game friend list?
If so my code is 3222-5661-6358.
Will add once I can connect online. Mine is 2594-9903-1484.
My game doesn't come in until tomorrow, you Brits got lucky.

So I should probably wait. I just got Luigi's Mansion and should finish it. I have important things to do that aren't video games.
...or I could download Pokemon tonight.

One nitpick. When are they going to put the type chart in the Pokedex so I can view it in game?

Nah, I accidentally used Dragon Rage on a Ralts. Fairy type will take some getting used to, as well as Dark and Ghost being neutral to Steel.
I've added you, Steve, and Squirtlelot!

In other news, anyone know what this weird symbol is next to my Ralts?
