Was it really necessary to post this on both mediums? We get it.

Here's how you fantasy football:

For our league, you will be picked a team of players automatically (you can set up some stipulations if you'd like), and your roster will look like this:

Posted Image

There are 17 roster spots. 10 are guys who are "playing" and will score you points. 7 are "bench" spots for guys you want to keep around, but who won't be scoring you points. Our league will let you play 1 QB, 2 WRs, 2 RBs, 1 TE, one W/R/T (free choice of WR, RB, or TE), 1 Kicker, and 1 team defense.

See that box up there that says Projected Stats? Yahoo automatically calculates how many points it thinks each guy will score (this is shown on the far right). This will help you decide who you want to play. You can also display the points they scored last year, the points they have scored this year so far, etc.

See that yellow note? Clicking this will bring up news about the player, including injuries and any insight into things that might affect how much they'll be scoring in the upcoming week. This will also help you decide who you want to play.

That is basically how you play fantasy football.

You'll be matched up against another team, and you want your guys to score more points than their guys do.

Posted Image

As you can see, it's projected that I'm gonna beat up my Dad's stupid team because he believes in the Indianapolis Colts. Silly dad.

Any specifics, I can help you out with as well.

I might get in on this, despite knowing nothing about American football.

I will make up names for all these alien abbreviations:

QB - Quidditch beaters
WR - Wizard robes
RB - Racing brooms
TE - Tennis elbows.

EDIT: Created a team using your link, DP, but I get nothing resembling your post above (not the cats, the other one). Just a blank page that says "Wait for the draft."

You did it right. And yes, you will have to wait for the draft to get your people. But thanks!

I dunno, Canas. Now that we've also got Vet, who is in a way different time zone, the odds of us having a successful live draft by Tuesday are slim.

We could run a draft manually over the course of Tuesday and have me enter in the selections afterwards, but that would require a lot of extra coordination.

Wait, have I gleaned it right in that we all have to pick different players? I'm confused. If my participation affects others in terms of this 'live' thing, I'll happily withdraw.

I was only planning on picking random people. It's only due to Ace Ventura I know who Dan Marino is.

No worries, Vet. That's the point. There are two ways to go about stuff. Either we all pick players from a big pool, or they are picked for us based upon meta rankings. Us picking requires everyone to be online at the same time, which probably won't fly.

I don't care which players I get though, I'd be happy for everyone else to choose and I get left with the dross.

Or when you mean all online, you mean I HAVE to be logged in at that specific time? If so, when is it? I could leave myself logged in overnight.

Nah it really doesn't matter it just helps having everybody on so that things are fair. But auto draft will take care of it

Well just as long as you understand I wouldn't be able to tell a good player from a bad one, so keeping it fair means nothing to me. Appreciated, but unnecessary.

I'll be picking the guys with the funniest names.

EDIT Or would've done, if they weren't picked for me? Weird this draft business.

This is getting a mite confusing.

How about I just make the executive decision that we are 100% having out rosters autopicked? Yahoo will run the entire draft for us, selecting 17 people for each team.

You can influence your autopicks by editing your Pre-Draft Rankings. When you go into that page, you have two options: telling Yahoo people you never want picked, and a separate list for people you absolutely do want if possible and the order in which you want them. Once you save these rankings, autopick will draft based upon your parameters.

I will set the draft to run on Tuesday morning (my time), so get your predilections set by then! This will give you opportunity to add/remove players all day Tuesday just in time for the first game on Wednesday. Sound good?

It's alright, Canas. Once you finish the draft it's just a matter of taking a look at each player's schedule, the opposing team's defense, who they're throwing too, who's the tailback, and putting all those together to get the most points.

I don't suppose we could do a winners' thing where the winner decides everyone else's titles for a couple weeks or so?
