I do think Xenoblade Chronicles is better. Plus, it came with a cool red classic controller! The free collector's coins from Nintendo of Last Story, Xenoblade and Pandora's Tower are pretty nice, too.

It's decided. We do multiplayer Last Story action. I'll be off to register that game now that I'm thinking about it.

You could lose entire weeks in SCIII if you want to do EVERYTHING. It's a fun game to bust out when you've got a bunch of friends over though, since the normal and bonus roster is HUGE.

Actually, I've already pretty much done everything there is to do SCIII, since I've been playing it for years now. I just like to play a couple of Tales of Souls every so often, or occasionally replay through Chronicles of the Sword. I still can't beat Strife though, even though I've beat Night Terror on all difficulties in challenge mode and in Tales of Souls. :\

Strife is one of the most challenging bosses I've ever played against in a fighting game. I managed to finish him off using a lance weapon.

Really? Well, Chronicles is pretty easy to cheese if you use the Katana weapon and do the running attack followed by the launcher special.

He's one of those bosses that just does not give let up once he has an opening. Like, I'll get a sting of hits in and then I remember getting blocked/deflected followed by blurs of movement and then WHAM game over.

I've come really close a number of times, but I lose every time, for the exact reasons JR mentioned. If he can land one hit, he'll land a barrage of others.

Strife and Night Terror for that matter are bosses I pretty much only beat thanks to the game's spotty A.I. Can't remember what horribly cheap method I used on Strife in the end, but for Night Terror I basically went 8 - 0, did really well once but still lost, lost another 3 times in lopsided defeats....then proceeded to Perfect the jerk smoothly. Hmm.

I didn't play 3. I loved 1, and hated 2, and my hatred of 2 caused me to ignore 3. Then I did wind up buying 4. Not 5 though.

"What? How could you hate 2!?"

You should really get 3, it's the best of the series in my opinion. I started on 2, so the lack of Siegfried (among others) didn't bother me at all, though he's also become my best character as well. I have a slight grudge against 4 & 5, since both are generally devoid of the vast amount of the 1 player content 3 had, although I still play them.

I played a bit of 4. It was kinda weird, a lot of things I really liked in 3 were either altered significantly or completely removed. And character creation was a nightmare.
I don't think I'll be playing 5. Frankly, they castrated the roster and replaced interesting characters with look alikes and two edgemaster characters. TWO. As if we needed more than one. And I guess there's Ezio, so at least there's that.

After watching raocow play through A Super Mario Thing, I realise that it's not the kind of game I'd like to try to play through. So I've removed it from the list. Quite frankly, that's no big loss as I didn't pay any money for it. Which got me thinking, I don't even have Black or White installed on my PC and I don't have Broken Sword II installed either. That's two more to remove off the list.

PS2:

Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles
Mana Khemia; Alchemists of Al-revis
Mana Khemia 2
Shadow Hearts

Gamecube:

Fire Emblem (can't remember its subtitle)

PC:

Bastion - Completed once
CreaVures
Dear Esther
Fable
Frozen Synapse
Guardian of Paradise - completed
Monkey Island 2: Special Edition
Mr Robot
Portal (which I may never finish because playing it makes me nauseous)
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
Rush
Sideway
SpaceChem
Super Mario Bros X: The Great Invasion
Treasure Adventure Game
Thief: Deadly Shadows

Nintendo DS:
Pokemon Platinum Version

RE: Soul Calibur
I love 5's Battle system, but would hate it for a single player game.
Three has some balance issues, but is in general incredibly fun, and still the one I'd bust out for large amounts of casual play. I might have to get my current chronicles to the Strife fight and record myself beating him with my dumbcheap method for your benefit.

Chronicles can be such a chore, though...

Actually, SCV had three mimic characters: Kilik (Male styles), Elysium (Female styles), and Edge Master (All). While I was also greatly irritated by a number of the things with the roster (Multiple mimics, multiples of the same character, and the lack of unique characters/styles from previous installments), I did like their attempt to consolidate similar fighting styles (Kilik+Mina=Xiba, Xianghua+Yun+Hwang=Leixia), since it made room for even more unique fighting styles. Unfortunately, this was not the case. If nothing else, the game played very smoothly, as Moriatti pointed out, and the character creation mode was severely improved from SCIV.

Gamecube:

PC:

Bastion - Completed once
CreaVures
Dear Esther - What? My progress has been lost? Damn it!
Fable
Frozen Synapse
Guardian of Paradise - completed
Monkey Island 2: Special Edition - Haven't really started this one.
Mr Robot- it's controls are so absolutely horrible for some reason, I've uninstalled it and I refuse to play it. Such a rip-off.
Portal - I've resigned myself to not completing this due to the severe motion sickness it gives me. As I got it for free from Steam, it's no real loss.
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
Rush - I've just realised that I have completed this, except that I'm actually in the post-game.
Sideway
SpaceChem
Super Mario Bros X: The Great Invasion - As this game didn't really cost me anything, not completing it is no big loss.
Treasure Adventure Game
Thief: Deadly Shadows

Nintendo DS:
Pokemon Platinum Version - Waste of money. Should have returned it the moment I got it, because the game's mechanics are so tedious. Will trade it in for Kid icarus.

Legend of Dragoon

I must confess, the major reason most of these games are on my PSP is...Minecraft. When I'm on my XBox, it's either Minecraft or Netflix. I do very little gaming apart from that.

Legend of Dragoon happens to be the big RPG of my adolescence. That game lasted me such a long time and I loved being immersed for it for the hours I put into it. The game has been criticized as a shameless Final Fantasy rip-off but so long as your don't mind that or turning into sweet ass dragon warriors then I'm sure you'll like it.

It's like Final Fantasy had a baby with the Power Rangers.

Granted, I don't think I've played it again since I first beat it back in the day, but I remember my middle school self liking it. Cause dragon Power Rangers, man.

Plus dat combat system. Timed button presses to utilize techniques? Which get stronger the more you successfully execute them? Pure awesome. It added a level of interaction that wasn't too common at the time.

Xenogears and Legend of Dragoon are just the "big and time consuming" RPGs on my PSOne Classics Backlog. I have, like, seven other PSX titles I've either finished or just didn't put on the list.

I must confess, I haven't even touched Legend of Dragoon yet because I don't have 1.2 gigs free on my memory card, but I do have 250 megabytes free, so I can install and play Dino Crisis. Proprietary memory is evil.

Well, perhaps breaking the game up into smaller parts can help you feel like it isn't so much a huge time investment game. Beat the first disc, take a break, beat the second disc, etc.

Xenogears goes surprisingly quick if you get into the story. Legend of Dragoon felt like it went on forever, even while enjoying it. At least for the sort of RPG it was. But yeah, actually interacting in combat was a lot more fun than just selecting "Attack" from a menu.
