You guys... you're making me actually want to try this Pokemon junk. o_0 So, if I get some extra money I'll probably be looking into used games. I've got an NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Game Boy Color, and DS Lite. So out of the games for those systems, which one is the best for an introduction to the series?

If you get a GBC, Red/Blue/Yellow, as Rova said. However, you can still easily find Leafgreen/Firered for the GBA (which were just remakes of the first generation) at GameStop or other game stores. Soul Silver/Heart Gold were remakes of the second generation, and they're available for your DS.

Omg LOOKIT THAT OSHAWOTT.Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ; u; <3

I knooow! And Charmander!...shame that Cyndaquil was the last cute/useful fire starter. ;_;

Infernape! INFERNAPE!

InfernRape, you say?

As long as you have a DS, you might as well jump on with Black & White. It has the best presentation of all the games (the overworld takes better advantage of being 3D, the pokemon actually have animations in battle), and was intended to be a sort of reset point for the franchise anyway

Otherwise I would recommend Heart Gold/Soul Silver, or any of the GBA games.

The original Red/Blue is amazing, but it definitely has its major flaws from a technical point of view. I'M LOOKING AT YOU PSYCHIC TYPES. :rage:

I'd say start with the remakes and then work up from there.

I personally like the red/blue pokemon best but I have to say some of the ruby/sapphire ones are cute.

I like the grass starters but after Bulbasaur... they kinda started sucking... until Snivy. I still started with them though. I'd also do a smattering of water. Like Totodile and Mudkip. I actually never started with a fire type except when I first played the game ever and I started with Charmander. And I didn't know how to use Pokemon Centers... so I went back to my mom's house each time... until I got to Cerulean City. And I cried and used potions until Vermillion and I ran out of moves... and then I read the guide that came with the game... and was like O_O REALLY?!?! and used the center.

I've found that I have a nice balance in terms of starters.

Grass: Bulbasaur, Treeko, Turtwig

Fire: Charmander, Tepig

Water: Squirtle, Totodile, Piplup

Though, I've also found that if I have a final team that doesn't include a Charizard, it doesn't feel complete. :P

Well, I change him up with Arcainine. My favorite team as of right before black/white was Wartortle, Arcainine, Ampharos, Sandslash, Tropius, and Wevile. And they're all ADORABLE!!!

I'm not really thinking "WHY?!" I am just thinking that in the game its small, like a smallish dog or a cat, but that one is a REALLY big squirtle, like monster squirtle. O.o

Gamera sized squirtle... that would be horrifying. Actually, that's a really cool costume.

XD I meant the Squirtle itself is saying so!

But yes! Monster sized squirtles! Just a "Mon" instead of a "Pokemon", as it's no longer Pocket-sized...XD

Yea it does loose the pocket-size quality when it is that big. I do agree with you Sondilyn, it's a cool costume!

I dunno, the only water starter I ever picked was Piplup. Because, you know, steel penguin and all.

I do like Squirtle a lot though, but he looks more awesome in his sunglasses.

^ We were talking and the topic of altered hooded sweatshirts came up again. We totally need to make me a Wartortle hooded sweatshirt. With the ears and tail sewed on and a shell painted on the back and stuff.
