So, if I get some extra money I'll probably be looking into used games. I've got an NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Game Boy Color, and DS Lite. So out of the games for those systems, which one is the best for an introduction to the series?

Well, if you've got a Gameboy Color, then I would strongly suggest Red or Blue. THEY STARTED IT ALL

And also since they're the first ones they don't require as many lifetimes to play if you want to get all the Pokeymans.

I love the grass starters but my favorite pokemon ever is Wartortle.

I'd say start with either Fire Red/ Leaf Green (on GBA) or Heart Gold/ Soul Silver (DS) just because those are like... the original. I have to say after those the next good one to come out was Black/ White.

wisp, FireRed/LeafGreen are probably your best choice.
