Silence will fall, eh?

Yes, the unseen Big Bad of the last series did say that.

Aww, JRP. Whyever would you think that? Before becoming the main writer, Moffat created Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Blink, The Girl in the Fireplace, and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. They're clearly some of the cheeriest, most comforting episodes of the new series!

Also, the fourth episode of this season, not-so-shockingly, is titled...

Well, I know Moffat's previous episodes have been some of the finest in the rebooted series (absolutely loved Blink and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead), but from the trailer it feels like the general atmosphere of the series is taking a turn for more darker themes. Before, it was always the Doctor traveling through time, coming to certain events clearly by happenstance and it seemed so much more lighthearted (Cosmic Hobo traveling in the Blue Box) although there where still traces of that darkness in the Doctor's life from time to time. But things need to change I suppose and we can't have the protagonist of a 40+ year show running from time and place to another without the eventuality that one day he would have to clean his mess.

Although personally I would like to see Moffat do something with The Time War and the events leading to the Doctor's 8th Regeneration that seemed to have been swept under the rug in the series.

Holy awesomepickles that's a good trailer. :o The Grand Moff is my master now.

JR, I think they'll save the Time War/8th regen for an anniversary special, assuming they can even persuade Paul McGann and Ecclestone to appear.

McGann has expressed interest in doing a regeneration scene for some time now. I'm not sure how Eccleston would feel about it though. But seeing as his last role was Destro in the G.I. Joe movie a couple summers ago I don't think he'd mind much.

So anyone see the season premiere for Doctor Who? I'll summarize:

AH YEAH! WHAT? NO! BUT HOW- WHAT? AH? AH! AHHHHH! NIXON? AWESOME! WAIT! NO! WHAT! SHE'S WHAT? WHO'S THAT- WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT- WHAT!?

And then it ended with a cliffhanger.

I didn't get that one.

Mrs Robinson was the sexy middle-aged woman who seduced the mid-20's main character in the Graduate, is what Vet was getting at. ;)

Fish fingers and custard.

No, no I haven't. So are Legs and Nose related to that film or is it a completely different cultural reference?

Anyway, at least we now know what the Doctor Who explanation for Nixon's tape recordings are.

I just saw the first episode today. Mostly brilliant but I got a bit headachey at the end because of all the different concepts and plot points they threw at me before the credits ran. There was the Doctor's death, the strange aliens, the spaceman, the child and then the pregnancy at the very end. It feels like two separate plotlines have been mixed into one storyline.

Still, I can't complain too much. If this episode is any indication of the rest of the series, it's going to be even better than the already-excellent previous series.

He called Amy The Legs due to the fact that she wore miniskirts, Rory was the Nose because his nose was a more outstanding feature on his face and River was Mrs. Robinson just because of her flirtatious behavior and age. Only one of these are based from a movie, the others are just superficial examinations on the Doctor's part.

Episode 2.

Holy crap! :ahh: What's going on? What will happen next? How will we cope with the summer series split?

This arc from last series is even more epic than I thought it'd be!

Wow, second episode. Can you say "more questions than answers?" Still, very enjoyable to watch.

And now we get pirates . . . great, now the questions get to stew.

I've finally caught up with you guys (again). I liked the story with the Silence but I thought the "little girl" subplot took up too much time in the story and made things unnecessarily complicated. The writers should have done more to separate the two storylines and make them clearer.

That said, I think I've worked out what the little girl subplot actually is:

I highly doubt there's ever going to be a companion in love with the Doctor to the extent they have sex. If the girl does end up directly related to the Doctor, it'll be some kind of sci-fi shenanigans like Jenny from The Doctor's Daughter.

Perhaps. It is supposed to be family entertainment after all. However, I'm still convinced that the Doctor and Amy are the girl's parents. All the evidence so far indicates that they are. I don't buy that "dropped out of the sky is a figure of speech, moron" line.

But he has a granddaughter, so he has to have had sex with someone...

I just saw the pirate episode and I'm chuffed that they've already confirmed my "little girl" theory by revealing the collision of alternate realities. And now we know the identity of the eye-patched woman who cameoed in this episode as well; she's the midwife.

I remember being on Gallifrey Outpost and how some maniac people were saying Astrid (from one of the special Christmas episodes) was actually the TARDIS or even the Master's TARDIS, leading to some weird sentences about time travelling inside of a human female.

Methinks Neil Gaiman was reading those comments when he wrote the latest episode.

I really liked the last episode of Doctor Who, Gaiman really did a great job putting this together. Seeing the older Tardis control room again was a huge plus in my opinion as well, gooooood times.

And after watching the Curse of the Black Spot again, I've unfortunately been able to see a lot of inconsistencies with that episode's story. Like what happened to that other Pirate in the magazine with Rory and Amy? Did he just dissipate and no one bothered to show it?

I thought the latest was one of the best of them all. As they've said on Gallifrey Base, Gaimen might be Moffat's Moffat!

And about that pirate, I'm assuming the same. He appeared at the end on the bridge of the spaceship so he must've been zapped, it pulled me out of the episode when watcing, moreso for us Brits since the actor is recognisable.

I just watched the new episode. I didn't think it was bad but I didn't think it was especially great either. I know that Doctor Who has a habit of relying on plot convenience but this episode was particularly blatant with it. Deleting a room sends the characters to the main control chamber? Silly.
