And yet there are those of us who still reject a split timeline. Ho ho ho.

Well naturally. People will always cling to their own theories but eventually that will fade. Like the Single Link Theorists of Old.

They could at least show a list of how all the games fit in chronological order and let the fans fill in the blanks. Most fan timelines are very simmilar anyways and doubt if they do show us a timeline it would be anything shocking. Or at the very least spill the beans on whether OoT is still the IW or not. That will finally end of unneccessary conflict in the fanbase. They confirmed the split timeline so they could do this too.

Well, I'm just thinking of some of the big arguments people have over certain plot points that wouldn't even totally be resolved by a timeline confirmation, as well as my own personal interest in how the games fit together on a more deeper level. Stuff like the aforementioned IW example, the Sleeping Zelda stuff, the nature of the "divine prank", and what happened to the Link of OoT. I doubt all those questions would be answered but it'd nice if some/most could. After all, if the big document was just a timeline it probably wouldn't be such a big document. Plus, I believe it was said that it also delves into how the games fit together, which would be most interesting. Personally, I think the how is more interesting than the fact that they fit together in the first place, if that makes any sense.

Honestly, I don't get the appeal in having Nintendo close off alternate interpretations.

Yeah, I'm with Finbarr. I much prefer Nintendo to leave us in the dark and leave things up to speculation. If there's no mystery about the timeline, there's nothing to discuss. (Well, I'm sure we can find stuff to discuss that they wouldn't mention... Even if it is somewhat inane. "Sheik is physcially male, yes or no?")

Maybe I'm the minority, but personally I just want to know how the games connect. Perhaps I feel like the discussions have gone on so long with little progress so to speak, but I don't know...I just think at this point I'd like to move on and discuss new games timeline-wise or things separate from the timeline. Like whether the old woman of the potion shop is supposed to be Anju and Grog's mother or grandmother in OoT. :D
