Damn, really? I've been meaning to get the NPC Jungle Beat.

...Maybe I'll get it tonight o.o I didn't like the Bongo controls, so I'll probably love this one.

Are you kidding me? The Bongos were kickass! I only regret I can't use them on the NPC version, because I wouldn't mind playing those new levels.

Going back to the original point, I don't think there's any reason to suggest that DK94 stars an adult DK Jr. While it's true that the adult DK in that game sported the classic Super DK tie, I don't think this was meant to imply that this was different than the Arcade DK. Donkey Kong Country was originally released in 1994, several months after DK Plus. When DKC was in development, it was originally intended to star the Arcade DK with DK Jr. filling the role that Diddy did. During development, it was later decided to replace Arcade DK with a fully grown DK Jr., replace the young DK Jr. with Diddy, and we were subsequently introduced to Cranky Kong as the original Arcade DK.

Consequently, I believe that when DK Plus was created, they were working alongside Rare's original plan, and thus updated the Arcade DK to reflect how he was expected to look in the DKC games a few months later. Instead, Rare's plans were changed and we got Cranky Kong, Super DK, and Diddy Kong instead.

Donkey Kong was never 'conquering' any kingdoms in Jungle Beat, that's just an explanation that was made up by DKViners who were butthurt over Diddy not being in it. The NPC rerelease explains that the evil Kongs stole DK's bananas.

I was particularly fond of the idea that Jungle Beat DK was actually a younger Cranky Kong, and the game showed how he established the Kongs' dominion over the Kongo Jungle or something.

Cameo games do not count as canon:

I know, but I find it more entertaining to believe they do. Plus, the Golf, Tennis and Party games do get a nod in Paper Mario. Though that would almost certainly fall under my "humorous nod, don't worry about it" category.

I think there's only one way to sort out the massive crossover mess in a manner pleasing to everyone; assume everything is canon. Thus Mario is easily linked to Zelda by the portaits in OoT's Hyrule Castle, Zelda links to Final Fantasy via Link's Grave in Final Fantasy I, which links to Disney via Kingdom Hearts, links to Warner Bros. via Roger Rabbit, links to the Green Lantern via Duck Dodgers, etc, etc.

I agree with you on everything you say here, I just believe it's far easier on everyone and everything to assume it's a second DK instead of a remake.

I don't actually believe it's a second DK, I just think it would solve many problems to assume as such.

And in turn everything is a dream in Tommy Westphall's mind. Even real life is in Tommy Westphall's mind, because I'm sure some of those franchises have crossed over with real life before.

It's not a dream; he's autistic, and the finale of the series that started the whole mess (St. Elsewhere) reveals that the series was a figment of his imagination, based on a snow globe with a miniature hospital in it. That's right. Everything covered up to this point is part of a huge multiverse that hinges on a frigging snow globe.

Also, let me know if my flipping back and forth between actually discussing the DK-verse and joking around with everything else starts to muck up my messages; I'm trying to keep the two distinct, but participating in both might cause trouble.
