I see it both ways. Personally I don't think it's supposed to match the sword going in a particular direction. The leggings remind me of the design of the sword's hilt but the head as the blade makes no sense. She just seems to have different aspects of the sword in random spots. In general she reminds me of the hilt. I don't see much of the blade in her except for the whitish tint around her head which is why some might believe her head's the blade while he legs are darker with crosshatch designs of the hilt.

....

Am I seriously getting obsessed about a piece of concept art? I'M A NERD, OH NOOOOES!!!!!

Also, this might be relevant:

I'm not saying I think she's the Master Sword, but...

If she was, who says that she has to look exactly like the sword anyway. She would NOT be in the same shape necessarily. That would just be freaky.

I think everyone can see in her features that every detail of her matches up to some detail on the sword, and we don't have to figure out if she's upside down or the sword pointing straight up.

I still think she looks most like the Great Fairy, but maybe she will be related to the sword somehow.

Has anybody considered that this might be a late April Fool's joke on Shigeru Miyamoto's behalf? Because certainly, the kind of discussions it's throwing up is hilarious!

When was the last time Nintendo pulled an April Fools prank? I think it was the old "Find the Triforce in OoT" and they vowed never to do that again after the fiasco it caused.

Oh you don't want to know.

Though I had no idea Nintendo was behind it. I thought that was just something fans brought upon themselves by assuming the Triforce was obtainable.

I think I saw something on Youtube about that, like someone hacked the game and found the Triforce as an item in a chest in the game. But it may have been part of the joke.

Nintendo (or it might have been Nintendo Power, I'm not sure) posted fake screenshots and Miyamoto said some stuff about how the Triforce was an obtainable item. If you were in the Zelda fandom in the late 90's, you're probably aware of the fallout this caused.

Anyway, Nintendo doesn't really do April Fools jokes. Is that even a tradition in Japan?

Yes it is. And technically, the screenshots were real, just from an old, old, old ass beta.

The screenshots that were used in the Nintendo Power joke article were doctored, though. They showed Link holding the Triforce over his head and a "you got the Triforce" message. The ones that circulated around the net were from the old beta, though.

That Zelda website that has all the looking for the triforce theories was quite fun, though. Back when I was young and naive I spent ages trying to get soe of those find the triforce things to work... Like, trying to hover boot around the edge of Ganon's castle to get to a secret back entrance which leads to the Sky Temple, and then...

Oh, and clearly:

Why did you think it was called the Magic Boomerang? And you receive it from a Great Fairy! How more obvious can it get!

Yup, I'm very disappointed.

Children and puppies looked so creepy in that game.

EDIT: I've got it! The entire game will be a stealth game akin to Metal Gear Solid. Link is weaponless to force people to sneak by enemies. Mwahahahahahaaaa!!!!

Not that I have anything against TP's art, but I would rather have seen something new. Hopefully they'll be doing something interesting with the graphics. I think it would look bad ass cel-shaded, for instance. As long as we don't have a ST situation, I'll be fine.

How do we know it's the same art style It's concept art. We don't know if it will look that way in the game. It probably looks like the TP style because it's probably the same artist who worked on TP. As someone mentioned before, it looks more like OoT Link than TP Link though it's hard to tell with just a a profile/back shot.

There's no way that's just concept art.

And putting different clothes on Link doesn't make it a different art style. Link's face looks exactly the same as TP Link's.

TWW's art changed a lot from when it was first shown until the game actually came out.

LinkxMr. Pointy was a pairing before this game. (Should it be Miss Pointy, now?)

Actually, I'm not sold on her being the actual sword, but from the look of her clothes I'm guessing there's a connection. I think the connection between the WW Fairy Queen and this girl may be stronger. Maybe she's the child timeline counterpart?

I was really hoping this would be TP Link's sequel game, but since it takes place in a different era, I guess not.

That wasn't anything to do with Wind Waker, though, it was just showing off the Gamecube's capabilities.

Maybe this is a prequel explaining the origin of the Master Sword. Maybe the fairy is the spirit which gives the sword its power to repel evil, and it can explain why two sages need to pray for her, etc. It would be an interesting idea, since the only origin we have is a paragraph from the ALttP manual that was mistranslated and cut out of the GBA version.
