In fairness, those other sites don't have dry spells because they debate stupid bullshit no one cares about like if there's two Temples of Time or whatever.

I stopped posting in timeline discussions simply because I'd got so fcking tired, really. I really think it is absolutely meaningless and pointless. For Christ's sake, if you're going to discuss about something at least do it about something that gives material to discuss about. And I stopped playing videogames regularly about five years ago. Since TP I don't give a damn about Zelda or gaming in general anymore...

But still, having found someone like Mike Peters traumatized me so much I to this day have nightmares about it...

What is this? Mike Peters Survivors Anonymous?

This is officially the best kooky theory ever. ;d

For YouTube, that was a pretty good timeline. The only things it loses point on are including Smash Bros. and SC2, and not including ALTTP.

Oh ruin! You missed the point of the video. It's a spoof of the Zelda timeline theorizing community. An affectionate one probably by fans like us who really love the series but a spoof nonetheless. The whole dialogue between "Doc" and "Link" is basically the whole past decade of fans attempts to build the timeline. It's not suppose to make sense. That was the point. :D

Also ALttP I think got mentioned as "He beats Ganon again." Apparently Doc thinks Oracle Link is ALttP Link.

I guess Doc could think that ALTTP Link is OOX Link since that one has been around for years, but the sad thing is that this spoof makes more sense than half the stuff on YouTube and the stuff that's been popping up on the forums lately, which might be why I was taking it apart. Unless that video was aimed at the sites with insane theories that pop up on a daily basis.

Anyways, I'm still arguing with the person who places TP at the end of the CT, and, well... just read it yourself and see what else I can use in that argument.

Oh. I just found this on youtube:

Not only is the timeline linear, but look at what he doesn't count as important games.

Can someone sum up that timeline theory for me? I can't make out what he's saying at all.

He's basically saying:

TMC-FS-FSA-SS-OOT (child)-MM-OOT (adult)-TP-ALTTP-LOZ/AOL-OOX/LA-TWW/PH-ST

That guy says that FSA and TP don't have an impact on the overall timeline when they actually do. After watching that video, I think I know why Nintendo rarely gives out information on the timeline. VERY FEW EVER LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY!!!

This is either kookiness defined or a damn brilliant satire in the face of those who takes timeline theorizing maybe a bit too seriously.

I didn't know anyone payed that much attention to the games and ignored technical limitations of certain times. I used to think that ZeldaWiki was the good Zelda wiki, but as of late, it has declined.

It's obviously a parody using Zelda to satirize current events. I think it's creative and it's no more kooky than someone saying massive geological events like floods and earthquakes account for the discrepencies in Hyrule's map between games instead of something simpler like artistic license or whatever. This has some thought to it at least and isn't outlandish as theory so... what's the big problem?

I'd say that, more than kookiness, this is the best example I've ever seen of pretentious sophomoric bullshit. By the style it doesn't seem to be intended as a satire. I know quite a few people who'll have a laugh when the see it...

I don't think serious speculation normally links to the wikipedia page on cynicism in order to support a point. :P

The name K2L sounds familiar. Wasn't he the guy who thought that Daphnes was a Gerudo? I remember some link to a profile that said that.

Okay. For some reason, I decided to pay a visit to the ZD forums since I was bored yesterday. Aside from figuring out why I haven't been there in a while in about 30 seconds, I saw a thread on the tetraforce. Thankfully, it was locked, but why do these theories continue to pop up even when they're confirmed to be wrong? Is it like the "Termina is a neighboring land to Hyrule" theory, since neither of them seem to go away?

Timelining is pretty much cyclical - the same topics keep coming up again and again. Like, whether Sheik is pgysically male or if it's a mere disguise.

I think the manga is partially to blame for that one, but that makes the situation even worse. Maybe we should search the web for outdated theories?

Not entirely true. The one-Link theories died with TWW.

Yes, that one has died for the most part, but I don't think it was truly gone until TP came in and made a single Link impossible. But if we look hard enough, we're bound to find at least one person who still follows it.

Even without those two, single Link theories are a bit hard to swallow... And whilst Link was on Koholint, hundreds of years passed, setting the stage for LoZ! And whilst Link was in Termina, hundreds of years passed, setting the stage for ALttP!

Wasn't that in the old NOA timeline? That never made any sense under any stretch of the imagination. At least to me, anyway. And I agree. They were hard enough without those two, but with them, it's impossible.

No, the old NoA timeline put forth that LA happened during AoL. Yeah, the raft got off course between Mido and Nabooru. I'm not kidding.

Where was that video a few posts up back in the day?! Lmao.

I apologise if it has already been mentioned in this thread, but does anyone remember the intentionally spoof triforce theory where Link becomes his own father, and upon this discovery goes insane and becomes Tingle? Best. Theory. Ever.

I know about the LA bit, but the old NOA timeline also said that there was only one Link and that while he was in lands like Termina, many centuries passed in Hyrule. Any idea where NOA got those ideas in the first place? That definitely deserved a place in this thread since it was once an "official" timeline.

I believe this is SteveT's theory, isn't it?

EDIT: Well, he's not SteveT anymore, but...

I believe there were two or three people involved with the theory if I remember correctly but SteveT was definitely one of the main authors. I thought I had the theory saved somewhere but I can't find it.
