Psh, I don't want little wisp-spawn. I just want a "life-mate," if you will.Marriage and kids at 22 scares the bajeesus out of me. The only people in my area who are pregnant at 22 or 21 got that way by accident. o__o

I think one of the reasons people have children young is so it makes it easier to get a place to live.
I'm 21, but I'll be 22 in less than 2 months.

A couple of my friends are married, but no kids. Still scares the hell out of me though.

My parents were young when they got married. In fact my mom was 15 (and my sister was born three years later, so I'm fairly sure no shenanigans were involved). They're still happily married too, nearly 30 years later. If they hadn't had another kid nine years after me, my mum would've been done with kids before even hitting her 40s.

To be honest, only one of my close friends (most are within a year or two of my age) has gotten married so far. Of the rest of them, two are engaged (both couples have been for a while), and one pair is well on the way to engagement (they're just waiting to finish grad school first). A few others are in relationships, but nothing of wedding bells has been hinted yet. The rest of us are happily (or unhappily in some cases) single. And there aren't any kids yet.
My brother and his wife were married at 25 and 24 respectively, and waited 5 years to have a kid. But there you go.

How does that not average to 50.5?

Naturally you should count every year of your life, from 0 to your current age. In my case, I get (0 + 1 + 2 + ... + 24), which comes out to 300. I divide that by the years I've been alive (25, since we're counting 0) and I get an average life of 12 years.
For SteveT, his would be (0 + 1 + 2 + ... + 101), which comes out to 5151. If you divide that by 102 (we're counting 0 folks), we get 50.5
In which case his logic is infallible. And that folks is why we don't need mathematical formulas when having Java handy can get it solved in three lines of code. (Okay, we need mathematical formulas, but I don't have to like it.)

"Help! I'm on fire!"
"Yeah, me too."
"No, I'm literally having flames searing from my flesh!"
"Well my day hasn't been that great either."
"AAAAAAAAAAAUGH!"
True story. (I'm being sarcastic.)

I actually thought about doing it that way just to hammer the point home, but didn't bother when I realized that the two methods were equivalent.

22. i'm at the age where people i know are getting married and having kids... i feel like i've fallen very much behind...
Meh. I'm somewhat in that situation as well, but it doesn't bother me at all. Even if a lot of people are doing it at that age, lets face it, 22 isn't exactly the equivalent of your vintage years.
Dont rush marriage. Marriage is like a binding of two people for eternity.
Well that's one way to look at it yes...
