Link grew up among them - and even though he himself was one at one time.

Just FYI, Link was never a Kokiri. He was a human/Hylian who got dumped in the forest by his wounded mummy. Remember?

Oh pishy-posh. :) You can't deny it forever. The Rito are Zoras. Same sense of grace, same complexion, and of course, the big hint from Laruto. They had to be transformed or else, well, no one was allowed under the sea, really.

i love the koroks (i spell it with two Ks because it sounds cooler, i know full well the japanese behind the "korogs"), they actually have a point in life in WW. they're out to spread the forest and return the world to it's older form, and they're doing it bravely... just the handful of them, going out on their own in a world ridden with strife and mayhem.

and it's hard not to see the obvious connection between the rito and zoras, but i think it would have been better if they were completely seperate. it'd just make the world of hyrule a little richer.

having a point in life is awesome. it's rather.. animalistic. like having a migratory pattern or a one-year lifetime in which to spawn.
and yeah, the more species the better. i dont like to cheapen either species by drawing a connection based on sagehood. might as well say all the races came from humans!

Might as well. Aren't Hylians the Zelda equivalent of a human being?

I always assumed the Hylians were Hyrule's equivalent of humans. I mean, human that comes from Australia: Australian, human that comes from Africa: African... etc.

Well you have a point there. Hylians are Hyrule's answer to humans.
... A scary thought just came up. What is Tingle.. hes a Hylian who thinks hes a fariy, but.. what would his equivilant be..? er.. actually scratch that. I dont really want to know the answer.. Tingle just scares me altoegther..

Hylians and humans are differant, Hylians are a sort of "master" race(not to be confused with the nazis however) and they are supposed to be differant from the humans. Humans=round ears, Hylians=pointy ears.

the feeling you get from alttp and the like is that the hylians are like... 'atlanteans' or something like that..
an ancient people superior to the modern people in genetics, culture, amd magic, but who are nearly extinct and stuff. however, during games where the majority of the population is hylian, they seem to just be normal humans... sure they have a lot of magicians, but compared to whom?

well..i think the point was that Hylians knew the secrets of the Gods moreso than the folks in ALttP...however the ALttP main population looked the same as the Hylians because they too had long ears...

Ganon ALMOST gets the Triforce, but then the King touches it and makes the wish for Hyrule to be sunken underneath the sea.
On a side note, does anyone else think the King of Hyrule looks oddly like The Sage of Light? One of my friends pointed that out, and if you look closly, he does look vaguly similer....

he prolly skipped the maps and tried getting them by using online maps or something. XD

speaking of fishing with the grappling hook, did anyone ever pull up a non-treasure item? i saw like a jar on the commercial (and i've heard tell of boots and stuff) but i only got one -once- and when i did, an octorok attacked me.. right in the middle of an island's water area! It was bizarro, probably the only time i could have fought him from land.

I did think of that when I made my first post, but what if the pointy ears was just a characteristic of the Hylian race? Sort of like how Africans have dark skin and Caucasians white, or Asians have black hair and (often) small noses.

it's entirely possible, but then where did the non-hylian humans come from to dilute their racial characteristics?

Seperation from the Gods? Only the noblest descendants of Hyrule's royal family and knights still hold their bonds.

To earlier complaints that you didn't really get to beat Ganondorf one-on-one in TWW, I would say that this was just about the one aspect of the game that made any real sense.

The Hero of Time was held in an enchanted sleep because he was too young to weild the Master Sord. Kind've a failsafe for prospective heroes, like the Triforce breaking when wished upon by one whose heart is not in balance. However, as the Triforce's failsafe craps out if the holder of one piece goes out and gets the other two, so too can the Master Sword's. Evidently the pedestal in TWW's castle lacked the properties of the Pedestal of Time, and the Hero of Winds was really far too young to be off confronting the Great Evil King.

I imagine that, had the Hero of Time gone with the Master Sword to confront Ganondorf at ten years old he too would've been smacked about the head and left face-down on the flagstones. That's why he was put to sleep. Only with the aid of Zelda and the protection of the Triforce could a younger Link defeat him (and even then the fight was for nothing more than his life; the issue of Ganon siezing the Triforce had already been decided). Anything less would've totally cheapened the whole premise of OoT, the original Hero's legendary status and Ganondorf's prowess (if just any lookalike can kick his ass given the right sword and some shiny arrows, what's the big deal?).

Then again, I might be kind've blinkered by the fact that I really hated the Hero of Winds and was really pleased to see Ganondorf give him the beating he so richly deserved.
