I think at least one of the Zelda games in future should have a girl who takes up the Master Sword and green tunic. I don't really have too much to add to that other than I think it'd be pretty nice change of pace for the series. As long as it doesn't get out of control and spin off into a whole new series of girl Link games.

Link is basically a girl anyway right?

What do you think?

I don't think it would be a bad idea. Though, her name wouldn't be Link. What would her name be? I don't know, maybe Aryll? I've had similar ideas.

I want girl Link too, but only if there's a boy Zelda (aka Shiek I suppose).

No. It would spoil everything. If there is a girl hero, it shouldn't be Link.

And Link is not a girl! He's the most masculine manly testosterone-ridden piece of manliness *snicker* I guess you're right.

Another girl villain would be great though!

lol...Zelda looks like a total pansy in that pic XDDD Those are awesome, though!

A girl Link would be a little weird though...I mean, do we want a girl Mario, too? Girl Sonic? Boy...well, boy Samus would be hardly different than normal Samus...but Link is supposed to be a boy!

Now if they did something where Link had a daughter, that may work...

Completely different. Mario and Sonic are both individual characters. Link's a ton of different people.

It would be completely awesome for it to happen. :D

I like the idea, and I love the drawings.
A girl villain, now that would be cool.

That would be a great idea.
---------------------

I think it would be kinda funny to have a male semi-finalboss that would mess with with the female Link through out different parts of the game. (Just as something to annoy her.) (Though meeting back up with Navi would be fun.)

Why is "hapless captive male Zeld...o" wearing armor??

At any rate, Link at least is not a specifically masculine name (since it's not a real life name anyway).

It wouldn't mind having a female Link. As for people saying "A female Link is not Link at all", think about what Link is supposed to be. Shigeru Miyamoto has said that he named Link what he is since he acts as the link between the player and the game. Having a female Link for female players would help that.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a female hero, but she shouldn't be named Link. She should dress in green and all that jazz with the ToC and the Master Sword, but her name should be different, to differentiate her from male Link.

I dunno, maybe Linka?

I don't think that would be a good idea. Then again, I'm very stubborn to change after so many games.

Ugghhh, why do people think this would be a good idea?! I think it'd ruin the franchise in of ways, especially if it was a girl Link, and not just a random heroine. Honestly, I'm not being sexist, but I don't think we need a girl Link. While Link may be "different people", that's not true as a whole, only in storyline situations. In truth, he's kinda the same person, and I don't want that ruined by a girl Link. Oh yeah, and I don't think wearing a tunic in a medeival-based game is all that girly either, so I disagree with the assessment of him being "basically a girl anyway".

Ruin the franchise?

I take exception to that. What about Young Link and the older adult Link? That's a significant difference. What about WOLF Link? That's an even bigger change.

I don't see how the gender of the main character would change *anything* except offer up something slightly fresher.

And as for her name, that's irrelevant, Link's name is whatever you want it to be anyway.

I think we are all forgetting one important thing...

ZELDA

Sure, link turning into a girl, fine. BUT ZELDA TURNING INTO A BOY?!!!! NO!
I think I speak for us all when I say that we don't need any masculine Zelda.

Even if Zelda remains a girl (like she should) it would have everyone saying link was lesbian.
Which wouldn't be funny >.<
In my opinion

*cough*Zelda in OoT is a transvestite (or transexual, who knows)*cough*

That is WAY more radical than a male Zelda. I wouldn't mind having a male Zelda. Especially if he's hot. Like Sheik.

Same thing as asking why Tingle just doesn't grab the master sword and be the hero.

Sorry dude, but that was kind of a bad example. See, there is this little game called Tingle RPG.

Besides that, you did control other characters briefly in TWW and TP. I think its only fair if Zelda gets in on the action. Certainly, it would be better than a female Link, if you are indeed trying to stay true to the series.

Zelda: Wand of Gamelon and Zelda's Adventure.

Great

About as great as Faces of Evil.

It would, because it wouldn't have a purpose other than so fans could have another Lara Croft. OoT and TP's "changes" were for actual gameplay reasons, whereas a girl Link would just be there to get people to gossip or whatever.

Uh, guys, why can't we just have a game where you play as Zelda?

Now, THAT would be good. As in, like what happens in Paper Mario. A couple times in the game Zelda would have to do something. I'd be fine with that, because it would actually be helping the gameplay beef up and change.

Ah yes, that's right.

Exactly. I could also go with her having a role similar to Midna in a future title, but that's been done for now.

The Zelda games have already had female protagonists, kind of - the BS games. And that's not even Zelda (as in Zelda's Adventure and Wand of Gamelon).

Yes, yes I am.

As for Tingle and the Master Sword, I thought the analogy was just that. The fact that there is a game about him proves there can be one for pretty much everyone.
