I HAVE heard of it. I've got the first five episodes but do you actually understand QUITE how expensive anime is over here, and the fact that it is simply not on television? I've never had the money to get ahold of it until recently in life.As for Bebop, er... well, sorry, I have to side with hobbit on this one. It's been in circulation for a long while, is very well known and well loved, and is probably regarded as quintessential anime. Especially for recent years. Sorry that you were spoiled, but I'm actually quite surprised you hadn't heard of it already.
Well, that says something about what side you're going to take on the issue of spoilers then. o.oI was rather late in seeing Bebop as well, and I was spoiled on the ending of Bebop ages ago before I had a chance to watch it (though spoilers never bother me much - I usually know how a story ends before I watch or read it).
I knew it was an accident, if you read what I said I didn't blame him afterwards, my outburst was more aimed at, well, spoilers in general. And who says people already know? I don't spent 99% of my time hanging around anime fans, I don't *know* that many anime fans, and the ones I do know missed out on Bebop. Bebop is not a masssive cultural phenomena, it's a popular anime in the west but anime itself is still not a massive massive thing, especially over here in the backwaters of England. It's a mistake people in the community make to assume that every anime fan has seen everything that's been and gone. It's just... one of those big series, you know? I wouldn't say being spoiled on that is like being spoiled about Darth Vader being Luke's father, but it's still kind of a 'yeah, we know already' kind of thing. So yeah, sorry you haven't seen it yet and accidentally read something, but you can't exactly blame him too terribly much given the status of the show. 'Twas an accident.
Basically, people shouldn't assume that anime spoilers are as well known as the stereotypical popular film or game spoilers, such as Star Wars, Sixth Sense or Final Fantasy VII. I mean, if I ran around throwing away the endings of less well known films such as Momento - films that people missed and will 'get around to seeing', would that be okay? I don't think that's very considerate.
I don't really understand why spoilers have a sell-by date anyway, to be honest, but eh.
Look, it's not a big deal, all I ask is that people realise that just because a series has been out for a long time doesn't mean everyone's seen it. Especially when it comes to a genre like anime.

^That guy is a gun.
Fun Fact: This is a perfect example to use the culture tags.
since this is an Austrialian phrase, use the aussie tags([ aus ] with no spaces) to clairfy it's culture. Like so:

That is all.

Er, apologies. I meant 'heard of what happened at the end of the show' as opposed to just hearing about Bebop in general. Bad wording on my part. And yeah, my opinion on spoilers is obviously biased because I actually like knowing how a story ends so I can examine the characters and situations that lead up to that climax. But still. You're just going to get accidents like that happening with the big series. It happens, and if it can't be covered by a spoiler tag in time... well. It'll probably happen with other series just by the nature of talking about anime, or any media for that matter. People don't intend to ruin the series for people, but it's something that just happens during a discussion by accident. Gotta grin and bear it or try to avert your eyes if it's unsettling. *shrugs*
.........And no, before you and I get into another senseless knock-down drag-out fight, this is not meant to be an argument - I don't want to argue, I'm sleepy. More like a statement of fact about what's likely to happen at some point.

....And holy hell. Comrade Zangief! His agent must be desperate if he's ending up there.

Ahem.
...You're right, like I said, I'm not blaming anyone, it's bound to happen here and there, people have just gotta be careful. *Nods*
I personally like to have things as a surprise until the end, because, well, that's how people design series. Then when I watch it again, I'll spot all the things that add up towards the ending. But usually I remember them anyway, and the rush of memories and the 'ah, it's all falling into place!' factor elicits much joy.

That was said already a page or two ago, JR. The part about the tags. Maybe it was on something else.

I knew that would happen. So I found the picture on my computer, and then LA wouldn't let me upload it. So I'm going to upload it to geocities and hotlink from there.
