Okay, I realized that I might like this game a little too much. I've taken to playing three-on-ones because the computer AI simply cannot challenge me in a fair fight. The best I can do, repeatably, is three level fives, but I'm working on improving that. Ever since I heard about someone defeating three level nine opponents with the handicap stacked absolutely against them (nine to one), I haven't felt nearly as confident in my Smash Brothers abilities.... Anyway, Peach still rules. Her moves combo so well, and they're fast enough to use against multiple opponents. Also, I'm sorry I was so hard on Falco, especially because he no longer stands a chance against me. Mwa ha ha, haha, ha ha.

Anybody else around here invested too much effort into that game?

The AI in that game is much better than in the first game, but even the hardest mode is incomparable to playing against someone who is practiced or tournament trained. >< I've been able to take on multiple level nine characters for years, but I still haven't been able to beat my tournament trained friend in a one-on-one match.

Heheh. My brother once picked a gang of Donkey Kongs (the AI's were Level 9, and he was better than that) against me (I think I was Ness). I pwned him.

...Although this was the old SSB, so I guess that's redundant.

So I agree; AI's can't match natural skill (and they are sometimes too predictable). I can beat 3 Level 9 Dr. Mario's, but I lose more matches than I win when my brother uses the doc (It doesn't matter what I do; I find myself victim to a fatal Super Jump Punch somehow, even with my Ice Climbers). I've been getting better though, and I've almost been able to tie him both in wins and KO counts.

And that's when we fight each other. If we teamed up, we'd probably kick all your sorry backsides.

If you think that, then you've never seen a GaTech student play SSBM. We have one of the best players in the nation here, and a suprising amount of students do come close to him in terms of skill.
The more talented students like to train those on a lower tier, too. The campus is like one big SSBM dojo.

GaTech = Georgia Tech = Georgia Institute of Technology
...Barrie? What? o_o

Also, in an effort to make this post on topic:

Oh, yeah. One of the best two-on-two combinations I've seen in action was Princess Peach with Captain Falcon, right next to Marth and Falco (yes, it is an incredibly cheap combination, too).

Personally, I am hoping for SSBB to have Wi-Fi so I can test my skill against other people around the world. I will say that I'm a player who believes in sportsmanship so I will allow opponents to return to the arena if they can.

I'm pretty sure SSB:B is online-capable. I once heard a rumor that you unlock characters depending on how good you do on the online matches, too, although I doubt it.

From what I've read, SSBB is not online. There won't even be an online ranking system or anything. This news is somewhat old, though. If anyone has newer information, please let me know

Oooold rumour pulled essentially out of someone's own beehive. It's usually coupled with 'Wind Waker Link' and 'Ridley' and the Ice Climbers being kicked out.

None of these things has been confirmed at all. We still know as much as everyone else knows. Nothing's been leaked since Fox was revealed, as far as I know.

As for Brawl being online, I think it's actually been suggested fairly recently that it will be.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the lead directer wants four player online battles, but he believes it'll be difficult to pull off. But they are definately looking into including online rankings and stuff like that. I'm guessing tournaments would fall into that, too?

Whatever they do, they need a big online componant. It's always been big on the multiplayer, so they really do need it.

As for characters, I really want Midna, Kaptain K. Rool, Olimar, and a Diddy and Dixie combo! They'll never happen, though!

When you say that you beat multiple level nines, I assume you mean that they are on a team and that friendly fire is off. Also, I've been playing without items, because they tend to give me a huge advantage, then an exploding capsule will get dropped in my face, 'cause the computer is a cheater. Anyway, I've largely proved myself to be a one-on-one specialist. I tend to slow fights down a lot (I play as Peach), which means I never win timed matches. On the flip side, I have this habit of winning stock matches by a landslide. Anyway, in one-on-one, my opponent gets to sit back and enjoy a first-class flight to hell and back, 'cause edge-guarding isn't as much fun as launching them a second time. I've actually had opponents complain that I was busy scratching myself in the middle of the fight and they still couldn't hit me. Of course, I've only been playing Melee for a little over three years, and I've only been playing against real living people for about a month or so. Back home, no one would play against me, and at college very few people are willing to play against me. So, if Brawl is not online, I will be very, very sad... in about three years when I get it.

No, friendly fire wasn't off. I had to fend them all off on my own. I think the only reason I won was because my brother was no good with DK, though... but still, it was a tough fight.

Err... come to think of it, maybe it was Bowsers. I remember the fight taking place on the Ice Climbers stage, so it had to be SSB:M. I think he tried both DKs and Bowsers; I think I lost the Bowser one (barely) because my brother was better with him. I'm sure I wasn't using Ness (he is a worse character in SSB:M); it might've been the Ice Climbers.

SSB: Mario/Yoshi
SSBM: Link/Y.Link/Mario/Fox
SSBB: Link & probably Mario

Computer are easy I say, except for 3 Ganons vs. Link, I get my ass thoroughly kicked. I'm hoping they make Kirby into a good character in Brawl, Kirby is a good character dammit! So many possibilities with him.

Edit: For those that don't know this; You can play SSB online with an emulator, if your computer is extrmely good you can play SSBM as well

Friendly fire being off means that your opponents cannot harm one another. Because things begin to even out a lot when they can harm each other.
