Can I say a Japanese God/Goddess if I want to?

Cause I have one.

Inari. (Because his/her messagers areOinari (Kitsunes).) (Yes it can be Male or Female.)

and just so I can say it.

Hercules. (I like the movie one better though.)

Vens (yes I can't spell.)

If it makes you feel any better...Baco is the Portuguese/Spanish name for Bacchus....and it's also the name of a mix drink of Bacardi rum and coke? :D So that makes Bacchus a lot closer to a god of rum? XD

Demeter/Ceres. Don't know why, I just tend to like agriculture Gods/Goddesses.

And Artemis. Among other things, you gotta love a girl that when someone catches her bathing she punishes the guy by turning him into a deer and has his own hunting dogs rip him apart. And she's the Virgin Goddess.

Also just because and no real reason I like both Nyx (Goddess of the Night) and Rhea (mother of six of the twelve Olympians). And I suppose I should like Apollo too because of his Oracle. ;)

Yay for being a Greek Mythology Nerd!

*cough* Well... in regards to the male gender. Which goes for Athena as well. >__>

Freya

No, my sn is acutally after an old friends Rat and an Anime character, I later found out she's the Norse Goddess of Fertility :) so she's my fav! (although it looks like they spelled it Freyja)

While there are some sources suggesting that she was called on to bring fruitfulness to fields or wombs, she was a goddess of, love, beauty, sex, and attraction. Freyja was also a goddess of war, death, magic, prophecies and wealth.

Yeah she's pretty kickass!

How about Huitzilopitchli?

Gotta love a god that needs human sacrifices to keep the sun rising every morning. :P

But seriously, I've always liked Diana/Artemis, mostly because Diana is my middle name.

Or how 'bout Epona, the goddess of horses? :D

Well the Romans were hardly better in that case. But the Greeks saw it as a positive thing, you bond with your fellow man who can understand you far better than any woman and you know you can trust him beside you in battle, then you go home and make sure your wife provides you with a few sons or daughters (sons are best of course) after your day of hard training with other scantily clad men (OK, so this example is more of Spartan thing, but it's not too off typical Greek views on homosexuality). Gods did it too of course, even while still alive, and conquering half the known world, yes even Alexander the Great was a bisexual. Though he could of been just plain gay, occasionally sleeping with concubines to show Persian tradition and marrying for pure political purposes and to asure him an heir.

It's best probably not to mention Pederasty though, if you think this is weird....

They get weirder.  There's Tiresias.  He was a priest who hit mating snakes with his stick, which turned him into a woman.  As a woman she becamse a priestess, married and had children, but found mating snakes again and hit them, then turned back into a man.   Zeus and Hera asked Tiresias who enjoyed sex more.  Tiresias said on a scale of one to ten, women enjoy sex nine times to men's one.  Hera punished him by blinding him, but Zeus gave him prophetic powers.

And there's Hermaphroditus.  He travelled to some woods and found Salmacis in her pool.  She tried to seduce him, but didn't work.  When Hermaphroditus entered the pool, Salmacis wrapped herself around him and prayed to the Gods that they would never part, so they merged together to become a hermaphrodite.  Hermaphroditus then cursed the pool, so that whoever bathes in it will become a hermaphrodite.

We actually talked about these stories in one of my classes. Now why don't these get made into major motion pictures?

It really is kinda sad. I mean, when someone says "god/goddess", they go straight for the Greeks and Romans.

I mean, there are so many better ones.

Would the four Chinese Heavenly Beasts be considered gods?
