Once upon a time this would have been a foregone conclusion, but I think they're more evenly matched now, so which do you prefer? Take into account characters, storyline and gameplay and post your reasons here.

EDIT: I don't believe it! Something's correcting my title! If I want "MM" I'll have "MM"!

OoT had a more interesting storyline, but with all the quirky story tidbits, I have to say MM in my opinion.

Majora's Mask was an incredible game, in all aspects, but OoT trumps it with one thing: the feeling. The feeling when first playing and first beating Ocarina of Time was incredible. Sadly, I'll never have that feeling again, but it's that alone of why I think OoT beats MM.

My vote ties things up! There weren't enough dungeons in MM, nor was there enough stuff happening in between dungeons to justify such a small number of dungeons. The plus for MM was the interesting characters though. OoT wins because Zelda is made by its dungeons, and the dungeons in OoT were brilliant.

Majora's Mask is far better than Ocarina of Time in virtually ever respect. It's actually laughable how shallow OoT is when I play it right after having played MM.

I just started playing MM again on Sat, and after going through master quest a month ago, MM just feels more interesting, more to do, darker and more intwined story. I just prefur it, and suprised myself whith how good it is!

I like more definitely Majora's Mask. It's a complete art work, I think it really makes the player feel it's an adventure, especially because of the light and sounds effects. I like it more too, because Link gets more involved in the lives of the characters and it has a more interesting story, in my opinion this is the quest in which Link really turns into an adult.

MM was a pitiful gasp to relaim OoT's glory with some funkyness behind it. OoT>MM. Fin.

Except not. OoT was a 3D version of LttP. MM was a game built off OoT, only superior in many ways. MM>OoT. End.

(I use english! Mwahahaha)

You have a point, somewhat. Though I fail to see any ways in which MM is superior to OoT.

Majora's Mask is better than Ocarina of Time in most every aspect. Ocarina of Time was first and that's really the biggest thing it's got going for it.

MM was just such an immersive game. I really felt like I was a part of that world for 3 days. Characters were much more fleshed out and had much more defined personalities. They had lives and goals, they didn't just walk around saying the same thing over and over. The game also had a ton of sidequests that really let you explore into this world Nintendo created.

Another thing I loved about this game is that the characters displayed emotion so well. Kafei barely making it to Anju's room before the moon crashed and them finally reuniting...only to wait for their deaths. Where in OoT can you find something like that? The game was very dark, both in the story and the general atmosphere. It delt with death and love more than any Zelda game has ever done. The dungeons, although fewer in number, were also superior to the ones in Ocarina of Time (at least IMO).

Also, a lot of new gameplay elements like the 3-day time system and transformation masks were added. The 3-day time system itself turned the game into one gigantic puzzle, where you have to balance the amount of time you needed. The transformation masks added a fun new layer to the series, being able to control beings other than Link. A welcome change.

The first time I played through Majora's Mask I didn't think it was up to par with OoT either. But after a couple times through I started to realize the brilliance of this game. It's truely a finely crafted masterpiece, a jewel among a jewel of a game series. I wish developers would create games like this more often.

What I love in MM is how you can replay the dungeons again and again without having to start a new game. All you have to do is go back in time and voila, dungeons are all reset for you to try again and you can skip straight to the Boss Battles if you want.

Now that's versatile gaming.

You don't know how many times I wanted to go back and fight Twinrova or Volvagia, without playing through the game again. Being able to face any boss over again (and at the end of the game, with the might Fierce Deity Mask!) is simply great.

That and the fact you can, if you want, repeat any scene again. Like when Pamela is reunited with her now cured dad, which I rate among the best of scenes in any game.

Well, as incredible, detailed, and emotional as MM is, I have to vote for OOT. It was my first Zelda game and you never forget your first, do you?

...............hmm, that sounded wrong. <_<

I don't know... it is really hard to decide. Oot had a really good story line but I like doing stuff again without starting a new game.

I enjoyed MM a lot, every details and the feel of it. I ecspecially like fighting the bosses again, again and again.
In Oot you will always get the same ending, but in MM the ending depends on the what you do.

Still I can never forget the first time I played Oot

I never could get used to the saving thing in MM. The story seemed empty without Hyrule or Ganon, and the storyline in OoT makes perfect sense if you tie up the loose ends without being lazy! I'm writing a story on it!

OoT kicks MM butt. :XD:

OoT's storyline was epic in scale, but MM's was deeper psychologically and emotionally.

OoT's gameplay was much longer, but MM's had variety and quirkiness.

It's almost neck and neck, but OoT gets the point because while it works well as a stand-alone story, MM serves mostly as a supplement to Ocarina, especially in the portrayal of minor characters.

I really enjoyed both games and I have to say that I just liked the concept of MM better and finding masks is my thing and also it had more lives within the characters and they actually moved to specific locations which looked real so for me MM on both storyline, concept and characters

Both games were "deep psychologically," it just depends on how you interpret the text and read the story in your mind. MM was creepy, more thought-provoking, not necessarily more touching.

You could just save by the owl statues and it will bring you right back to where you were without going back in time. Most people don't seem to realise this.

Majora's Mask was a great game..it was dark, pretty deep (considering how short it was) hard, complex..the only thing is it didn't feel as epic as OOT, and it didn't feel as much as a Zelda game as OOT did. OOT felt like nothing but Zelda, but MM had this different feel to it. That doesn't mean it's not a great game, it's just not supirior to OOT, or a few other Zelda games for a matter of fact.

Ocarina of Time was longer, and had more of a classic Zelda storyline. (defeat ganon and save the princess). Granted, Majora's Mask had a great plot, and the mask system was fun, not to mention the time, but it was too short for my liking.

I liked majoras mask better than ocarina of Time. OoT had great graphics but the storyline where zelda is kidnaped by ganon and link had to save her and hyrul reminded me too much of all thouse repetitive mario games for me to care much. but MM was more chalinging to get through I still have not beten MM but that is only because Husse lent me the wind waker and it comsumed most of my time.
