Minish Cap is out in Europe, so I'm sure some of you have had a chance to play it. I started playing it today myself. Here are some things I've noticed (some of this might not be new if you've been keeping up with Minish Cap stuff already):

- This seems to take place long before the FS games (Vaati is in a sort of human form and nobody knows who he is)
- Long ago, Ganon and his minions seem to have been causing trouble, but the Picori (Minish) people showed up with "golden power" (Triforce?) and the "Picori Sword" (Master Sword?). The Link of that time period saved the day with "courage and wisdom" (with these parts of the Triforce?)
- The Picori Sword was sealing a chest, and Vaati busts the sword, opening the chest and releasing a bunch of monsters. He didn't find what he was looking for. Maybe he was looking in the chest for power to rule the world or something. This would make him a rival of Ganon, not one of Ganon's minions. Which explains why he wasn't really teamed up with Ganon centuries later in Hyrulean Adventure.
- The Minish traveled from another world, settling in the human world. Only children can see them. They say that making people happy gives them power. Maybe they're messengers from the gods, sent to protect humans?
- Zelda has some sort of "power of light" given to her bloodline long ago. She uses it to create a light shield when the monsters in the chest escaped.

No offense davo... but that info has been out for a while. ;)

But was it confirmed that the demon defeated by the Picori Blade was indeed Ganon?

I know some of that is old info and I said so. :deadlink: It's not like everyone has had a chance to keep up with Minish Cap storyline spoilers, so I'm just revealing whatever I find interesting as I go along.

Some websites have listed Minish Cap's release date as Nov. 10. I'm sure there will be variability about the actual day you can buy it in stores.

The King and the minister of Hyrule both look like they could have come from the Wind Waker backstory. Of course, a lot of characters in Minish Cap are recycles from other games, such as the carpenters and Terry (the merchant from TWW).

Where at, though? I've read early January for North America.

Zelda Universe said Nov. 10 for Europe, January 2005 for US.

Heh, I cheated and glanced through the text in the rom for a bit. I noticed that there are references to a line a of priestesses in Labrynna, and a dancer from Holodrum. Now that's just freaking cool. An actual allusion to places/things from the Oracle games.

Another thing I noticed is that you have to get "elements" to restore the Minish Sword. One of these elements is Earth; the others I'm guessing are forest, water, and maybe shadow. I haven't played far enough to know. But I'm thinking maybe these elements match up to the sages in TWW who were keeping the Master Sword charged. So there's some connection between the Master Sword and certain core elements of Hyrule which need to be protected.

EDIT: ZHQ is saying Nov. 12. I tend to trust TSA more than most people, because TSA is the most fanatical Zelda person I know.

Nice! I think the elements might be Earth, Water, Wind, Fire, Light, Shadow, and Spirit and/or Forest.

I think that the elements you need to collect are actually just the stones you get in HA from the Hylian Knights.

Hmmm, this is interesting. Especially the allusions to Oracles. I still haven't had a chance to even play HA, though. :-( But keep us updated, Davo. I'm really looking forward to this.

Apparently, looking at ZHQ, TSA has already beaten the Japanese game, and his Euro version comes tomorrow (so he'll probably beat it in half the time). So expect ZHQ to have full spoilers of the game this weekend.

Here are the spoilers I posted on IGN yesterday.

okay, here goes for major spoilers:

SPOILER: Basic Story

Well, we know the basic premise. There was the legend of the Hero saving Hyrule with the Pikkoru or Minish Blade I guess. The story starts with Link taking his grandfather's sword (he's a smithie named Smith) to be presented to the winner of a martial arts contest; one mysterious person named Vaati. Anyway, when being presented with the sword, the legendary Minish Blade is also on display, placed inside a large chest, supposedly sealing monsters and the Golden Light bestowed upon the Hylians by the Minish known as Force. Vaati goes evil, and shatters the Minish Blade, releasing all of the monsters. But wait! The Force is nowehere to be found. He turns Zelda to stone and storms off. Link, who had been knowcked unconscious, wakes up and is then asked by Zelda's father I guess, King Dalton, to save Zelda. Apparently, only the Power of the Minish Sword can break the "Demon's Curse" that has afflicted her. But being that the sword was broken, it has to be fixed by the Minish themselves. The Minish, tiny little people who can only be seen by children, were thought only to be legends. Link, being a child, is sent off to find them.

BIGGER SPOILERS: Finner Points of Story

Along the way, Link enters the Chiroria Forest, and finds the Mysterious Hat, Ezro under attack from Oktoroks. Link saves him... or it... and finds out Ezro was also in fact finding a way to break the Demon's Curse. He decides to tag along, and eventually decides to hop onto Link's head because he can't walk fast.
Ezro also seems to have the ability to shrink Link at certain "Entrances" to the Minish world. In the forest, they find a Minish settlemeent. Link learns that to fix the Minish Sword, they need to first take it to Melter in the Gongol mountains. Then the sword must be bestowed by the four Elements: Earth, Fire, Water Droplet, and Wind. So Link sets off on his more complicated adventure.

SUPER SPOILERS: Plot Twist

After gaining the first two Elements, Link has the now restored Minish Sword (now called White Sword) and bestows it with the Elements of Fire and Earth in the Sacred Presinct or something inside the Castle that only Kids can see or something. Sacred Area I think is the same kanji they used for the Sacred Meadow in OoT, and all the place where the Four Sword was in the FS games. Anyway, the Elements let you split into more copies of yourself, thus 2 elements make two Links.
After that, Link is confronted by Vaati outside. However, it turns out Vaati seems to know Vaati knows Ezro from somewhere (he calls him master) and even thanks him for something. After he leaves (not without summoning monsters) Ezro tells Link that in truth, both he and Vaati are Minish. Ezro had made something called the Hat of Wishes, that could, as its name would suggest, can grant wishes. Vaati had stolen it, and became his humanoid form as you see him. Vaati then casts the Demon's Curse on Ezro, and turns him into a hat. Unfortunately, due to some unexplained reason, Ezro says that the curs eon him can no longer be broken, but there is still a chance to save Zelda.
Vaati, meanwhile, attacks the king, and disguises himself as him. He then commands the knights to search for the Force.

UBER SPOILERS OF DOOM: Ending

Well, Link collects the Elements, a new doorway opens in the Sacred Presinct. There Link finds the stained glass pictures in the opening, except with the added scene where you find out that the Princesses, (i.e. Zelda) hold the Force. Vaati finds out, and shoots Link unconscious again. When he wakes, the Castle is transformed to be evil like. Blah blah blag, last Temple, Link finds Vaati about to take the Force from Zelda. Vaati hadn't had time to completely extract the Force, but now has enough power to transform into his Monster/Demon self. Cue last boss fight(s).
When Link finally defeats Vaati and saves Zelda, the Hat of Wishes is all that is left of Vaati. Ezro, mourning the loss of the Castle and people, is suddenly returned to his normal self. He then tells Zelda that she can fix everything because the Force is in her (heh heh) and the Wishing Hat would amplify her power. Hurray for happy endings. Everything is all good, and the Wishing hat is destroyed. The doorway to the Minish World that opens every 100 years is closing, so Ezro shrinks back to his normal size, and goes home. But before that, he gives Link a hat so as to remember him or some junk.

At the very end of the credits there is some more lines about this being Link's first adventure and Hyrule seeing more stuff later.

RANDOM SPOILERS: Non-storyline Stuff

Din, Nayru and Farore from the Oracles are in this game. Well, not really. According to Nayru's figure I have, they say they are decendants of the famous ones in Labrynna.

Syrup is in the game again, and there is a random old lady named Maple.

Gorons are in the game, but no other races (other than Deku, and the People of the Wind.)

Tingle, Ankle, Knuckle, and David Jr. are in the game, but not that important... unless you want a certain item....

Great Fairies now have an insect motif, so there's a Dragonfly, a Butterfly, and a May Fly.

I read the review in NOM UK and am excited that the Europeans get the game first, I can't beleive how much plot info they're adding to the mix!

Vaati is a Minish? Vaati became human then some cloud monster? Confirmation of the line of Zeldas? Another Link relative? Another Hylian King? Exposed nature of Hylian magic? A prequel to OoT ... that infers that OoA and OoS come before it even? The Minish Sword is the infamous White Sword of AOL? Continuity = excellent game!

Too much to process at once!

I think one of those names or maybe two were popular entertainers in the Oracle games...so if that is correct...the figures you're referring to could being paying homage to them...which might put the Oracles even before MC! This is crazy! Then again this is the story of how Link first got his trademark hat. I don't think the Oracles come before this one, personally...but that did raise an eyebrow or maybe I just misunderstood it wrong.

Also, we don't see Vaatti getting sucked or trapped inside of any sword...which alludes from the original FS backstory.

Looking at it another way, the Oracle games could be alluding to Minish Cap, which would put the Oracle games after TMC. Just because there's a connection here doesn't mean we can determine which game goes first.

According to the original FS GBA backstory, Vaati was going around kidnapping girls, until a boy with the Four Sword came and defeated him. Link gets the Four Sword in TMC, so maybe he seals Vaati some time after TMC. It could be centuries later though. Why would Vaati kidnap girls? Probably for the same reason Ganon did in TWW: he was looking for powerful artifacts from the past. Vaati does, after all, learn at the end of TMC that Zelda has the "Force" or whatever.

EDIT: I cheated again and looked in the rom text. I found something interesting.

Swiftblade's Gossip Column
Armos, fabled creations of the Minish.
I hear that they drop Kinstone pieces
when you beat them!
Or so it seems...
But it's just a rumor...

The Minish created the Armos statues?! Does this mean that the Minish have been around everywhere? (Since most Zelda games have Armos statues in them.) I wonder if the various "gods" and "guardians" of Hyrule are the same race as the Minish, but simply taking on different forms. They seem to be a powerful race capable of quite a bit of powerful magic.

Well, I started playing the game. Uh... somewhat legally at that. ;)I have to wonder about the Oracles thing though. TMC's ending infers that this is the prequel to the whole series, but the Oracles in this game are descendents of the famous ones from Holodrum/Labrynna. So that's confusing.

Yeah that's what I was talking about earlier in response to Zethar's post:

this makes it seem that the oracles used in MC are descendants of the ones in Oracles--who were "famous" (one was a singer and I think one was a dancer). But I don't see how if MC is the first and also the 1st time Link started the traditon of wearing his trademark cap.

Wait, now I'm not so sure. I got DIn's figure, and it says that she's a Dancer from Holodrum, not a descendant of one. What was Nayru's story in OoA? Was she a descendant of someone? Because technically the figure said she was as descendant of a Priest in Labrynna, so I assumed they were talking about an older Nayru, but I could be wrong.

If you care, the Figure system works exactly like the one in SSBM. You give sea shells to the dude, and depending on how many you give, it increases your odds for getting a new one. Sadly, for me, I played through 3/4 of the game before I started working on it, so I had been maxed out at 999 for a while, and wasted a bunch of Sea Shells because I kept gathering them even though I couldn't hold anymore.

Oh I see what you're saying now. So maybe these are figures of the current oracles who may later be in the Oracles games, which could imply that they live during the MC time period, (I mean there are figurines or momentos of celebrities) and maybe the Oracle games will occur immediatley or sometime after the MC?

I was trying to point out that it seems the Minish have been there at all time periods, since Armos have been there in all time periods. It seems they've been there since the beginning, since Armos are in the earliest games (OoT for example).

There are oracles in TMC? I've searched the text and didn't find any instance of "oracle." Do these figures look like the characters from the Oracle games?

So if the MC oracles are descendents of the OoA/OoS oracles' predecessors does that make them distant cousins of the OoA/OoS ones? Then Oracles could come directly after the Minish Cap.

Davo: You kept calling the Minish Sword the Four Sword, yet in the game they call it the White Sword at one part apparently. Does this mean the White Sword is the Four Sword?

Are the Minish like djinn or gnomes or sprites or something that do the will of the gods on Earth and keep the balance, a bit like the Cherubs for the Thrones of Christian angelology (a real word i think)?

Hats off to Flagship/Capcom for creating an amazing game with astounding levels of continuity and a Hyrulian Tingle (proving the theory that MM's Tingle was an alternate of an OoT unseen Tingle)! They've made such awesome bad guys over the years: Veran, Onox, Vire, Vaati... they love the letter V...

Well the Oracle figures that were shown in the MC are of the Oracles we see in the Oracle games. The text in MC about "famous ones" was in reference to the people the oracles are descendants of, such as Nayru's father who was a priest. The oracle figures in MC are NOT descendants of the ones from the Oracle games...they ARE the oracles from the Oracle games. So that means that they exist in the same time period as MC, which could imply that the Oracle adventures haven't occured yet...but may happen shortly after.

The broken Picori Blade becomes the White Sword, but that gets upgraded into the Four Sword (and it MUST be upgraded, it isn't optional). So, if you think it's the same White Sword from LoZ, it isn't.

The Minish are just a race of tiny people, unseen by normal eyes (with the exception of good kids).

I don't know how many of you actually beat the English version, but the Japanese and English texts are simlilar, but names have changed. I'm going to upload a video of the ending pretty soon in English and then Japanese, so you can see - and so Zethar can see the differences.

As for ZU and listing the game as Nov 10th - don't believe Anakin. No offense, but I can 100% tell his screens are from the emulator - just like he got the ISO of FSA and found a way to get screens of it from that lame GCN emu out. He said it came out Nov 10th to mask this fact, so that people would believe he got it because it WAS indeed out. The English ROM went online about Nov 8th, but wasn't widely spread until Nov 9th.

If you check Indie Zelda - the people in Britain are just now getting the game - like myself, I got it yesterday - Friday Nov 12th. Ok, I don't live in Britain, but I paid for the shipping to get it to me the day off - well actually Game.UK.com was nice enough to ship it early.

Anyway - I am not responding to any of this yet because I am still in my "I love this game" phase. After this weekend, I should settle down and be able to talk about the games placement and other stuff. All I can say is I see how this game ties into other games, but I do not concretely see where it falls except before FS and FSA.

Mad props to ANYONE who can identity EVERY Zelda tune rehashed in this game. Hint - You have to DIE to get one of the hard ones.

Nayru, Din and Farore can give you charms like their items in OoT. I agree with Tri-enforcer, but another argument is that Nayru could take them through time.
