For all those confused: Dark Link is a miniboss in the Water Temple in OoT. Shadow Link is the final boss of AoL. Just to make it clear
I'm not so sure that's right. I think OoT and AoL have Dark Link, while Shadow Link is in FSA.

No Lysia is right. It is Shadow Link in Adventure of Link, Dark Link in Ocarina of Time, and Shadow Link in Four Swords Adventures, though Dark Link and Shadow Link may mean the same thing too.

Yes I remember that show. It dealt with Ganon creating an evil mirror version of Zelda, and Link was all excited about finally getting a kiss from Zelda until he found out that the evil Zelda had no reflection and wasn't really Zelda. So yeah I remember the show.

Notice how the stories are eerily simmilar? The Big Bad uses a magical mirror to create an evil twin of one of the good guys? In the show it was Zelda. In FSA it was Link. I for one thought Dark Zelda was hot! It'll be cool if in the next FS game we get an evil Zelda for a change...

You are thinking of Thunderbird, who is the next to the last boss. The final boss is Shadow Link, and if your having trouble in AoL, ask me some questions and I'll help you out.
Yes that is a striking similarity there Mario Jr. I would also enjoy seeing an evil version of Zelda. I mean look at how cool Dark Samus looks in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, so what do you think a Dark Zelda would look like.

I would enjoy to see your version or versions of an evil Zelda. Whatever Zelda looks like in the new Gamecube Zelda game will undoubtably be awesome looking, and if there was an evil version of her in that game comparing the artistic style they are using I would imagine that an evil Zelda would look WICKED....heh heh heh!

I've been thinking about this for a long time and many of my zelda fans agree with me on this so I thought I should get this idea into the open. Personally I've always been intrigued with Dark Link as his character allows for so many possible storlines involving him. That said, I think it'd be cool to see a game where you play as Dark Link.

What are the names of the Dark/Shadow Links in Japanese for all three games? Perhaps they have the same names in Japanese but we ended up with two different translations in English.

I think the Dark Link is just like Metroid Prime 2 and a Rip-off but they could be different people from other worlds like the dark and the light world...One is bad and One is good....It's just like Metroid Prime but I find it that the storyline is better in The Legend Of Zelda

If I do remember correctly, Dark Link came BEFORE Metroid Prime 2 was ever concieved of.

I always thought that Shadow Link was actually that evil. The way he laughs, acts etc. I just think he is a malicious, spiteful form of Link from the Dark World, and see Dark Link to be much more evil, whether or not he is a figure of Link's imagination.

No. That would suck. He's not even a person. Just a gollum or manifesation of some form of dark magicks. Yes, I said gollum - look it up, it's not a LOTR reference. And yes, I always spell magicks with a k.
That said, I think it'd be cool to see a game where you play as Dark Link.

Dark Link, in my opinion, is the embodiment everything that Link hates in this world, making him his complete opposite, his shadow self. He was conjured up in the water temple, but as long as Link (or any of the links for that matter) hate all that is evil and wrong in the world, Dark Link will exist as his opposite, always standing in his way.

Uh what alternate spawned off universe did you come from. Unless you are living time backwards, Dark Link was before Dark Samus, no need in debating this, because this is FACT.
The Adventure of Link had Shadow Link which is basically Dark Link and the game came out in 1988. If you won't take that then well how about this.
Ocarina of Time had Dark Link in it and it came out in 1998.
Now when did Metroid Prime 2: Echoes come out? hmmm let me think about this for awhile, was it 1776, no that was the declarition of independence, maybe it was 1812, no that can't be it, I must be thinking about the War of 1812....hmmmm this is a tough one...no no don't tell me I can get it. Oh yeah that's right it was 2004.
Let's see here, are 1988 and 1998 before 2004? Let me think about this for awhile, why yes they are.
So the answer is....ding ding ding Dark Link came before Dark Samus.
However I will agree on this part, Dark Samus does have a better plot than Dark Link.

Actually the quote of Ganon creating Shadow Link is on the first page of this thread. This is what FSA had to say.
" Ah! The Dark Mirror...Someone's stolen the Dark Mirror! That mirror reveals the wickedness within a person and brings it to life. It's an item of terrible, dark power. No good can come from this. Shadow Link!! Could he be your evil reflection cast by the Dark Mirror? If that were the motive of the mirror's thief...This is disastrous! If we don't get the mirror back, Hyrule will be overran with evil Shadow Links. The mirror...who took it? And where? "
As for the AoL and OoT Shadow and Dark Links well they weren't given an origin, but one could think that Ganondorf might have created Dark Link in the Water Temple, or he could just be some imposing imaginative figure in Link's mind. As for AoL well I think that Shadow Link was more of like test in seeing if he was truly capable of bearing the Triforce of Courage.

Dark FS/TWW Zeldas are nice edits. Though I do say FS dark Zelda looks like she might be more of an evilish char than the other edit. Not bad.

Well I was writing a fanfic for the Dark FS Zelda which was part three of the FS saga. But I have so many projects I probably won't start on it any time soon. So I'll just give a brief synapsis of the whole thing.
"The Mirror Maiden" (tentative title) actually starts off bleeding towards the last chapters of FSA, where Zelda break the Mirror of Darkness, it's shards shattering throughout Hyrule. But while doing so, her image was cast into the mirror and it escaped into Hyrule. Months later, sensing something evil has befallen Zelda, Link goes into the castle to see her. She seemed okay but she tells him that Ganon had escaped somehow. So Link and Zelda go the Four Sword Shrine to get the Four Sword which automatically shatters Link into Four individuals. But Ganon was still within the seal and was released to resume his dark designs. However, upon leaving his imprisonment, Zelda reveals her true intentions and absorbs Ganon's power into her being. She also reveals that she was not the real Zelda but her dark shadow. The real Zelda was imprisoned in the castle basement which had already been completely consumed by evil by this point. Now with Ganon's power, evil energy resignated from her and Hyrule was engulfed in shadows, becoming a world of pure wickedness. She then scattered the Links to the far corners of Hyrule. Green Link landed in Lost Woods, Red Link in the Desert of Doubt, Blue Link in Lake Hylia, and Purple Link in Eastern Hyrule.The four halves separated from each other, travel throughout Hyrule, looking for each other so and awakening the other kidnapped Maidens and such, so that they could return to the Castle and vanguish the evil that had kidnapped their beloved Zelda. An interesting thing to note though is how the six maidens keep referring to an eighth maiden that was spoken of as the Black Maiden and the evil elemental of the White Maiden's ancestor. But the Eighth Maiden was evil and unpredictable so the other original Six Maidens joined together and sealed her in her own mirror along with her dark army. Ever since then she had vowed to return and avenge her race. Now she had came back as Zelda's doppleganger and was using Ganon's power to take over Hyrule. After defeating a possessed Ganon, the Links finally confront Dark Zelda. But she leaves in mid-battle. The Links then go to basement, rescue Zelda, and that's when Dark Zelda returns and tackles Zelda, thus assuming the same form. Without a distinction between the two Zeldas, none of the Links know which Zelda was the real one. Fortunately the Six Maidens come and awaken the Light Force in the real Zelda which causes Dark Zelda to retreat to the world of shadows, Dark World. The Six Maidens and Zelda then use their combined powers to seal Dark World. The Light returns to Hyrule and all is well again. Awesome job Mario Jr.! Four Sword Dark Zelda looks freakishly evil, the Wind Waker one looks good too. Have you ever thought about rendering the other Zeldas like this, because I would like to see what you could do with all of them. That would be neat. Anyway my hat is off to you, great job!

Good post, Mario Jr. Only one small prob though. You were talking about the Links being scattered throughout Hyrule, and you made mention of 4 halves. Now I know it's probably just nitpicking, but it's really 4 quarters...
