Holy crap, I’ve got so much to tell you. It’s been a bit weird these first few days at Uni.
You know how we had that farewell party for me, the one that you guys didn’t tell me about until it was too late for me to object, and how everyone was there, and it was all good, well, from that moment on, everything seemed to go like a rollercoaster.
Sam, you know her, my eldest sister, the one you used to have the hots for, gave me my farewell present, a picture of what she saw as the real me, you know how she likes to be deadly honest, It was a picture of me running through a forest with my eyes looking like they were pools of water. It was beautiful. She topped it off by puling me aside later and telling me that she knew about my gifts, and told me to have a bit of fun with them. I asked her how she knew, and she said that she had her ways, and to mind my own business. She told me that if I didn’t write to her, she’d hunt me down and turn my entrails into a fantastic sculpture.
Jessie gave me a nice farewell. She told me that if I made the family name look bad, she’d beat the living crap out of me, and nobody in the town would object. She told me she loved me, and that I should have fun, and make sure I get top of the class in everything. I nodded, hugged her, and told her I’d do my best. She is still so competitive; I pity the poor man that marries her.
Mum and Dad, told me that they loved me, and that they were really proud of me. I didn’t know what to do, even I, the strong quiet man that you know me as, felt a tear in my eyes. Ok, so I’m not strong, but it was one of the most emotional moments of my life. They saw me off at the train station, with you there as well, and you all saw me leave for my next adventure. Mum told me to be careful, and told her I would be, and she started to cry, but tried to hide it. She said something like “My baby is leaving me” but I couldn’t completely make it out.
So, I got on the train, and sat next to some old guy who smelled like he hadn’t had a shower in weeks. He asked me for some change, so I gave him a few bucks, and he smiled at me, saying that people usually told him to fuck off, and that I was a really kind young man. I got talking to him, and told him where I was heading. He told me that he’d heard of the place, and that by the look of it, they’d be lucky to have someone like me there. I know, a tad corny, but it was a nice start to my new life. So the train took me to my destination, LAville University. When the time came for me to get off, I said farewell to the smelly guy, gave him a few more bucks and stepped out onto the platform, not knowing what to expect.
Well, it was pretty ordinary. It was a train station, and there were people. A lot of people, people with bags, people with suitcases and people waiting for the next train. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but I think it was a bit more than that, meh, it soon got better. I walked over to a girl with a sign that had my name on it. I told her who I was, and she said she had been sent to collect me, it was a complimentary service that older students did for the first years. Her name was Jo, and she told me she was going to be my mother for the next four years. I didn’t really know what to say, so I just nodded, and asked her where we were heading. “School, duh.”
Jo was nice, but you didn’t want to annoy her. She seemed to be very opinionated, and didn’t like people messing with her, I made sure I wouldn’t. She said that the buddy system, or rather the family system, worked that when you had a problem, you’d come to her to ask her advice, but nobody really did it. It was just a way to make fun of people because sometimes grandmothers would be sleeping with their grandchildren, and if you write back to your real family, saying what you got up to, it could cause some confusion. She said that it was always funny. She then inquired into what my gifts were. I told her I didn’t have many, but that I was able to run fast, disappear on will, and play around with the wind a bit. She called me a hawk, and chuckled to herself.
We then parked, and she told me that we had arrived at my home for the next few years. It was really bright outside, but I was in my usual track pants, hat, sunnies, and my long sleeve shirt, so I wasn’t really bothered by it, but I was hot. She asked me why I was wearing all that stuff, and I told her about my weakness to the sun. She smiled and asked if I was more a night owl, and I told her I was. She showed me to my room, and told me that my roommate wasn’t going to be there for a few days, so I got to choose the bed that I wanted. I chose the one next to the window, that way I could spend my nights looking up at the night sky. It was a nice window that opened up and you could even lean out of there if you wanted. Better than the screen ones that I had at home.
She left me to get better acquainted with my room and told me that I’d be able to get my timetable for my classes later on, and that if I got lost, to just follow the path, and I’d eventually find my way back to civilization. So she left me to work out what I was doing. I unpacked, did all the boring stuff, looked to see where everything was and found that I had my own bathroom, which was nice.
The thing that I didn’t expect to happen was, while I was looking out my window, some guy threw a fireball through the air, out of his hands. It turned out that he was trying to impress a girl, but it backfired on him because the fire hit a tree, and set the thing alight. He had a hard time trying to put the thing out, and still look cool. I wondered if anything else like that was going to happen, but the rest of the afternoon was boring. I went and got my timetable printed out, and had a look at where all my classes were to be, I knew I’d forget the moment I left, but it was worth a wander round.
As the sun said goodnight, and the moon came and said hello, I realised how peaceful this place was, with nobody around, but with that peace, came a kind of creepiness, as if there were people watching me. The place should’ve been alive.
Over the next few days I got more acquainted with the place, found out where the best places to be were, and where I could best linger in the shadows if I felt the need. I also had a try at my gifts, and found out that they were fun to play around with. I didn’t have to walk around much, I could just disappear and reappear at will. It was nice that way.
The place started to get busier as more people arrived, and the place had a certain buzz to it, like all schools do before the start of term, like everything is new again. I have my first class tomorrow, and I can’t wait to see what I’ll be studying, so I can go fork out all the money for my books. A double degree in communications/gifts. Sounds really fancy.
So, that was my first few days at uni. I think you’d like it out here, plenty of people for you to hit on.
Your friend,
Tony.

Toan didn’t know who or what the squealing girls behind him were discussing on this rather long and bumpy bus ride, but the sheer noise factor was beginning to irk him. Oh I hope they aren’t gonna be at this school too…, Toan thought miserably. What powers could these girls possibly possess?
“I know what you mean there…”
Toan looked about startled, and found the guy across the isle that had been quiet the entire duration of the trip now gazing toward him. He nodded nervously toward him, and he resumed listening to her iPod. The ride continued, and Toan watched what he thought, occasionally stealing a glance toward the iPod guy.
One hour later, the bus arrived at the station on campus. The annoying group of girls didn't get off, and Toan was quite relieved about that too. Gathering what few things he owned, he stumbled off the bus and looked around at the crowd before him. Loads of different people doing loads of different things... and many signs were being waved in the air, all sporting names – one sign included his own, being supported by a young, attractive girl. Dragging his things over to the person, he stopped in front of her. Toan suddenly realized how short he was compared to her.
“Why are you waving my name around on that sign?” Toan politely inquired.
“W-what?” The girl looked down toward him, and stared for a moment. He knew she was taking in the fact that he was a Zora, but she quickly shrugged it off, and cheerfully answered “Oh! I’m Katie; I’m your ‘mother’ for the next four years here at LAville University! Here, let’s get your stuff to your dorm.” They began to walk to the dorms.
“You… don’t look anything like my mother…” Toan thought aloud. Again, the girl stammered, and this time blushed. “You’re cute, kid. It’s a welcoming thing here. I’m basically supposed to take care of ya – hence the ‘mom’ role.” She giggled and asked lightly “So what can ya do? Like, your gifts… what are they?”
Toan thought for a moment and replied with, “Well… I…” Toan began, but loud crack of thunder erupted, and Toan instantly thought hide. Katie was one step ahead of him, and grabbed the back of his shirt, and Toan turned and looked at her. She answered him before he could ask. “Don’t worry, just overexcited freshmen. They shouldn’t be doing that though… Anyway, you were saying?”
“I… uh… they tell me it’s called telepathy and telekinesis. Sometimes I can read into others’ minds, too.” Katie thought for one moment before replying with “Oh… hmm…”, then with “…You’ll be a Wave... I think.” She blushed again, and said very quietly “You look like one, at least…”
They arrived at the dorm after a few minutes walk. Helping Toan with his things inside, Katie relayed some of the guidelines and basic freshman information to him, and then bid him a temporary farewell after everything was inside Room 417 of the Waves Dormitory – Toan’s home for the next four years.
It only took Toan a few minutes to put his few possessions on the shelf near the top bunk bed, which was up against the corner of the wall. It was comfortable, being on the top bunk in the corner of the room. He laid down, and looked at the ceiling, and just as he did, the dorm room door swung open. Toan sat back up and noticed a handsome man, dressed in a sharp outfit, had strolled in wearing a smug expression on his face.
“Oh. You must be my roommate, then,” he pronounced in almost accusatory tones. The stranger looked pointedly towards the faucet, which turned on instantly, and the stranger strolled over to it and filled up a glass of water for himself. “Yeah,” he began, as if answering an unsaid question, “I can control water. It’s only one of the many things I’m very good at doing.” He took a sip and continued. “I don’t suppose you can do much – look at the state of your clothes!” he laughed to himself.
Toan looked himself over. Sure, the clothes weren’t perfect, but… “What does that matter?” Toan asked. The conceited stranger answered up with “Well… I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the Waves are quite good-looking… and you’re… well, not… at least not as good-looking as Kevin Elberton III.” he said, indicating himself with his free hand. Toan scowled.
In a flash of an instant, the drinking glass hit the floor and Kevin had pointed to the faucet, which exploded and took half the sink with it, creating a geyser spouting from the wall as he screamed “MY HAIR!” He thrust his handsome head into the geyser as a crowd of other Waves gathered in and around the doorway, laughing at the scene. One of them flicked a finger at the geyser, which instantly ceased, and Toan hopped down from the bunk chuckling as a disheveled Kevin looked his hair over in the mirror for the non-existent flames.
Once Toan got outside, the sun was setting. Stretching out on his back in the grass, he looked skyward began to reflect. Do I really belong with that bunch of arrogant Waves? Well… Katie did say he had the looks… Hmm…
I’m sure not everyone else is as bad as Kevin, Toan grinned to himself.

She was driving down the highway, way too fast, in her sleek black muscle car, cursing herself for not having the navigational sense most people did. She knew she should have printed out a map of the route to the school, but no, her pride wouldn't let her. Luckily, as she continued along, a large green sign directed her to the campus, and she took the next off-ramp down into the main part of the city. After waiting, and swearing, at a few traffic lights, she eventually came in sight of the large complex. It was the biggest school she'd ever seen!
Danae neared the parking lot, and screeched to a halt as a few other freshman scampered into her path. She revved her engine, creating a great roar, and cause the young ones to run away in fear. She smiled in satisfaction, and then sped up until she found a decent place to park her car. She rolled into the spot, and got out of her car. She grabbed her single bag from the backseat, and slung it over her shoulder. Within contained all she would need. A few changes of clothes, her cash, and a couple necessary supplies. Like a video game console.
Leaving behind her car, she locked it with her keys, and after hearing the machine beep once or twice, she proceeded towards the main entrance of the school. As she neared the doors, she noticed that, to her left, several fire adepts were practicing their techniques... and were mainly directing their attacks at each other. Must be some new magic using punks. Such weak little children, those magic using fools were. Never relied on their actual strength. They just relied on their 'powers' to save them from danger. Well, Danae would show them. She's show them that normal humans, or at least nutjobs like her, were not people to be messed with.
There were several newcomers meeting with people holding up names on a piece of cardboard, and Danae wondered if some dork was there waiting for her. After taking a glance around, she noticed that someone was indeed holding up her name. And to Danae's dismay, it was a cheerleader. Oh, god dammit.
"Like, hi! Are you Danae?!" The girl asked, far too excited for her own good.
"Like, totally," Danae replied in monotone.
The cheerleader giggled. "You're funny! Anyway, I'm gonna be your new momma! You can, like, totally rely on me for stuff. Questions, advice, whatever! My name's Eva!"
"You're not my mother," Danae replied, glaring. "Now what do you want?"
Eva shuffled her feet around. "Well, I like, just wanted to make sure you get settled in! And that you meet your new 'family,' and stuff. My boyfriend's a Wave, though! So, um, do you have any powers?"
"Dear god, do you?" The divine wouldn't be so cruel as to give this annoying girl the power to manipulate the elements.
Eva laughed, and it was a high pitched sound that made Danae want to either kill herself or the other girl. "Well, nothing too special! I just have the ability to charm people! But that's just my natural human talents!"
"Uh huh," Danae replied. Well, this girl was going to get her nowhere. She'd played the game long enough, and now it was time to nuke the enemy. She began to walk past Eva, who looked at her in confusion. When the cheerleader began to open her mouth again, Danae grabbed her by the face and shoved her down onto the ground. When the cheerleader yelped, Danae smiled in satisfaction.
As she continued to look around the outdoor area of the campus, she noticed some other teens playing loud rock music, and otherwise acting like morons. They were screaming and laughing, and surprisingly, it was directed at Danae. Never one to stand for any kind of humiliation, Danae stared directly at their leader, a guy wearing a football jersey.
"...the hell is so funny, asshat?" Danae asked.
"You totally showed that girl who's boss!" He replied, laughing loud. "I've never seen Eva get smacked down like that before! You're a total Terror!"
Danae laughed dryly, not getting the meaning just yet. "Why thank you, young man. I'm sure you're mildly decadent too."
Okay, so there was at least one crowd she could fit into. Now, to go find where she was to be staying... or who she was to be staying with. She just hoped it wasn't another damned cheerleader.

The train now behind him, Vincent realized he had no idea what he was supposed to do next. The train tickets had been purchased for him, with a reassurance that he would be taken care of when he arrived, but no one had sat down and told him what to expect. Fearing the worst, Vincent felt an unpleasant sensation in his stomach. The idea of having to ask a complete stranger for help, to put his whole life in the hands of-
"Are you Vincent?"
Vincent turned quickly, forcing himself not to fade or, worse, throw up. In front of him was a pretty young woman, holding a small sign with his name printed in large block letters. The unpleasant sensation in his stomach escalated to dangerous levels, as fear sunk into Vincent's heart. Not only was she a stranger, but a pretty female stranger at that.
"I-I-I'm Vincent," he squeaked out, pushing his glasses up his face.
"No need to be nervous, Vincent," the young lady giggled. "I'm here to help you out. My name's Stephanie, and I'm going to be your mother during your stay at LAville University. Come on, I'll drive you over."
The drive to the university was undoubtedly the longest trip Vincent had ever experienced. The actual distance from the station to the school was actually pretty short; it was Vincent's horribly shy nature that drug time to a snail's pace. Stephanie seemed not to notice Vincent's apprehensions, or was politely ignoring them to protect his feelings. Whatever the case, the unpleasant feeling in his gut was slowly mounting, and if they didn't arrive soon, Vincent feared he would do something quite embarrassing.
"What are your gifts, Vincent?" Stephanie inquired suddenly.
"Huh? Oh... well, I can sort of fade away, but that's about it," Vincent replied softly.
"I could've guessed you'd be a Hawk," Stephanie replied. Noticing the confused look on Vincent's face, she continued. "You see, the school has different dorms for different gifted students. People with the ability to disappear are usually Hawks, and you have a similar personality to other Hawks. I think you'll fit in just fine."
Pulling into the parking lot, Vincent stepped out of the car. Stephanie rummaged through her purse and revealed an envelope. Rolling down the window, she handed it to Vincent.
"Here, it's got your room key and your room number, as well as a map around campus. If you have any problems, I'll be back soon. I have to head back down to the station and pick up another freshman. Also... try to avoid the Terrors. In fact, I'd suggest you get to your room as quickly as possible."
Without another word, Stephanie backed up and drove back the way she had come, leaving Vincent his battered old suitcase and his unpleasant feeling. Hoping to avoid any conflict, Vincent stuck his briefcase under his coat and faded. Slipping through the small groups of students wandering the campus, Vincent found his way to his dorm room and entered quickly, fading back into sight. Inside the room, a young man was conjuring tiny whirlwinds to blow papers around the room. Turning to Vincent, the young man's face grew troubled.
"You're not gonna try to... talk to me, right?" the young man replied anxiously.
Shrugging, Vincent replied, "If I can avoid it." Sharing a smile, Vincent began to unpack, while his room mate made a new wave of cyclones. Though he wouldn't notice until later, the unpleasant feeling in his gut had faded.

'No!' he caught himself. He about let his powers take hold of him. He removed his sunglasses and his eyes shot to the window beside him on the bus. He quickly looked at his reflection, staring at the roots of his hair.
"Go away, go away... please go away!" he mumbled, staring at the blazing red roots starting to show. However, they did diminish and fade, right in time for the arrival of the bus. It was such a small town that he was in, he didn't understand how it could hold a college. There was two stop lights, a bus and train station, and of course, a McDonald's across from the school's entrance. Rek stepped off the bus with the only two bags of stuff he owned. One contained clothes and cigarettes, and the other contained his most valuable possesion. His relic blade, Flame. Flame was a very unique sword forged by an ancient mystic years and years ago. It was with him for years because it was the only thing with him when he was found as an orphaned child. He researched the blade when he got older, but could not find too much information about it. It did, however seem to have a separate mind than Rek, but it was symbiotically bound to him.
He pulled a box of Newport cigarettes from his jeans pocket. Covering his face and mouth very well, he snapped his fingers and it ignited instantly. Rek knew of his gifts, but no one else did. He had none of his powers since he hit puberty. He was only 19, but he was truly an adult. He had experienced so much since he emancipated himself from the orphanage four years ago.
He looked around scanning the area, which was now looking rather quiet. After all, it was nearly nightfall. He looked up at the moon, which was already glowing palely in the late summer sky. As soon as his eyes fell back to the area around him. He noticed prissy-dressed girl standing across the walkway beside the gates to the school. She was showing a fake smile and holding a sign with his name, as incorrectly spelled as it was, on it.
"Yeah, I'm Rekdon Sovrity... But the Rekdon is spelled O-N, not U-N. And Sovrity has no E in it." Rek said coolly to her as he approached her. "Oh, sorry! I'm Tracey. I'm gonna be your mentor for the next four years!" She said, trying to sound as politically correct as she could. "So what house are you in?" She asked him ,starting to sound exasperated, even though he had only been in front of her for a few moments.
"I don't understand what you mean?" he asked, knowing exactly what she meant.
"What are your gifts?" She said, definately sounding annoyed now.
"Oh, I don't have any." Rek lied. He had kept his powers a secret to people he had to remain around for too long to just spill the beans in this new place.
"So your one of... them? One of the normal ones..." Tracey said disdainfully. "Well, I will lead you to your room, but you are pretty much on your own after that. There isn't much i would be able to help you with anyways." She said, as she turned and started walkin at a brisk pace.
Rek was taller than her, so he did have a naturally longer leg span. Quickly, a very plain but clean looking building came into view.
"Well there it is. The rest of the normal students live in there. Your room number and everything is on the back of this sign. Bye..." She laid the sign down and disappeared in a gust of wind.
"She was... nice." He smirked, knowing he made her ill. He put his cigarette out and made his way in, finding the front desk to get his key. After a bit of an argument, he got his key and headed to the elevators. He went up to the 7th floor, aka the Penthouse floor, and found his room. He opened the door, noticing his roommate must already be there, seeing stuff just lying around on one side of the room. Luckily, the window bed was not taken. He unloaded his stuff, wondering where his roommate was and if he would meet him tonight. He pulled his clothes out and put them into his designated dresser. He opened his window, lookling out seeing the arrogant firl who was designated as his mentor. She was hitting on some guy underneath an oak tree beside the lake. He grinned as he stared at the tree intently.
Instantly it combusted into an amazing large inferno. The girl screamed and vanished and the boy jumped into the lake.
"Ha ha ha... serves her right." He grinned, now making the fire diminish and put itself out.
"This is gonna be a fun year." He thought as he waved his hand, making the light switch flip off. He pulled his pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, placing it on the dresser. A cigarette floated from out of the pack, settling on his lips. Instantly the tip ignited, and Rek inhaled the smoke. He grinned, realizing at some point he would have to actually start physically do these things for himself instead of relying on his powers.
He looked out the window up at the now clear, dark sky. He grinned and said again. "This is gonna be a fun year."

"What a peice of shit.." He thought to himself as he leaned his elbow against the open window of his new car his parents bought him in hopes he might use it to once and a while drive back home to see them.
"I have only seen one McDonalds for the last 10 mins.." He thought shaking his head. He glanced up in time to see the grand display of the new University he was to call him for the next four years of his life.
"Joy, the place looks like High School all over again.." He mumbled to himself as he turned into the parking lot. He glanced at the passing of usual cliques you would find in a High School, the Cheerleaders, the Jocks, the Nerds, and a of course the wannabe bad boys and girls.
"Oh my god they even sent me a welcome crew he said noting the very uneasy girl standing holding a cardboard sign with his name written on it. He was a short little thing with long curly blonde hair and glances almost as large as her small little head. She looked quite ackward in her socks pulled up to her upper thighs and her little plaid skirt coming just above them.
"Hello, my name is Wendy Richardson." She said holding out her hand for him to shake. Milo glanced at her and then looked down at her hand that was covered in sweat and who knows what else.
"Milo." He said simply and walked past her hoping she would get the point to at least follow, he wasnt into small chit chat and really didnt care what her real purpose was other then to hold a sign with his name on it.
"Wait!" She called and ran to catch up with him again. "What I was saying was, my name is Wendy and I am to be your.." She stopped to catch her breath and jogged forward again catching the drift that he really didnt want to her details.
Suddenly Milo stopped and turned around. "My what? MOTHER? You know I left one of those at home and I reaaalllly have no need for another one ok? Got IT?! Why dont you just scurry on and just show me where to place my shit and share my room with God knows what other moron I have to be forced to share my space with. Since I REALLLLY hope that MAYBE just MAYBE this guy is a little bit more intelligent then YOU!" He said placing his finger almost directly in the girl face.
She gulped hard and backed up a little and straightened out her glasses. "...alright then, I just need to ask." She stopped and glanced down at her shiny white tennis shoes. "Do you have any powers. No WAIT dont get mad! i just need to know so I know where to take you! honest!" She said hurriedly hoping that he wouldnt raise his voice again.
"Lightning." Milo said simply and turned back around again and started up his quick pace.
"Oh dear.." She muttered knowing perfectly well he was NOT going to enjoy his new dorm. "That would be Boulders, this way." She said running forward and turning left down a path.
"Here is your room, you will find some complimentary brochures and maps, plus your class list layed out on your bed." Wendy stated before dashing out of the room as fast as she possibly could and vowing silently to never cross paths with him again.
"Ah bloody hell." Milo said throwing his duffel back on the bed nearest the wall. He glanced at his new room seeing that his room mate had already been in there and took it upon himself to place up plenty of pictures of Football teams, Basketball teams, and even some 'sexy' Cheerleaders.
"I got a Jock for a mate." He said and sat down on the bed and watched the opened door closely waiting for his room mate to walk in.
"This will be a fun year.." He said sighing.

'Must of fell asleep...' He thought, as he observed the high-strung activity of the university grounds. Students were standing in the lake, causing large waves hit another person or jet streams of water rush into the air. Others were playing what looked like catch by throwing fireballs to each other. Far away, near a distant dorm, a person jumped off the roof and flew into the woods right beyond the campus border. Near a dorm close to him, there was a couple guys wrestling, but body slams not only shook the other opponent, but the ground around the as well, cracks the very earth beneath them. Right below him was just a few people playing football and one person studying on the stairs right outisde the dorm entrance.
Rek grinned as he stared at the fireball, wanting to make it lose control, but he felt a twinge in his mind for a sec. His head spun around to see a rather nerdy guy reading a very large book.
"Damn! Where'd you" Rek started but was cut off by the small kid across the room.
"Shhh, I am studying!" the little guy replied forcefully.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were in here. The name's Rek." Rek smiled towards him.
"Hi Rek, I'm busy, and now behind, so if you please, we can introduce ourselves later but for now I have to study!" Rek's apparent roommate replied rather curtly. Rek was surprised by this comment, but found it rather humorous. He chuckled a bit and his roommate shot him a death glare. With that, he shrugged his shoulders and jumped down off his bed. He pulled his leather jacket on, and kneeled tot he ground. The roommate's eyes quizically bounced to him and then back to his own book. Rek pulled out one of his bags from underneath his bed and removed Flame, his trusty blade, which was still within its sheath.
Rek's roommate's eyes grew wide, and he instantly stared at his book, hoping Rek would realize he was not there. Rek laughed again, knowing every feeling and thought that was within his roommate now. The roommate did not dare look up from his book. Rek slung the blade over his back and headed downstairs and outside into the day. As soon as he stepped outside, he lit up another cigarette to enjoy. He took in all that he saw, wondering what to do first.

Daniel had chosen an isolated part of the train to ride in--far from most other people, since he enjoyed his privacy. He did look over once in a while to see a few would-be students showing off their own powers. At one point, Daniel saw a kid make sparks when he snaped his finger's, making him freeze in place with fright. When he had recovered, he retreated further back in the train, confident he was away from the sparks.
When Daniel was certain no one else was paying attention to him, he reached into his bookbag and pulled out some thread & needles, and then started to knit. Despite the fact that he knew mostly only old people would take it up, Daniel found knitting to a be a relaxing experience. After awhile, he jumped when he heard a voice
"Um, excuse me..."
Daniel prematurely dropped the needles, but managed to regain some of his composure. He turned to the girl who spoke to him.
"... Yes?" he spoke.
"Sorry to bother you... Could I sit back here you?" the girl asked.
"... Sure."
"Thanks..."
Daniel dropped his bookbag to his feet and scooted over to allow the girl more room. She sat down, putting her own suitcase under the seat.
"I'm June." she said
"Daniel." the other responded shortly.
The was a short pause as Daniel decided to resume knitting.
"So... Are you going to LAville University?"
"Yes."
"That's cool..."
The rest of the trip went on, with the occasion short conversation. When everyone started getting off, the two said their good-byes and went their seperate ways. Daniel, dragging his suit case behind, went up to the person who he saw waving a sign with his name on it.
"I am Daniel Eliminsten."
"Oh, hi there. I'm Kelly. I'll sort of be your mother for the next four years--someone who you can ask advice from and such. It's somthing the graduates do if they want."
"It's nice to meet you." Daniel gave a short bow.
"Heh, no need to be so respectful. Anyway, if you'll follow me, I'll be directing you to your dorm. What exactly is your gift?" Kelly asked as she started walking along with Daniel.
"I can fly."
"You can fly eh? So then your a hawk..."
"What?"
"Oh, of the students here, those who have gifts go into certain houses, Wind, Earth, Water and Fire."
'A caste system...' Daniel thought.
"You could call it something like that."
Daniel jumped.
"You can--?"
"Read minds? Oh yes. He he hee..."
They reached one of the dorm buildings and walked up the steps.
"Not much of a talker are ya'?" Kelly asked.
"Not really..."
"Oh well, I'm sure someone is gonna drive that out of you by the end of your stay here. Ah, here's your room."
Daniel walked in. It was fairly sized, and had the expected two beds along with enough space for two roommates, though it appeared he was by himself.
"Just ask for me if you need anything!" Kelly said, and promptly left.
Daniel dropped his stuff on the floor, glad to rid himself of that temperary burden. He decided to stretch out his wings a little bit. Looking around, he decided he might be a bit cramped, but going one wing at a time, he could do it.
First starting on his left side, a lump of metal that was on his back started to move, making sliding sounds as it unfolded, revealing the metal frame of a wing before triangular and oval shaped pieces of energy buzzed into existance. The same happened on Daniel's right, and two mecha-styled wings had been established. Around his tail-bone area, energy-feathers grew out to form tail feathers like that of a bird. One at a time, Daniel gave his wings a stretch. He sighed with the fact that they would be more of a bother when it came to space, but he enjoyed the fact that he would be able to use his wings publicly. This was certain to be a new experience.

"In my class this semester you will be studying..." Tony was trying to concentrate, but he found it so hard with all the distractions going on around him. There were people yawning, people making flames dance and other people admiring themselves in mirrors that they had created themselves. It was just so, so, so different.
But, he wasn't the only one losing track, most people were just there to pick up their unit outline, and they wouldn't bother showing up to any other lectures. He wasn't one of those, he was going to get everything he could out of his semester, if that made him a nerd; then so be it.
"So that’s what we'll be studying. I hope you have fun and try not to have too much anal sex..." The lecturer knew nobody was listening, so he was beginning to have some fun with it. Occasionally he saw the glance of somebody in the first row who actually knew what he was saying, but that didn't mean much. Tony didn't hear what was going on down the front, so it didn't bother him.
There was however, this hot chick, sitting over in a group of girls a bit away from him. Tony wasn't the best with the ladies, so he thought he had no chance, all he could do was admire the beauty of her. She was like.... an angel. So sweet, so lovely, and all things nice. Until she opened her mouth and swore at the lecturer, and invited back the cycling team to practice riding, her.
Tony couldn't help but laugh. People around here were certainly different.

The one thing that he did realize about the class is that these things didn't even phase the professor. He stood in fron of the class behind a clay covered desk talkin in a monotone voice with no expression. Even when ones of the 'sparkies' made a dragon of fire fly around the room the out the window, he didn't blink.
Rek hoped that the other professors here at LU were a little bit more interesting or he wouldn't pass a single class. He had an hour before his next class and it was about lunch time. He had explored this campus his first full day here and found most of the buildings and colleges. The college dining hall was about a five minute walk away. He started walkin and pulled out Flame throwing it up and catching it along the way.
When he reached the dining hall, he evaluated each of the restaurants within, wonderin which one he chose today. There was the "Four Winds Cafe", a small coffee shop, "Red Hotz Grill", an open grill restaurant with varieties of meat inside, "River Wild Bakery", a sweet shop with a large selection of candies and cookies alike, "Cliff Hanger's" which was somewhat like a sports bar and grill inside. There was also the general school cafe which served daily specials. He decided to take his chance at the Four Winds, seeing as he valued time alone as well as the others inside seemingly did.
After ordering a mocha and a panini sandwich, he sat down next to a window looking outside. He started to eat his sandwich, not really wanting to be alone right now anymore. He had been here nearly 4 days now and had not even made an aquaintance.
But it was his fault, for he didn't make an effort to talk to anyone. He had never been in a setting quite like this before. He just kinda wished he knew how to act here.
But in the back of his mind, he knew how he should act, but he refused to let people know he had powers. He could not be himself in front of people because his powers were a part of his personality.
Rek gazed outside into the forest, looking for answers in the distant trees, but he would not find any there.

Tony was sitting at the four winds cafe. He saw another guy walk in, get some werid sandwhich and sit down by himself. He was pondering something, but Tony thought there couldn't be any harm in talking to the guy.
"Um, Hi. I'm Tony." he said as he sat down next to the guy.

Rek snapped out of his gaze and turned his head to the direction of the voice. A guy not much younger than him stood there looking at him kinda blankly. He had a cap on his head, almost hiding his glasses and blue eyes beneath the bill. For some odd reason, he was dressed in what appeared to be a windbreaker suit covering his arms and legs.
"I'm Rek..." He replied nearly immediately out of habit. Rek motioned the seat across the table from him for Tony to sit.

Toan was finally beginning to memorize the campus, figuring out where things were, admist getting lost frequently, in which case he simply followed someone until he ended up in a familiar place, or the person being tailed told him off or lost him. Employing this method of curiousity, following, and ultimately memorizing his way about, Toan found the best spot for thinking was in the basement of the Terrors dormitory, where the air conditioning/heating components among other necessities were housed. Nobody disturbed him down there, and it was a very secluded, quiet spot on a rowdy campus.
Around four days after Toan arrived, he followed one unwilling student towards the school cafeteria, only to realize this student was taking an unprecedented turn towards an area Toan had seen before - the student dining halls, filled with restaurants.
Toan's eyes immediately found the brightest one, a window filled with candy and cookies, named River Wide Bakery. After a stunned moment of disbelief, only one thing registered in Toan's head: Sweets!
Charging into the shop, he came to a rest in front of the clear countertop, where hundreds of candies were housed inside. Looking up, he saw a female cashier staring intently at him... and looking around, he noticed others were staring as well. Toan felt himself begin to blush, and realized it must've been because he came running into the shop like a bat out of Hell. Figuring he'd get what he came for, Toan stated the obvious.
"Uhhhhm...I want some candy."
The cashier replied sweetly, "What kind of candy?"
An unanticipated roadblock occurred, but Toan swerved around it nimbly. "Anything will do," he replied with a trace of a grin. The cashier bagged up some candy, and Toan charged it using a debit card he found in the Terror's dormitory. Sitting down at a table in the shop, he began to eat his candy slowly, savoring the taste, but still earning strange glances from shopgoers.
"Mmmm...."

Other than that, Daniel's morning was rather uneventful. His first class was History of Human Thought, but most time was spent just covering the outline of what would be studied over the course. It was rather boring, but Daniel kept his expression so monotonous it would be hard to tell what he was thinking. After the class was over, Daniel checked his schedule and the time to see that it would be awhile before another class, and decided to go get something to eat. He decided to use his run/flap combination to save on time. He began to regret this when he arrived at the dining hall--the constant unfolding and collapsing of his wings was found to be tiring.
Taking his mind of the discomfort in his back as his wings went into their compacted form, Daniel started having a look around, his yellow eyes and brown/white hair being the only giveaway that he was more than the average human. Having eaten at the Four Winds Cafe for the past few days, he decided to have a change of pace.
'Maybe I'll run into that June girl if I eat around anyway...' he thought to himself.
Taking a quick scan of the available options, Daniel decided to check out the River Wild Bakery. He thought he needed something sweet anyway. Upon walking in, he noticed everyone looking at a fish-like student who must have been at least a foot shorter than Daniel himself was, eating candy. Shrugging it off, Daniel walked up to the counter after looking the selection over.
"I would like one cheese danish, please."
"One cheese danish coming up."
After going through a small transaction, Daniel looked around for a place to sit, only to find that every table was occupied. He looked over at the fish-boy, deciding it might not be so bad to sit with him, since most of the other people looked a little snooty. Walking over, Daniel sat down and started munching on the danish.

Then the chair across from him moved, and another student sat before him with a cheese danish... and yellow eyes. Yellow eyes! So help me God, yellow eyes!
Toan stared unblinkingly for a few moments into this fellow's eyes before finally swallowing the jawbreaker whole and saying, meekly, "...Hi."

"Hello." He greeted simply.
There was an awkward silence. Daniel never really felt that comfortable socializing in the first place. However he remembered the promise Athena made him make before he had left for the University: “Make at least five friends!”
“My name is Daniel. What is yours?”

"Goddamn it it is crowded.." He mumbled to himself and gazed down at his watch to note the time. "Ok Milo, try to either come 2 hours earlier or later so the place isnt so busy.." He thought and gazed around for the resturant or shop that was the least crowded.
"Looks like it is just a donut today." He said and headed towards the bakery. He pushed past the people standing near the display of what was available figuring they must have an inability to decide what they actually wanted.
"Ummm excuse me sir I was before you.." A blonde girl with icy blue eyes stated. Milo thought she was quite attractive but obviously dumb.
"Oh I am so sorry blondey buuut I just assumed that you were just merely looking because I happened to notice you were standing there for 5 odd minutes just starring at the glass display and secretly wondering if maybe if you just stared at the food long enough maybe..just maybe you could actually taste the food without gaining any fat that might just go to your already overly skinny ass." Milo said shockingly in one breath.
"pshaw." She said and glanced at the person working behind the counter. "Ignore this asshole here I was first. I want a fruitless yogurt please, and make sure it is the low fat. Oh and yes, a plain bagel with no creamcheese." She said and glanced at Milo hoping tha tmaybe he wouldnt say anything.
Milo looked at the girl and smirked. "Umm humm, now be careful blondey those yogurts might just have some, I know this might be scary, REAL sugar in them." He said winking.
The girl simply glared at him before exiting the bakery and taking a drink of water she had in her purse. Milo turned his attention back to the worker.
"Yes, now I would like some real food, two strawberry danishes and Pepsi." He said and the worker nodded and told him the price. Milo payed and then sat down on the last stool at the counter. He gazed over at the strange fish and the strange looking man sitting next to him.
"god this place if full of freaks." He mumbled to himself and bit into his danish. He tried to concentrate on his eating and completely ignore the fish freak but his curiousty got the better of him.
"Milo you are feeling awfully social today arent you.." He thought to himself and then gazed his attention at the fish boy not really caring that he MIGHT be interrupting some conversation he was having with the other guy. He leaned forward and gazed at the guy.
"Yo." He said hoping to gain his attention.
"Ok, what ARE you? I mean that as to say are you human?" He said attempting to be as friendly as he possibly could so the guy might actually give him an answer.

"That is a highly subjective question, one that is measured by a multitude of philosophers, prophets, and societies." he responded coolly.
Daniel noticed the other's expression.
"From a purely scientific standpoint the answer would be No, I am not quite human."

Toan grinned at Daniel, and was contemplating handing him a Jolly Rancher, but before he could something happened that made Toan feel as if he were either very popular or quite an unusual sight in the River Wide Bakery.
A scrawny, red-haired guy swooped down upon the table, said "Yo", and before Toan could register what was going on, he was asked "Ok, what ARE you? I mean that as to say are you human?"
As Daniel responded, Toan thought for a moment, and decided thinking wasn't as much fun as thinking with someone else doing the hard part, that is to say, the actual thinking part. Toan looked into this fellow's light blue eyes for a quick moment and, once Daniel was finished, replied, "And I wouldn't exactly call myself a 'fish freak', if that's what you were wondering..." The Zora rounded the statement off with a twisted smile.

It was in exiting one of the many restaurants that things took a turn for the worse. In his defense, it's not every day that one sees someone part fish and part human. Managing to trip over nothing, Vincent fell flat on his face, tossing his hot bowl of oatmeal all over a rather frightening person with red hair. With the wind knocked out of him, Vincent was unable to move, and worse, unable to run away. Realizing there was no other choice, Vincent faded, hoping the redheaded guy wouldn't mind.

"keh." He stated simply just in time to see a huge mound of oatmeal fly over his head and land on his left hand.
"Oh my f*cking god!" He screamed as his hand felt like it was being burned off by the intensly burning heat the oatmeal was causing. He quickly flung his hand up and shock it wildly to cause the oatmeal to fly off in all directions.
"Ok..who he hell did this." He turned his head quickly in the direction of where the oatmeal must have began it's flight. He stood up off of his stool and gazed around to see if he could see any human being who had turned red in embarassment. Of course he saw nobody in sight being as the thrower had turned invisible.
"Ok, I will give you 10 seconds to show yourself before I become REALLY angry." Milo said simply his fish tightening so hard they turned white. Of course it had to scare just about anyone that he COULD become any worse.

He asked Tony a question to which he expected no verbal answer. "Whats going on in there?" He got out of his seat and walked out of the restaurant with his sandwich, now placed neatly back in the paper bag the cashier had given him, as well as his mocha latte. He leaned up againt the door to the River Wild Bakery, watching some guy rant about wanting to know who threw something at him, er something like that. Rek wasn't entirely sure what had happened.
"Ok..who he hell did this."
A red haired boy said, scanning the crowd around him.
Rek smirked slightly as the boy continued to rant. It was humurous to him to be a bystander. He was usually in these when they happened. But then again, this conflict, even though it did not involve him, was not over.
Rek looked down in front of where the boy was standing, still staring at the customers of the bakery. It was weird. He felt a thoughts he couldn't account for. It was like a ghost or something was in the room. Rek was puzzled. It them hit him. The thoughts were panicked and worried. It was whatever pissed the red-headed kid off.
"Ok, I will give you 10 seconds to show yourself before I become REALLY angry." The red-headed guys continued with his threats.
Rek's take charge attitude came into play, which was rarely a good thing. He looked at the guy, wondeirng what he could do to get the guy to calm down, or make a chance for the real culprit to get away.

“LAVille University.”
“Ugh…Hate that thing…”
For the past few hours the “thing”, that is to say the automated and obviously computerized voice of this vehicle, had been announcing the stops throughout the whole ride. Normally, this was a great convenience. But to one of the many freshmen about to enter the university, all she could think of was how she’d just LOVE to disassemble it. Permanently. Well at least that’s what she’d be thinking for the next five minutes until she was coherent again. Most of the time Annika wasn’t this annoyed when she woke up. Loud people didn’t bug her either, usually. Heck, she certainly couldn’t be called meek and mild herself. But right now, she just wanted off what she considered a temporary prison as soon as humanly possible.
It’s bad enough to put a bunch of young “adults” on a mass transit system. Add in the fact that some had certain powers that could become unsafe and it suddenly turned into an unholy terror. Then to add insult to injury, her CD player’s batteries had long since drained. And so despite being near the back, the desperate girl was off with the first five at the front.
“Yes! FREEDOM!” she couldn’t help yelling, doing a little victory dance for surviving the ordeal. Next time, she was making her brother drive her. She’d find ways to make him cooperate. No ideas at the moment, but there was no need to dwell on that for too long. At least she didn’t have any luggage to worry about since she’d sent a lot of it in advance to be kept in storage until she arrived. Just her backpack and laptop to worry about. As predicted, within five minutes she was her normal self again; the annoyances at the moment were forgotten. It was now time to set off! So she thought.
“You? You a sparkie?” Someone asked who’d planted themselves in front of her. This did not amuse the recently liberated freshman much.
“Me?” Annika asked, seeing no one else. “Well, no. Do I loo-Oh. This?” she caught on and fingered her fiery red and blonde striped hair. “Nope. Nothing to do with fire or anything else except messed up genes; I’m normal. Are you here to show me my dorm?”
As soon as the word “normal” escaped the young lady’s lips, the boy who’d stopped her suddenly looked completely uninterested and almost downright disdainful. “Hell no.” And with that he waked on.
She’d heard there were rivalries on this campus, but she wasn’t expecting them to be so heated.
Recovering from the rude awakening she noticed something on a sign that some girl was holding up. “Annika Acheron.” Ah. Her new “mother.” She continued to walk past as if she hadn’t even noticed. “Sorry ‘mum’. I’ve already got a mother and a darn good one at that,” she muttered to herself with a smirk. “Bet you’d never let me play with caustic chemicals either,” the devious girl added. Junior year chemistry had never been so fun or so easy. Most people would call Annika insane. Then again, most people didn’t have a scientist for a mother with slight pyromaniac tendencies. Good times, good times.
Now then, to find the dorms. She’d find them herself. No need for a campus appointed “mother” or some uppity jerk. It couldn’t be that hard to find the stupid building. Then she could get her stuff and shove it into a nice semblance of order. Of course, Annika’s definition of order and the usual definition often clashed. Well SHE knew where to find everything. People just don’t look hard enough. After that, she could find something to eat. Or maybe she’d just toss her current items on her bed, then eat, then acquire the rest of her possessions. Much better plan.
After asking directions from some people and answering vaguely when asked if she had any powers, she found her dorm and got her key. And met her roomie. Well not really met since neither had exchanged greetings, insults, or looks yet.
“Umm…Hi?” She offered, crossing the room to drop her bags. Now to find if the horror stories of evil roommates would become a reality.

She mainly kept to herself, avoiding the needless rivalries, but at the same time being sure to verbally or physically smack down anyone who gave her any guff about being one of those pitiful 'normal' children. Those "Sparkies," as they were called, were the main source of that trouble. The other groups seemed to keep mainly to themselves, or were at least wise enough to leave Danae well enough alone. Every day she woke up (usually late), went to her classes, and return to her empty dorm room to play video games throughout the night. On a moral level, she was surprisingly being a good girl. Nothing had been stolen, caught on fire or murdered. At least not with any involvement from her.
On one particular day, she had late classes, mainly being that of Chemistry (her new source for all her pyromaniac supplies) and English. Both were easy enough, and required little studying on her part. The difficult aspects of Chemistry did not interest her, as she already knew how to make all the pretty explosives. She just needed to steal chemicals after class ended. But she was building up some level of trust first, in order to make it seem like she was just a harmless smartass.
Since her classes were late, she was taking the time to sleep in. And was loving it. She was curled up on her bed, wrapped in a nice blanket. She was so toasty warm, in her quiet little room, with no one to bother her. She was half asleep, as it was getting late in the morning and she was having a more difficult time catching some z's. And then.... it was ruined. She heard footsteps approaching, and hoped to god it was someone entering a nearby dorm room.
Alas. It was not. The door burst open, and there, disrupting her sleep, was some redheaded punk who never learned to knock. Danae sat up, her hair in disarray, and a grimace plastered on her face. Damn. The roommate showed up after all. She swore that if this new girl was some prissy little bitch, there would be blood spilled before sunset, if not before.
Danae spoke calmly, betraying an inner rage in her eyes. "Hello. My name is Danae. Do you see that PlayStation over there? Yes, that nice one. If you touch it, you lose a hand. Do you see my other stuff? If you touch those things, you lose an arm. If you speak before ten, when I'm still asleep, I'll cut out your tongue. If you're one of those bright happy people that hates violence, well, then you won't be lasting long here."
With that, Danae sank back down and pulled the covers over her body again.
"Good night."

Tony thought this is where he could come in handy. He walked over to where the boy was, or wasn't, and touched him. Then he made them both disapear, to outside the resteraunt.
"Its alright, you can come back now." Tony realised that he wasn't alone in wanting to avoid confrontation, most of the hawks hated it.

The beginning of the year at University, it seems, was very much similar to that in high schools, Helena Shirowa surmises. The spotless, freshly polished shiny floors, the clean, scuff and marker free walls, and the rather neat ceilings, no yet marke by the various hanging pencils and spitballs that usuall found their way there by Spring's end. Yet she reminds herself that that last part refers to high schoolers - certainly, college age students would generally be mature and old enough to realize that, frankly, wasting time here would only hurt themselves and no one else. At least, that's what she had heard. Still, at this point, all that accompanies her thoughts are the brisk clicking of her heels along said clean floors, as she hurridly makes her way down the hall to her class, rather expertly keeping a firm grip onto her belongings and glancing around the pristine hallways through her oddly "perfect" glasses. Hmph she thinks to herself, if only she knew, that I of all people am nervous about my first day lecturing a university crowd, I'd never hear the end of it...
But, she reminds herself, that was another life, and for once, it truly was long, long ago. Besides, remembering the good times also ivariably brought up the bad...
She stops, shaking her head slightly as she glances over at a doorframe, changing the subject to herself. Ignoring the few young men and women milling about - some rushing to go to class, some lazily loitering, and other in between - Helena, through a few wisps of her dark violet hair that had escaped the intricate yet conservative hairstyle she bore, sees the auditorium where her first lecture would begin, neatly labeled "History 101." Swallowing hard, she reaches forward and confidently, grips the brass door handle, as she suddenly remembers when she first took the job, earlier that summer...
"......and that's the campus, Dr. Shirowa."
"Again, please call me Helena..." Ignoring the slightly less busy bustle of the summer session students wandering around the open campus, the shades wearing, more casually dressed Helena folds her arms as she takes a glance around the wide, open campus, shrugging the heat as she stands in her jeans and rather well worn boots. Looking back the the infinitely more distinguished looking gentleman that had been showing her around for thelast week or so, she questions, apparently for the umpteenth time.
"Again, I have to ask....why me? I mean, I've read so much about LAville University back home, and while I'm more then flattered to be asked about coming here as a professor, I'm still a little puzzled."
"Well, you do have a doctrine in world history, complete with a thesis that all of us in the department will jealously admit was brilliant, especially given your age at the time."
"Yes, but..."
"Plus, you are easily one of the top teachers inyour entire state, perhaps even the nation. We're inf act a little surprised that you turned down the offer from your own university to teach there to instead work at that public high school."
"Hey, 'that public high school' is a place I love and not a place I intend to leave until I retire. It's the most rewarding experience I've had yet in my life." The older man shakes his head, raising his arms to calm Helena down.
"Whoa, hold on, I certainly did not mean to insult you, Doctor..."
"...Miss, if you insist on not using my first name..."
".....Miss Shirowa, but think of the oppurtunies available to you here!"
"All I need is the chance to care for students and to teach them a subject I personally love. I always found the university lectures to be far too impersonal, quite frankly, and besides.." Helena trails off somewhat as she makes a motion towards herself, "I'd like to think I'm professional, but as you might've noticed, I'm not exactly one for tact." Walking off slightly and looking down a slight hill to the rest of the campus, she adds,
"Plus, the only sort of "critical claim" I've ever received is winning "Favorite Teacher" in the student polls for 6 years straight and being the best player in the annual Faculty/Student Baseball game." The older man walks up behind her and nods, adding,
"Yes, I recall that you even managed to out-perform the star baseball and softball players on the school teams."
"Indeed, I have. That's the thing, you see..." She turns, her violet hair whipping slightly from the wind, "I love that school, and love my life as it is. Nothing else at this point could make me happier. Plus, I can get so much closer and more involved in my students' lives and problems in High School then at a University, and trust me when I say that I want to ensure that those I teach get more then just a random memorization of dates and events from me." With a sigh, the man replies as the notably taller glances down at him,
"Miss Shirowa, I assure you...this University is not what one would call your average school. In fact, the very reason why we are offering you this position is because of your hands on involvement at your school. But.....if it's futile for me to even try to pull you away, then I suppose it's a moot point..." Breathing deeply, Helena shakes her head, replying,
"No.....I'm sorry, I guess I'm just a little attatched to my current life. It just took me so long to finally find something I was happy with....something that actually meant something to the world... Rather darkly, she adds to herself, "...something positive, anyway..."
"Well....I'll tell you what then. How about you just try the job out...for a semester. I'm sure the school would let you off for that long enough, and if you're still not interested, then you'll be free to go back to that little seaside town of yours." Pondering the thought, Helena rubs her fairly strong chin, before finally givin in.
"Very well. We have a deal."
"Good! Good! That's great to hear! Now, I can finally let the cat out of the bag!"
"....bag?"
"Yes, well, you remember how I said that this was no ordinary university? Comes with me to my office, and I shall explain. By the way....I will have to mention though, Miss Shirowa, that your violet hair will probably have to g-"
"My hair isn't dyed, sir. I was born this way."
"Hmmm...then perhaps you will find yourself fitting in after all..."
Perhaps she would indeed, Helena concludes as she opens the door into the rather loud auditorium like setting, alebit one with large, bright windows looking out into the campus outside. She was certainly skeptical at the time of people with supposed powers, though once she saw some students playing around outside the man's office, she grudgingly accepted it - though it took awhile to explain that the only thing her genes gave her was her hair color, and nothing more. Well, nothing more perhaps then having the ability
in order to be naturally strong and rather well gifted, but still a "mere" human nonetheless. She walks into the classroom, unnoticed by the mostly talkative bunh of freshmen, and clamly places her bags and belonging son the desk at the head of the shallow stadiums eating style room.
"Hello everyone!" No response. Clearing her throat, she tries again.
"Hey, if I can have everyone's attention!" Still nothing. With a sigh, Helena brings both of her hands up to her mouth and wincing, shrilly whistles. At that, everyone comes to a dead halt, after quick groan of grabbing their ears and wondering where the evil, devilish noise came from.
Hmph, and I didn't think that would ever come in handy again... Clearing her throat once more with a small smile, Helena finally starts,
"Hello everyone, and welcome to History 101. I'm your professor for this term, Helena Shirowa, and I'm glad all of you could be here today. Now, let's get this out of the way right now - I know none of you want to behere since, quite frankly, you don'thave much of a say in theamtter due to this being a required class. Also, I seriously doubt that many, if any, of you are crazed enough for thsi to be your major as I was, so I'll make this brief. If we all cooperate, this term can and will go by much quicker, and surprisingly enough, it can be fun. History is an essential subject, and it can and will be interesting in this class. Now, the syllabus is available at..."
Turning, she picks up a piece of chalk and leans towards the chalkboard, ignoring the groans and eye rolls regarding her comments about history - not to mention the "MILF" whispers coming from the back of the classroom, that she easily made out despite their attempts to keep it quiet - and starts to write the website. In a flash, however, she quickly spins around and rasies her hand up to her face, snatching a paper airplane from out of the air, much to the classes amusement and surprise. Taking off her glasses and narrowing her eyes, she examines the airplane and, much to the dumbfuned classes shock, comments,
"You know, if I were going o attempt to mess with a professor, I'd at least try to put some thought into it, rather then makin such a crudely constructed paper airplane. The concept is fine, but..." Adjusting theairplane somewhat with a few extra folds, Helena procedes to pull a pin from out of her intricate hairstyle and fastens it onto the nose of the plane. Having already figured out who had tossed the plane, she suddenly hurls the now rather painful airplane at said person, as it zooms and smacks the young man in the right arm. With a rather girly yelp, he leaps out of his seat and graps his arm, all while Helena places back on and adjusts her glasses, smiling as the class laughs.
"Don't worry dear, the pain should go away shortly. Now, as I was saying, the syllabus will be on my website, at..."

Rek stepped forward to where Tony and the other "thing" were. He was only feet away from the angry red head.
"I did it. So whats it to you? What are YOU gonna do about it?" Rek said, fingering his blade on his back with one hand. He grinned as he awaited the red head's reply.

So much for pleasantries. It was definately time to go. Maybe after her roommate woke up at the crack of twilight, she'd be in a better mood. Maybe she was a vampire. Naw, wrong dorm. Unless... No, the administration couldn't be THAT stupid. Let a vampire into the normal dorms. "Help me, Buffy! Save me! Feh. Yeah right," she thought and let a mischevious smile cross her features. Well it was wandering time now and food seemed like a good objective. Let other people worry about vampires or something. Maybe she'd get some batteries for her CD player too. Life was boring when there wasn't any background music. Or at least a subtle distraction.
After several wrong turns and finally resigning to finding a map, Annika arrived at the cafeteria. Time to discover if college cafeteria food was better than highschool. If not, she was in for one miserable time three times a day. Perhaps a fruit smoothie from one of the outlets would be her best bet for the moment. Something with lots of sugar; processed or natural, it was all good. Settling on some sort of raspberry concoction she was about to leave when she noticed someone throwing one large hissy fit. Some guy with unnatural red hair. Sort of looked like an anime character or something.
Figures. Pretty boys like him seemed to always be channeling some PMSing woman or something. Ah! She'd have to name this syndrome and then drop her mother a line on her discovery! Her mother had been joking about this for years even before Annika was born but she'd never named it! Well it was about time someone did.
"Red alert!" she called to no one in particular. "We have a serious case of BBS! B!tchy Bishounen Syndrome!"

"Forget it, I will deal with you some other time." He said his eyes flashing. He shoved past the people until he spotted the general direction of where he had heard the comment coming from. He finally spotted a girl nearby who appeared to still be smirking from her great comment.
He quickly glanced at the huge crowd of people who seemed to have joined in to listen to them, he thought to himself 'well honestly these people have nothing better to do with their time.'
"Ok people why dont you go despruse and go join your damn sororities and faternities and go tell them about the GREAT show you got to see of one poor man get his hand SCALDED with hot oatmeal" He said and at the last comment stared directly at Rek.
"But really, I think you better go mind your GOD DAMN F*CKING BUSINESS and leave!" He said pointing in the direction of the door.
"I mean really if you arent in here to buy some pastries then really I dont think you have any business being in here." He said and nodded towards the poor helpless workers who seemed to have lost a ton of color to their face.
He quickly glanced at Annika. "Now YOUU missy, get a f*ckin life!" He said pointing his finger in her direction. "I promise you that whatever happened here has nothing to do with you, and personally if I was you little MISS I wouldnt go stickin your nose where it doesnt belong because you know what? You might just get hurt." He said raising his eye brows.
"I will honestly tell you that I dont give a flying f*ck about what you realllly and I mean really truely think about me, but obviously you think you are pretty damn smart about making that comment now dont you?" He said waiting for her reply.

Leaving the rest of the normals behind, Danae headed down to a nearby establishment for a quick bite to eat before setting off to her classes. But apparently, she would be treated to a show as well as food! Before she even reached the door, she could hear screaming from within, and that automatically made her eyes brighten. Oh please, let there be conflict.
She swung the door open and enter, just in time to see... what? Her roommate of all people, getting into a fight with some other redhead. And that other redhead looked like he needed to be smacked around. Another loudmouth who was treading in Danae's new turf. It was an honor thing. Her roommate may have woken her up early, but hey, you gotta protect your roomie. Or at least, it was an excuse to fight.
And so Danae approached Milo from behind, just as he was closing with his final rant. And what did Danae do? Why, she shoved the back of his head forward, hoping to knock him completely off his feet.
"You have a very loud, and vulgar mouth, do you know that?" Danae asked. "Perhaps it could use a washing out with soap if you can't mind your manners. Apologize to these people for your crude language, young man!"
Nevermind that Danae would probably start swearing here in a few minutes, but that was another matter entirely.
