Mildly, yes. Nothing serious.

OK then ... ignore the last couple of posts that were a result of my confusion.

Actually, I don't think there's anything in the Bible that prohibits saying God's name. We just sort of forgot how to say it after the Jewish exile.

No, it's just a bad idea, should you somehow get it right. The sound carries a great deal of power, us having it's pronunciation would be like a seven-year-old having a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

Uh...like I said in science, I don't believe in magic. Care to explain?

It's not magic, it's miracle. You believe in that.

Yeah I do, but miracles can't happen unless God let's them happen. Therefore, knowing God's name doesn't put him in some corner, that he has to perform miracles on command. God doesn't answer to anyone except by choice, so if you happen to say his name, the only thing you'll get is a loud voice saying "what's up?"

What do Jews think happens if you say God's name?

Plenty of things. God's power is there. How do angels do things? For example, you could give life to clay, you could destroy the world, raise the dead- no-one here is ready to use that sort of thing.

But why would God destroy the world if he didn't want to?

Well, you probably couldn't do that. You could do a lot of damage though.

Remember, every little thing is a miracle, but that doesn't mean god cares. Humanity was wiped out? What a shame. Gabriel, make seven copies of this, would you?

Well yeah, but the Christian God cares about dudes, so he's not gonna let some dude who knows ancient Hebrew wipe out the world. Oh well, the Christian God and Jewish god might be similar, but no one said they were identical!

They are, though! He cares, but either the one who cares about them intimately or the one who knows how to just let go is on Prozac.

And both are on Ganja.

They're both the same, but god's never been the most stable fellow. I mean, just look at the Garden of Eden:

I shall create the Earth, and put man and woman upon it! But if they eat from the Tree I'll WHUP their assess...
You ATE what? That's it- OUT!
Oh, it was the snake? Bad, bad snake! I'm so sorry about this whole thing...FOREVER SHALL YOU TOIL IN THE DUST!But if that's too hard, I'll make sure you always come out above the animals, OK?

Unless you go with the whole divine plan thing.

But I make up a lot of stupid words...
