So what do you think single or split? from what I have read here it seems most people believe that there is a single timeline. Anyone out there think that there is a split timeline? If so can you give a reason?

I'm not sure which I believe in I kinda think both are possible.

I do have a theory for the single timeline though. In TWW when the King tells Zelda/Tetra and Link that they will find a new land that will be there own and not to call it Hyrule do you think maybe they could of found and started Labrynna? How does that sound?

Thanks for any comments theories or suggestions.

As to your theory, no.

Seeing as what would happen the Hyrule then.

Personally I think the spilt timeline is more likely, although I haven't formed a timeline yet.

I'm a single timeliner all the way. Alternative timelines seem an easy way out, have no real evidence and if two timelines, why not an infinite amount? Besides, it depends on how you view the games. I think they're to be viewed as a series of ancient legends and scrolls written at the time and handed down - since we have all of them, they're all from the same timeline.

The main reasons for believing in split timelines are as follows.

- They are implied by OoT's ending.
- They were implied by Aonuma when he said OoT had two endings and TWW is in the adult ending.
- It is the simplest and most straightforward way to put both TWW and ALttP after OoT. TWW and ALttP both seem very clearly to go after OoT, but they do not work very well at all in the same timeline. The solution is to put TWW in the adult timeline and ALttP in the child timeline. TWW is put in the adult timeline because this is consistent with what Aonuma said, and because various things allude to the adult timeline (the sage stained glass windows, the statue of the adult Hero of Time).

There's nothing wrong with split timelines being the easy way out. Why do you want to make your lives harder? It's not like we're obliged to stay with one timeline at any cost. If the creators intended split timelines, and there is evidence for them, and they work BETTER than a single timeline, then there's no problem at least considering them!

Davo, is right. There's nothing wrong with considering split timelines. But I like single timelines better; they're far less messier.

Also, I feel that whenever I need to go into depth about about a timeline theory, I feel that the theory is wrong. If the creators intended for there to be a timeline, then it shouldn't need explanations that require precise details to work.

I suppose you're right, but I still don't like split timelines. And as I put OoT and the IW seperately (despite your article, which was very good), it doesn't create too many problems for me.

Tigan, it is a good thought, but your Labrynna theory can also fit in a multiple timeline.
