But.. ummm *thinks* The best Anime Movie I've seen recently would be Metropolis, its soo loverly and the plot is great. And manga, hmm, once again, somthing quite new, either XXX-holic or Tsubasa, both by clamp. They finaly have their style pinned to a T, they got a bit wish-washy with Angelic Layer!

Escaflowne- I love this one because it keeps me on my toes and I love the facts the characters can fly and I like the mystic moon idea ^-^
Cowboy Bebop- Space like, love Spike's attidue hate the ending, but I was a great anime I wish they had more, but I love the spce bounty hunter type thing.
Inuyasha-Got to love the evil cute demons! But I like it because the difference in characters and the fact that it is something I look forward to every sat.
I admit I don't really read manga's all that much so I am more of the Anime person....

Full Metal Panic- I love this one because it has humour..action..mecha..and love pretty much everything an anime should have to be entertaining. Plus it has enjoyable characters and the situation the characters get in arent overly predictable.
Cowboy Bebop: I love the characters in this..like Spike..he isnt even that bishie but yet his personality is so intriging. Plus...I love how all through the anime they give you little hits about characters back story so it is a puzzle that keeps you guessing tell the end. Plus heck..it is funny as hell..and gawd do I want Spike's Ship!
FLCL: It is..like Ed on crack what can I say..it has only 7 episodes but yet it is all you ever need.
Rurouni Kenshin: I love how this 'series' teaches you in a little about history. Besides just having a story..and making it up as it goes..Kenshin manages to throw in little bits about the Japanese past that many americans dont know. Nobuo even throws in actual historical figures like Saitoh. Plus..Kenshin's past is revealed by the second season..something that you have been guessing from the beginning..why is a wanderer? Why did he decide to throw away the fame he could have?
Miyazaki: My true passion *huggles him* this guy is an Anime genius..all of his movies...so far to date that i have seen are just SO Imginative and..just brilliant. Enough said..everyone is pretty original and creative. He doesnt just create the same anime over and over.. (ok there is always a heroic GIRL and a love interest boy)..
...>.> enough for now I shall add more..some other time

I'm so proud. She named off four anime that involve futuristic plots (at least Miyazaki does half the time), and two that have mecha as a huge plot device.Originally posted by Jaina@Sep 14 2004, 09:43 PM

Hmm...my fave anime is probably Noir (even if it is a bit slow...), most likely because of the amazing music and the ability to actually show the fights in battle scenes..not just a flash and someone falls to the ground, they actually show the kicks, the hits..and again, to technoed up orchestra quite often. I could almost compare it to Cowboy Bebop for that (although the series are so different that it's impossible to even name similarities....they're both just well detailed, well put together series). I haven't seen CB for too long, though, and more in a jumbled mess of episodes than the entire series in order..so I can't put it at the top of my list.
Fave manga...ah..Inuyasha or Full Metal Panic. A co-worker introduced FMP to me, I introduced it to Jaina, Washu, and Delphi...I love both manga for the angst factor. But not like Eva angst, where everything is going wrong, instead....anger and confusion with that one small ray of hope to hold onto. And the tough guy constantly getting beat up by the school-girl is always, although in every other series, still a fun break from the doom-and-gloom of their world falling apart around them.
Though hey, Jaina. Are you gonna tell me that Ashitaka was any less heroic than San?

...FLCL was seven episodes? I thought six...*goes off to a much needed sleep*

Reasons have been stated why I like it by other members, and I'm too lazy to post the reasons over

And I wish they had more Bebop episodes of course.
But Wolf's Rain is cool, so I'm okay.
Bebop will be my fave for all time.

...well, it has Haro...
The Vision of Escaflowne: Probably the first non-Gundam and non-Pokemon anime I ever saw, I love this show for some inexplicable reason. I suppose it's because I love how they intertwined Fantasy with Sci-Fi?
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross/Robotech: The Macross Saga: Good stuff. Great stuff in fact - both the regular version of Macross and the one incorprated into Robotech are great, and the Robotech Remastered versions are excellent. Can't say I'm a fan of Mospeda, but Southern Cross is all right, though Macross will always be my favorite part.
Burn Up W/Excess/Etc. : Yes, there's glaringly blatent fanservice here, but hell, I think it's funny.
Those Who Hunt Elves: Same here.

...and before you ask, no, Transformers doesn't go here. Generation 1 was made for America and later dubbed into Japanese and thus doesn't count - besides that, of the Transformers anime I've see, two suck (Car Robots/Robots in Disguise, Micron Legend/Armada), and one's good, but not my favorite (Superlink/Energon). Transformers Cybertron is supposed to be animated by the Vandread/Hellsing guys though, so hey!

Cowboy Bebop, because that's the story of my life. Beatin' people up, going on adventures, and eating ramen all day long. Dig it.
Blood Rain: Curse of the Yoma (movie), because it's blood, guts, and ninjas killing other ninjas. HAR!
...and most of the Mobile Suit Gundam series. GO RX-178! And I mean, it's robots beating on other robots for world supremacy and political whatnots. You can't go wrong with that.

One Piece, because it's zany and cool. No dub for me though.
Shaman King, because it has humor and Emersonian undertones. Again, no dub.
Evangelion, because it has deep storyline and good action.
Gundam Seed, because it's got action and moral lessons (racism)
I'm sure there are some I'm missing... I'll add them later.

I'm a fan of Gundam, but only the Wing series. The parts of the others that I saw just seemed... lacking.

1. Pokemon ~ Unique. The story is different to all other anime no matter how bad it's considered by most. Also it was the first anime i saw.
2. Sonic X ~ Ive always liked Sonic and co, so i was an instant fan of the series.
3. Dragonball Z/GT ~ Love the characters. Can't think of much else to say about them.
Yes i know ive chosen ones which most people probably hate, but i live in the UK and decent anime is hard to find here.

I think what drew me to it most at first was I was in the middle of a Kenshin-based crisis. Everywhere I looked, people were obsessing over swords and how cool they were. It still happens, and its still pathetic, but Trigun was different. It has guns. And its not laser guns, its set like a western. Well, thats what got me intereted in the show. Then, the comedy, action, and characters just kept me into it. Its a great show.
FLCL -
Six episodes of unruly space-alien-arrives-on-earth-and-runs-boy-over-with-vespa-which-causes-robots- to-pop-out-of-said-boy's-head-only-to-be-followed-by-crazy-battles-along-with- great-music-and-a-suprisingly-deep-story GAINAX randomness.
Cowboy Bebop -
After what, five years? Its still one of the greatest. Like I said in another thread, i've yet to find anybody who doesn't like this show. Its got great characters and a great story. The animation is wonderful, and it has music by the Seatbelts.
Lupin III -
Who cares if its old? Its hilarious and just damn fun to watch.
