Stupid Zythe, learn your facts! Lana originally appeared in the comics as a chick with superpowers. Now, Chloe's obviously not based off that. Hmm, is Chloe from the comic?

She originally started off as a reporter, much like Lois Lane, who wanted to expose Superboy in the pre-Crisis comics. Later, after the comics were retooled, she became "Insect Queen" which lasted about a year before the new generation of Superman comics rewrote it for Lois and Clark, with Lana being just like Lois but a TV reporter instead of a journalist. The same with Lana in the Christopher Reeve film, Superman II, who was played by Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent in Smallville). They've rewritten the character of Lana again, to make her a descendant of and reincarnation of and host for the spirit of a 12th century witch called Isabelle Therot and also she was adopted like Clark so they can both have superpowers and a place in the mythos.
Of course, pointless because Lois and Clark end up together.
Oh yeah.
