Has anyone here been watching Full Metal Alchemist? I've been watching it faithfully since episode 2 and I think it deserves its own discussion thread.

Anyone care to discuss?

Its ok, Iv seen a couple episodes and its cool, the robot brother scares me with his hipitched voice, with that body, but yah its good.

If they ever make a good anime of zelda the person who playes the main character should voice Link.

Yeah I have been watching this for a long time. I think this is a really great series. Square Enix did a great job with this one. I hope that they continue doing anime. The last couple of episodes have been pretty interesting. With the discovery of what the Philosopher stone is made out of, this looks like it will continue to be a great series.

Yeah, I just watched last night's episode (yay tivo!), and I've got to say this show's getting pretty cool. So Al's not the only one, eh? Lots of intrigue and mysteriousness...ness.

Damn, if I had only started watching it a week earlier, I would know what the hell happened in episode one...meh, the real story didn't begin til episode three, so it probably doesn't matter.

I just put that up there for anyone who wants to watch it themselfs. Anyways in episode 1, it shows there mother getting sick and she soon dies. Ed and Al get the idea to use alchemy to bring her back to life, so they woulden't be alone. Well when they do use the transmutation circle something aweful happens. Al is sucked in and the only way to save him was for Ed to sacrifice something, that just happend to be his body parts. Well Al's soul was then put into the suit of armor. They thought they had all the ingredients right all they were missing was a human soul. When they looked at what they created it was something horrible that wasent near being there mother. A little bit later Al carried Ed over to the neighbors house, where they put on the metal stuff for his arm and leg. They paid the lady with money they had left in the house. If I remember right it was money from there father. Now with no family they burned there house down and left to see if they could some how get their bodies back to normal. That is how the quest for the Philosopher stone started.

I hope that helps.

i have all 51 episodes on my hard drive... that should tell you something =)
but yes its a very good anime. its one of my favorites next to naruto and bleach. and i woudln't really call the first and second episode a spoiler lol makes people not want to read it

the only bad thing is that its one of those anime that go along great and then he last episode its like the people making it just gave up... the ending definitly isn't the quality ending that you'd expect from sucha great anime.

overall its very good.

I thought that was Episode Three? Cause I remember that being about the second one I saw, and it definitely didn't say episode one at the beginning.

Well I am pretty sure that, that was episode 1. I may have went a little further in the description, then just episode one though. I know that some of the earlier episodes were flash backs so you should pretty much know everything from where you started at.

Which means I might never see it or may see five years after you guys. If it weren't for the DVDs coming out in the UK sometime this month (or was it last month?) I would never have heard of this series.

I take it that it's good?

It's the first anime I've seriously followed since the mid-late days of DBZ. Definitely an awesome show. You've got to watch it from the beginning to make any sense out of it, though. So definitely get those DVDs, it's a cool show.

I doubt it'll be ten years. To my knowledge, they're showing all of the series on Adult Swim. I think it's pretty much done being dubbed, I think. I could be wrong. We should get it a year or two after the movie is released.

Full Metal Alchemist is a good anime. The storyline has the potential to be rather evil and demonic, which I wouldn't like, but so far is hasn't really gone that route. In fact, one show even stated that alchemy was considered to be the Devil's magic by a race of people. So it has stayed far enough away from the "evil" plot without being too cutesy, which is a good balance.

Well, you can always get the Japanese dvds that have English subtitles. The series is very cool. I met some of the English voice actors, including Vic Mignogna (Ed). I got their autographs and pics. The movie comes out in Japan in July, so it'll be some time before we get it.

Full Metal Alchemist is one anime with much suspense, violence, and a view at life in its own fantasized way. Each character has a very individual personality, and the concept of alchemy is complicated. The outlook on betrayal, what's real, what's not, based on real life problems. Full Metal Alchemist is just another one of those things where you start thinking about life itself, and what usually draws your attention is the show's comedy. Yes, that's right. The comedy.
I have watched each episode, though I cannot remember certain ones to the fullest. Edward Elric, an advanced alchemist whom's growth has been limited due to auto-mail limbs, though he at least grows slowly. Takes life very seriously, loyal to his younger brother, hates being referred to as having a short stature.
Alphonse Elric, only a year younger than Edward, mistaken often to be older because of the metallic body his soul was attached to. Has not matured much and is still his kind, understanding but confused self. He is very loyal to his older brother, and though is an empty shell with nothing more than a soul, he still has feeling.

I'm not going to go into a further depth for the characters. Full Metal Alchemist is one anime I truly enjoy.

The movie comes out this summer, and it takes place two years after the series. I highly suggest watching the series if you want to watch the movie. The series is great. These young kids are going through so much personal crap that no one twice their age should go through, and they still deal with it as best as they can. Plus, I like the songs.

The new episode was yesterday!

I can't believe it. It was such a sudden death! And he was one of my favorite characters. Though, it does look like Mustang it coming back into the spotlight, which is good.

I was completely stunned by the climax of this episode. Geez, I'm such a dork...

Poor, poor Alicia...

Next weeks episode is the last episode being shown for a while. I honestly don't know why though. They should had stopped showing it at this episode if they were taking a break.
