I saw this on Kotaku, but was too lazy to bring it here. I figured someone would.
This is kind of an exciting development, but alas, I still don't own a 3DS. Prospects don't look rosy, either.

I never liked Beedle. All hail Rabbit-Man!

This being a sequel of sorts to ALTTP, having a shopkeeper dressed as a rabbit makes sense - after all, Link spent a bit of a time as a bunny in the original game. The rental/purchase mechanic sounds absolutely fantastic - not only does it provide a good bit of freedom and time to play with your loot, but it means Rupees are no longer useless for anything but potions by the later portions of the game.

Now all Nintendo have to do to complete the game idea I currently have in my head is to have two types of dungeons... Palaces and Ruins: the former are in use, so would therefore have still-functioning switches and "machinery"; whereas the ruins would have been abandoned long, long ago, so many of the puzzles would be altering terrain by blowing up weakened walls, knocking over pillars to make bridges etc.
From a story perspective, it's silly for items like a still-functioning hookshot or mechanisms such as switches to still be in pristine condition in what is an otherwise long abandoned temple.
Ah, so one half of the game would be Zelda and the other half Uncharted.

I don't think it's a bad thing. I quite love the Uncharted series. Taking that approach to dungeon progress with the more involved gameplay style of Zelda would be pretty neat. And yes, I do like the idea of temples not just being these old places that we just go into and deal with. I like seeing them have some kind of purpose beyond the generic 'temple to guard important treasure'. It makes the game feel more cohesive. It's why Super Mario Sunshine is my favorite of the 3D Marios.

This does look promising. We finally have another game in the series like the original.

No, but Zelda Wii U? Who knows.
But I think this might be Nintendo experimenting with a bit of nonlinearity and seeing how people react to it in a very 'safe' game. If it works out well and people respond well to it, this sort of choose-your-order idea might get used in the Wii U game.

Yes.I've just seen a large version of that picture. Is Ravio supposed to be a man in a rabbit suit?

Yes, I think he's like this guy. Somebody on the production team really likes rabbits, I guess.

Or maybe he's the Happy Mask Salesman...
Somehow came across this article whilst reading about the supposed new villain.
...Probably just a cute Easter Egg, but...this isn't the timeline where Link beat Majora, after all...

He has Ganondorf like features. The hawk-like nose, the red hair, head adornments, and greenish skin. But he lacks the bulk and power of Ganondorf, like some sort of pale imitation.

More good news:

Aunoma has admitted that hand-holding is no fun.
Posted 13 October 2013 - 05:46 PM
I don't want expectations, because they always lead to disappointment even when the product is wonderful, but...it really does look like the dev team's taken some of the recent criticisms to heart.
Posted 13 October 2013 - 06:46 PM
Maybe he finally realized that we don't need handholding because the internet is right there.
Posted 13 October 2013 - 07:06 PM
Seriously. You can even access it from the 3DS while the game is still running.
Posted 14 October 2013 - 12:14 AM
To be honest, I've never been sure if the hand holding was Aonuma's idea or something Miyamoto insisted on. The game Aonuma had the most independence to work on (Majora's Mask) wasn't too bad on that - even the fairy companion was snarky about giving help.

It's just a general Nintendo philosophy, really. The Mario games have a good balance for it, since they only offer it once they've decided you're awful. The Zelda games have had a more difficult time finding that medium.

I want a 3DS more than ever now.
I haven't really been following any news about upcoming games, but damn this makes it tempting.
