I don't remember her name but I like the pelican lady who runs the post office. And the llama lady who runs Re-Tail. Reese?
There are two pelicans who work at the post office. A really nice one named Pelly who works the day shift, and a bitchy one named Phyllis who works the overnight shift. They're sisters. And yes she is named Reese, but she is an alpaca.
This game confuses me. Where do I get a net? Do I ever get to swim? I can see shells I can't get and I want them. What do I do other than talk to people and shake trees for money? How do I get rid of my dumb bee stings? How do you get people to move out? Can I get more pockets?
You get a net, and other tools, such as the shovel and fishing rod, from the Nooklings' store, and you can get an axe and watering can at the gardening store. The goods that appear in the shop, including the tools, change each day and are random.
You can swim once you get to the island. You can only get to the island after you have talked to Tortimer about it. He just appears on your dock one day, nobody is sure exactly what triggers it, but it tends to happen after you've been playing the game for at LEAST a few days. I THINK he will only appear at your town's dock after you have completed your mayoral work (when you talk to Isabelle and she says you have a 100 percent approval rating)
Once on the island you can rent a diving suit to swim and dive for creatures there. If you want to buy a diving suit to take home you will need to win a bunch of medals from the island minigames and buy it from the gift shop. (which has revolving items each day like any other shop)
The shells, you just pick up off the ground like any other item by standing over it and pressing B.
You can get rid of bee stings by buying some medicine from the Nooklings' store and using it.
Animals moving out is random, but an animal will be more likely to move out if they dislike you. Things you can do to get an animal to dislike you are: never talking to them, never sending letters, repeatedly hitting them over the head with a net, or pushing them around a lot by walking in to them. Also, if you construct a campsite, there will be visitors who come to camp there who might want to move in, and if they decide to when your town is already full full then someone else will have to move out. Hopefully Baabara!
You can't get more pockets, but if you buy a dresser and put it in your house, you can use it to store a TON of items in. Also, you can move bells to your wallet by dragging them to your bell total on the screen, and you can combine fruit by dragging them in to each other to form fruit baskets. You can also put your things in your letters to have a little extra space in your pockets, just don't accidentally mail them!
Things you can do besides talk to people and shake trees for money:
Decorate your house.
Expand your house so you have more house to decorate.
Collect things for the museum.
Make your town pretty.
Build up your town by completing public works projects.
Design your own patterns which you can use as clothes, hang on your walls, display as paintings, lay on the ground outside, or use as carpet and wallpaper.
Send the animals letters with gifts attached and they will often send you back a letter with a gift as well.
Once you have a shovel: Bury fruit to plant lots of trees which makes the town look nice, and you can get lots of fruit that way which you can sell for bells.
Once you have a fishing rod and net: Catch fish and bugs and either sell them or donate them to the museum.
Once you have a watering can: buy flowers to make the town look nice
Once you've sold an arbitrary number of items at the recycle shop: Cyrus (the blue alpaca) will finally wake up and you can have him reupholster your furniture.
Once you have talked to Mable (the shy porcupine seamstress) for an arbitrary number of days: You can scan QR codes on the internet for really neat patterns that you can use as clothes or to make fancy brick paths in your town.
Also as you make progress in the game (weeks' and months' worth) eventually the locations on Main Street will start to open, such as the salon, shoe store, and night club.
