Yeah, I'm not against duplicates. It's only an incentive to keep checking other playlists, so really just a curtosy. If I thought a song would be great for my playlist but someone already used it, I'd post here to say I noticed but really wanted to use it as well.

Didn't stop me from reposting it.
Actually, in all honesty that was probably the one time I for some reason didn't go through everyone else's thread to make sure it wasn't already put up. I've plenty of times had someone already put up the same artist within a few days before me, but of course the time I didn't check was the one time the song was already up.

I've been meaning to collect all my songs and put them into a youtube playlist for people to just click and listen to them all at once. I'd been thinking it would be nice to do that with other people's playlists too.

Okay, I caved. Everything is spoilerrific and user-friendly.

DJ, whenever I played Red Alert, Hell March would sit on repeat because holy shit that song is badass. I forgot about it and am now adding it to my ME3MP playlist. This shall now be the N7 Destroyer's theme song.

That it is. That composer in general is good at writing songs that make you want to crush things.

I went through and tabulated which year all my choices are from. What the heck, 1991? "Nevermind" didn't even come out until September of that year. Were you even trying?

Sometimes I think about starting to post songs again. The reason I stopped was I got reminded that what I listen to is rubbish.

Less Dream Theater. More Symphony X.

What I was told was more like "less progressive, more Red Hot Chili Peppers".

Well, obviously that person is trying to lead you astray. Progressive isn't for everyone, but that's no reason to let someone else convince you that you're wrong to like it. And certainly no reason to end your thread.

Husky, I have listened to "Cockroach King" about five times now and it is glorious.

I didn't know anything about Haken before I bought their newest album. even what they sounded like. From the first listen I thought it was one of the best albums I heard (although everyone I know will say it's bad).

I listened to the full albums, and I agree that it's good stuff. Prog rock/metal is not a genre with a huge fanbase, so there's no way around your friends saying it's bad. At least you get crap for your music being weird instead of taking crap for listening to Bieber or something.
At least you're in Europe. American metal is generally terrible.

It's not that it's weird. They say it's too repetitive and dull, lacking in depth, and relies too much on 'noodling', the example they keep bringing up is Opeth's acoustic bits, and their Heritage album.

Please. That's a description of Dave Matthews Band and live jazz, not progressive.

I wish I could like Say Anything more. My favorite Max Bemis is from Razia's Shadow. I just don't dig his stuff. I gave Hebrews a listen, and his ability to get guest talent might be better than the album for me. :/

That should make it easier for myself and anybody else to listen. Especially since the embedded vids seem to not be showing up easily anymore, at least on my browser.

(Dang, these threads are loading really slowly even with all the videos in spoilers...)
I know most of us don't update our playlists very often, but I still think it would be nice to continue this subforum on New LA. Thoughts?

Going off Hana's example: Maybe instead of individual threads with embedded videos, we can all make actual public youtube playlists? And have one big directory thread for all of them? Then people can just post updates saying which song they've added, and you can watch them directly on the youtubbs instead of the forum. Would reduce loading times.

I'd be down for that.
Re: the long loading times for everyone's threads, maybe we should consider just posting URL's so each reader can load a song independently instead of having 30 embedded YT videos all appearing at once.
EDIT: Lena how did you beat me by like 5 seconds

A directory of playlists sounds good to me. They're especially nice if I want to listen to someone's jukebox in the background while I'm doing other stuff, 'cos then I don't have to remember to keep clicking the next video. XD
Whenever one of us gets around to starting the new thread, we can just keep a link list in the first post.
Edit: I have a minute now, so I'll go ahead and do it before I have time to forget. If we decide to do something else we can delete it, of course.
Edit 2: Whoa.. I made the new thread and started a list, but the bullet point was just showing as an asterisk inside brackets. I switched from preview to BBCode mode... and then I realized the BBCode on New LA is some weird hybrid of BBCode and html. Like... html but with square brackets. I haven't used that since.... early college?

I started making a playlist awhile ago but I admit, i got lazy and fell off, mostly because whenever I remembered to go finish, I ended up having to redo all the videos that got pulled in the months between updates. I'll get to it since I have been listening to music again lately, between turning the actual radio on again and re-watching all these old Gundam series for my project.
