I read somewhere that English Breakfast tea was designed with milk in mind. I put milk in my tea.

It was not pleasant.

I put a tablespoon of honey and a bit of half & half in my breakfast tea.

Just plain milk and no honey? No, sir. Needs the sweetener for full flavor effect. Milk is okay so long as it's 2% or whole. The tea by itself is also okay, but black breakfast tea wouldn't be my first choice if I'm drinking something plain.

Milk in tea is something that I will never get used to. All I ever put in my tea is sugar, and occasionally honey.

I've heard also that order is important. Tea will denature some of the milk's flavors if you add milk to the tea, so you should always add the tea to the milk...Or so I've heard. I drink my green tea plain. I also drink my coffee with a pinch of salt in it, so take my opinions with...a grain of salt.

"Tea" in the south means something completely different than in the rest of the nation. Here, it's a lot of ice, a good bit of sugar, and little bit of "tea." It never involves any milk.

It's common practice here to add milk to tea. I started putting the milk in first around five or six years ago, and just stopped using milk entirely about a year after that. No sweeteners either. :3:

There are two kinds of tea to me.

Southern sweet tea, which is clear, light, and filled with a tooth-rotting nectar flavor.

And then there's cheap, over-steeped black breakfast tea. God, that's a wakeup. Who needs coffee.

edit: Okay, those are the two teas that I drink frequently. Because Selena seems to want to maim me for pretending that I don't like others, which I do. Chai, white, jasmine, green, not Earl Grey mind you.

Green tea with a splash of skim milk for me! The milk usually is just used to cool it off though.

Honey and lemon in black tea if I'm sick!

A "good bit?!" The pitcher is 90% sugar!

I drink almost all of my teas plain, and used to drink English breakfast plain, but I just developed the habit of adding honey and milk at some point. Only drink it in the mornings if I've got time before my day starts. Alternative to coffee, since coffee is horrible and irritates my stomach.

Now, Stew and this "milk in green tea" business is a whole 'nother matter of wrong.

o.o I didn't know people didn't put milk in their tea! I always do milk and honey, or sometimes if I don't have any honey I just use sugar. Sometimes I'll leave the milk out but rarely.

I either drink tea straight or add some sugar. Honey and lemon if I'm sick, and never milk. I'll drink about any kind of tea.

My two main types are Lady Grey (which is a variant of Earl Grey), and English Breakfast, which is the Imperial Stout of teas. Lady Grey needs no sugar. English Breakfast does.

And yes, I realize that milk in tea is well-respected and established. It just didn't turn out well for me.

Yes! It's everything good about Early Grey x2. I guess Twinings has a trademark it, though, so there's only the one brand.

There is approximately nothing good about Earl Grey, so that's just multiplying zero by two. =_=

Milk (2%, whole milk, or half and half) is good in English black teas (PG Tips being my favorite of that group) and Chai, and a little sugar or honey in hot tea. I don't put milk in iced tea, and when I make a batch, I leave it unsweetened, and add agave nectar or sugar syrup to taste with each glass.

I do like some kinds of teas unsweetened; I have some blooming teas in fruit flavors that are tasty on their own, and green and oolong tea goes unsweetened when I'm having them with Chinese or Japanese food.

Oooh. Agave nectar. That sounds like something I'll have to try out, cuz' I've got a bottle for the rare occasion I mix up a margarita.

I love loose tea, and I drink it 'black'

If i do have Earl Grey, I prefer it with some honey. However, London Fog's are amazing <3

I know plenty of people who don't put milk in tea. It's the same with sugar, you just keep adding extra things until it tastes nice. I need both.

The milk first or not thing usually depends on whether you take sugar. With sugar the milk should go last else the sugar doesn't dissolve properly.

Serious business.

And Tetley FTW.

Wat. I've always put sugar in last and it dissolves fine. xD

I like to add some milk to my tea. Little cup of coffee creamer if I'm in a restaurant. I don't necessarily even need any sweetener. (Despite the fact that I am a Georgia girl, I think southern sweet tea is gross so I almost always drink unsweet, or mix just a little sweet tea in with a lot of unsweet.)
