I'm with Lesta. I've eaten cake batter my whole life, and never gotten sick (except for from too much inhalation of the sugary goodness). A Kitchenaid mixer is definitely one of the first big investments I want to partake in after the formal wedding. Dear lordy, the cheapest you can find them for is about $200, and that's not even the largest version, let alone the ridiculous professional version meant to withstand a restaurant/bakery: those things retail for as much as $420.

Free use of the KitchenAid was one of the big reasons why my dad talked me into moving back in with him...along with the awesome free meals that he makes.
I will miss that mixer when I move out. T.T

If you got salmonella poisoning, you'd have more than a tummy ache.
That cake looks great, though I'm sure we don't have any buttermilk in the house. We do have milk; I could try making my own... But we don't have a butter churn either.
What's a cup, though? How many fl. oz/litres? Or just give the weights...

Eight ounces in a cup, Showsni. Also, two cups in a pint, so four cups makes up two pints: which is a quart, or approximately a liter.
Or just use this calculator.

Even when whisking egg whites into a froth that stands up stiff and unmoving on its own? Because doing that by hand, on your own...that should be in the chef's version of a triathlon. o.oI never use a mixer! I always use a wisk!

I've never had to do that.
And you bet I'm a manly man. With my whisking skillz.
