The Dark Knight Rises

I'm intrigued by the whole thing, though I've never been into the Nolan movies as much as most people are, for a variety of reasons. So... interested, but not jizzing myself. Everything seems to point to them going in the spine-cracking direction to end the current series without question, though it's entirely possible they'll use that buildup as a red herring and then do something completely different.
Bane seems well enough, though I'm not quite feeling Anne as Catwoman yet. She good looking, of course, but I don't know if she has that dark, dangerous edge that has often defined the character. Doesn't really look like she can throw much of a punch. The Adam West-era Catwoman costume seemed a bit jarring, too, given the modern look that dominates the rest of the series. But maybe it's something that only comes together in the final cut.

Personally I'd prefer to see Nolan do his own thing. If this ends up being merely a stand-alone franchise that ends with Batman just retiring or something, that's going to suck. However if he can find a way to wrap it up and just keep the three films as their own universe in a plausible fashion, that would be incredible too. That poster sure seems telling though, how else can the Legend End except for him to be forced to retire. DJ has it, Knightfall has it. If it turns out that Bruce Wayne just decides to quit everyone will say the first and second were great but the third was a let down. I honestly can't see why else Bane would be in this movie but to allow them to continue the story into Batman Beyond. If that is the case, dibs Clint Eastwood as a pissed off Bruce Wayne crippled and yelling crap.
However, it looks like some indication is that Bane will not be as powerful physically as he was in the comics, swapping that instead for the intelligence. Ed Hardy is good to play him, I've enjoyed his body of work thus far and find him to be growing on me as an actor. Bottom line being, everything preceding this sentence is probably horseshit. Just plausible horseshit.

And about the whole Dark Knight Returns thing, TDKR is (possible spoiler discussion, but it's just speculation. On the off chance this could be a spoiler I'm putting it in tags)

I still think the No Man's Land is just the collapsing field playing tricks on my mind sicne I got that feeling too. But I doubt Gotham will have a terrible earthquake on top of all the chaos.
So what do you figure all of that "earth falling in on itself at the football game" nonsense to be?

1. Batman dies and they do a whole statue of honour thing in his name.
2. He survives and actually gets official recognition for what he's done. And then people, inspired by his actions, will start protecting themselves so Bruce Wayne can live happily ever after with Marion Cotillard or whoever he's in love with now.
Apparently, Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is now on the Internet; here's a little article talking about each one (I don't think it gives it away any spoilers).

By the sounds of it, he's been "retired" as batman for 10 years in this movie. Hopefully we see some elements of The Dark Knight Returns on the screen, because that is the greatest graphic novel ever made.

If they did the internal monologue thing from The Dark Knight Returns I see it getting old.

It certainly was very good. I don't know about best. XD

Well, yeah. That would change the style of the movies entirely. I also don't think he's going to
But maybe things like his encounters all over Gotham City when he first returns. The veteran cop telling the rookie about "the old days" while they happen on the scene where Batman is taking out a criminal. Or Bruce Wayne never getting out of the swing of things as Batman, returning to it naturally.
And it was the best. These things just aren't subjective.

The Dark Knight Returns may be the best Batman story I've read so far. But I've only started buying comics rather recently.
Even then. I can't actually say it's the best Batman story. Miller also wrote Year One, which was just superb. There's just too much Batman out there that is really good. Hush, for instance.

It is my favorite of the Nolan movies, I think. I'll have a longer review later.

Dark Knight might be my favored movie but Rises really brings everything together again in a way the Dark Knight couldn't. When the second movie came out, it was going in a completely different direction than the first movie in a lot of ways. Nolan used the third movie to sorta bring the story back to where it was going in the first one, which was good because it strengthened the trilogy as a whole. Although it makes the Dark Knight stand out as a black sheep in my opinion and makes it stand out in a way that might not always be good. I could go on about these kinds of things but I feel I've made this post long enough.
tl;dr
Movie was good. Go see it.

Damn. Loved it absolutely and a completely and utterly fitting end to this version of Batman. I'll be the first to point out that I still vehemently disagree with all the people saying this is the definitive Batman, but that doesn't take away from how amazing it's been. I'll type more later since I just got back from the showing and haven't slept in three days with all the moving madness plus work, but suffice to say, excellent.
