Why don't we turn the Showcase forum into a more general art type forum? It'd still be used for members to come show off, but it could also be used to post threads about art in general too. Threads like this and this could be posted there. I figured it couldn't hurt to change it and maybe it could bring in more traffic?

I've had stuff I've thought about throwing on here but I wasn't sure how much interest there would be... Would anybody besides me be interested in talking about art type stuff more? I know people like Csts, Fizz, maybe Emi would, but how about anybody else?

I think it makes more sense to have it in the humanities forum, but I'm not emotionally invested enough in this preference that it will bother me greatly if everyone else wants to change it. XD

I'm liking the idea, we could even use it to talk about literature and books and stuff. Nobody really talks about that in media. I mean , the tricks of our various trades, whether that be writing, art or anything related to that stuff.

Isn't that kind of what humanities is for, though? Humanities; The Arts.

Showcase was designed to be as the name suggests: A place for our members to showcase their own work. It just doesn't get used too often because people are shy about showing off their stuff to the public (or at least the LA public).

Art as a subject does fall under the Humanities and putting it there would make the most logical sense, however, I'm also not too opposed to expanding Showcase into a general art forum. But yes, it technically falls under Humanities.

Discussion on contemporary books would go in Media, as we've always discussed literature there. Just not as frequently as movies. Discussion on writing technique, I suppose, could go in a revamped Showcase.

Does it really need a proper revamp though? Really only the forum decription needs changing slightly, if that.

I'm for leaving literature generally in the Humanities forum, but sure, art talk can have its place.


And keep in mind that the Showcase forum IS for more than just still visual art - you could also post your personally created music, stories, film, yada yada. Just calling it "Art" would seem misleading to me. At least do something to retain its Journalism side.

I think Media and Humanities are still proper forums to discuss art. Even though both could have their names adjusted a little as they're both a little too generalized.

Showcase is more for user-generated art. It would make more sense if we had a forum just for showing off our own stuff. Unless we were discussing what art inspire us.
