I've decided to put the new e3 info about SS here. First up: I took a shot from the trailer that I found on the ZI homepage.

Attached File  SS.JPG   40.53K   35 downloads

I know some of you might have info on the next Zelda already, but I'm putting it here anyway so we can update this thread with whatever info we get throughout the year. I think we can safely assume from the trailer who is going to be a villain, probably the main villain, in this game.

I think the biggest news it that Link actually looks like he's wearing pants, rather than just tights.

I don't understand how you can tell who the villain was from the trailer.

Also, I'm not sure I like these graphics. It seems rather jarring having things half-half. I'd much rather fully one way or the other. Then again, I might not be playing this recent instalment of Zelda as I don't have a Wii and don't plan to get one anytime soon.

I'm happy with it. The graphics are a nice blend between TP and WW; looks nice! I'll be interested in finding out what the premise is, but hey, its nice to see a Zelda game worth getting a little excited over for a change!

I like it too. I've been waiting for them to marry the too looks ever since TP came out. Though having seen what it looks it does seem a bit awkward looking. The toon look makes sense with young Link because we're suppose to be seeing things through the eyes of a 12 year old. As an adult Link it just makes seem gay...(and I can say that since I am gay, no one else XP). I mean look at him. He looks so pretty! LOL What's worse is taht this is suppose to be the oldest Link has been, older than TP Link. Maybe it was more a young teenage Link like 14 or 13, it'd be more believable. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving this ! There's only two things I truly hate, the title logo (it just seems to blah). And the HUD. Having a huge transparent wii remote on the screen is way too distracting and takes away from the fantasy feel of the game. What I'm really hyped about is the possibility of getting to explore Hyrule in complete cell-shaded goodness. Something I've been really dying to see ever since they gave us a taste of it in TWW. That would more than make up for Link's pretty pretty PRETTY boy looks.

Pretty. Haha.

Overall, I feel pretty mixed about this. One things for sure, I'm totally surprised. Also, no one's mentioned that Link has the Master Sword in the screen shots. I thought this games was supposed to Master Sword-less till towards the end. Or was that one of the false rumors?

Edit: Elvenlord, Link wears pants in TP. The same exact ones too if I'm not mistaken.

Well, in their defense, the TP pants looked more like khakis than anything else, but yes. OoT didn't just LOOK like tights, they WERE tights. And let's face it. You gotta be a MAN to wear tights. [/robin hood men in tights]

I was hoping all along that they'd finally make a compromise between all the hoopla over the graphics. The cell-shaded style became popular in Japan but received much back lash out west. If the stupid, spoiled western kids hadn't have put such a backlash over the graphics; the game would be consistent and would've gone in a good direction. When they went to appease the western fans but that gained backlash back home with the fans of the cel-shaded style.

So I'm really happy that they made a compromise between all the senseless bickering that was started by the arrogant western fans. I hope this will settle things once and for all so the stupid western fans can't complain.

^ You don't know western fans very well, do you? That's all they do. Complain. I'm a little alarmed by the look of the Zelda, but I know that it's what I wanted. I remember saying, out loud, "The next Zelda game should feature graphics that are a nice mid-way point between Twilight Princess and Wind Waker." But even I have a nagging feeling that this looks unrefined, you know? But it's going to improve greatly before its released, so I'm not worried. Eventually... I won't even notice the graphics at all. I don't with Wind Waker anymore. But I think it looks great for Zelda--it'll be able to pull emotional tricks from both games. You know Wind Waker had some touching scenes. I thought so, anyway.

But this is going to be good, especially now that they're...

Spoiler

.....

I'm really looking forward to knowing more about the story, though.

I hate this graphical style. This is probably the worst graphical shift they've ever done for this series. I was entirely underwhelmed by this game's performance. Especially considering the quote we had been getting from Nintendo, quotes like "this will be the darkest Zelda to date, featuring the oldest Link in any Zelda game."

and what the hell happened to this?

Posted Image

Bunch of bullcrap. They promise an art style like that, probably the best looking Zelda art we've ever gotten, and instead we get pastel colors and mushrooms. May as well have been a Mario game. ¬_¬

The only redeeming quality about this is the name and the beam sword.

Seriously, how did they go from that Official Art to what we saw today? Was that just a joke? Some prank to lure us in? ugggggggggh.

Looks pretty good to me. The controls are allegedly very good when not done on stage with Miyamoto behind the wheel, the dungeon we saw looked pretty awesome and seemed to blend the overworld with dungeon-crawling as some predicted, and the art style didn't take long to get used to. I think they do need to refine the graphics a bit, as Link's model does look a little off such as when it comes to the chain mail and stuff, but overall I'm optimistic about the game, especially after watching the "Iwata Asks" with Miyamoto and Aonuma. They seem to put a lot of thought into all this. Hopefully we'll get more info on this game and confirmation on the alleged 3DS OoT(God I hope that's not just a tech demo) before the week is out.

You don't know western fans very well, do you?

Heh. Surprisingly, I know them quite well. In fact; I'm surrounded by the most western Zelda fans around, Amerikkkan Zelda fans, daily. Its kind of annoying. I have debates with them all the teim but they're just too ignorant to care for my side of it all {Hey, it Amerikkka, so go figure. d:}.

I know that it's what I wanted.

Yeah, as I said; I wanted that as well. Ever since the release of Twilight Princess.

what the hell happened to this?
...

Nothing. Its still the same. Its just that its a painting of what's in the game. You can't cee it?

I love how you took my quote out of context to support your claims.

I used your quote as an example of what I disagree with.
Granted, the middle quote is one I agree with. However, the first and last are ones I disagree with.

It's still disrespectful to misrepresent someone when quoting them. Either explain the context of their true opinions or do not quote them at all. Since you're new I'll drop it but don't do it again. Especially not when news like this is coming in and everyone's all riled up. That's practically borders on trolling.

Oh, yeah, welcome to the boards. Sorry if I come off as an asshole. I'm just stoked because of the new Zelda game. :)

I'm not as new as you think.

I was a member of this site long ago before I got locked out after it was so long I'd been here I forgot my password. I've been on Zelda Universe the whole teim anyway. However, today their server crashed or something &I can't go there so I made a new profile and started coming here again.

For now, anyway. At least until I can return there again.

This is the kind of narcissistic attitude that caused my declining interest to keep coming back to this site. :/

Narcissistic attitude? All I meant was that I shouldn't have been quick to jump on you if you were new to the community (if I was my first post at a forum and didn't know anyone and someone jumped on me like that I'd feel unwelcomed and not want to return) but for someone who claims to have been here long before you should know that it disrespectul to misquote people.

A mod on this site once told me that people have the right to say what they say to people no matter if it offends them. He also told me something like: 'This is the internet, shit happens.' {I'm paraphrasing}

but I cee your point und I will try it again regarding what you'd initially said:

A lot of western fans make this argument regarding the cell-shading. Although not a lot of them like it so I'll give you that.

Again, I feel that it is good that they combined the cell-shading und the graphic style the western fans want.

I don't cee how all games have to be absolutely testosterone-filled style where the main character must look manly as western society and its propaganda dictates. I like the cel-shaded version more than what the western fans want. It was going in a good direction until the western fans ruined it. Although I couldn't have expected any less from western people. d:

Btw, I'm ecstatic that they brought the sword beam back.

Also, its the only sword beam in a 3-D Zelda game besides Majora's Mask.

I would sure hope so.

Zelda Universe is not like that so obviously he was wrong about the internet being like that.

To westerners, bright colors and happyfuntime are obnoxious.

'Westerners', as you call them, are also unhappy people; in general but not all of them; und driven by fear by their religion.

I am a western fan, myself, but I do not associate myself with the rest of the flock.

&its not my fault they are such unhappy people und can't appreciate anything, much less "bright and happy" things.

it could look like the Wind Waker

If only. That was the future of The Legend of Zelda before the western fans threw a tantrum about it.

It's not about posting something offensive. You can post whatever opinions you want as far as I'm concerned. This is one of the few forums people can openly drop F bombs without everyone is getting all bent out of shape over it. I'm talking about being fair. When you quote anyone, whether on a forum, in a thesis paper for class, in a new article, whatever to give credibility to your own stance, it's irresponsible to twist their words to make it seem like they're saying something they're not. You have every right to your own opinion. You don't have a right to someone else's opinion. Our words are just there just as blurbs for you to mix and remix at your disgresion. You wouldn't want your posts to be butchered and taken out of context to make it seem like you were prejudice against Americans would you? You can keep your opinions and I'll defend your right to have them, so long as you leave mine alone. Sound fair?

Wait a minute! Picman, weren't you banned?

You know, being a worldwide franchise/product, western fans also have a say in what they want. They should not be made to buy something if they are not satisfied. Without the western fans, the game would not be so successful (seeing as "western fans" also includes THE ENIRE WORLD outside of "The East"), nor would there be a need to export it out of Japan.

Game developers develop games for the fans, both Japanese, pretend-Japanese, and non-Japanese. "Tantrums" (or "critical feedback", as is the technical term) is their way of knowing what the fans do not like. Praise lets them know how what the fans do like. Obviously the Japanese threw tantrums about the style of Twilight Princess and so the developers are finding a compromise. Like I said, it's a worldwide product, and the developers could very well tell all countries outside Japan to get f'd in the a, but that's just plain stupid.

Actually, most of the Western angst probably stems from old German, Scandinavian, Celtic, and Russian stories rather than modern religion. It was all about tragedy, repressed passion, and honorable death! It's not an unhappiness. It's about revealing your most desperate emotions at the height of trouble and pushing yourself to the limit. Drama! Danger!

Either that, or lack of Vitamin D in the winter months.

Either way, the cute Wind Waker-y stuff won't work here.

As much as I loved the art style for TP, I don't think this one is too bad. It's actually kinda nice. Link's not a midget with an oversized head, so that's always a good thing. I have high hopes for the game, so I really hope it doesn't disappoint.

this better not turn into another anti-American thread.

If you don't want it to turn into that, then swallow your Amerikkkan pride. Its not that hard.

I find it to be a rather nice balance between the cell-shaded graphics and the Twilight Princess style.

I'm sure they will make it even better as they finish the final touches. :victory:
