I was wondering how long it would be until someone made a thread for this.

As tsume already knows, I got HeartGold.

Ha, finally, just beaten Blue. That was a long gaming period...

No, I mean, it's not out here yet. :(

Then again, I've already played through Gold and Crystal. Is it worth playing through again? Convince me why I should buy it.

I'm playing through Red right now, hahaha. That's pretty funny.

I'm curious, what was your team? I find Gyrados and Nidoking are available early on and get good enough move sets to mess up anything you find. That and Char with Snorlax.

Got Heart Gold yesterday and beat Bugsy, just about to look for that lost Farfetch'd. If not for FFXIII occupying my time I'd probably be further.

Still, it's a nostalgia trip, and while the changes are slight, they're very nice touches. Pokewalker's kinda cool too. Totally forgot how easy it is to massacre everyone with just your starter due to the low levels to make up for Kanto though - had to stop and specifically train a couple of the basic Pokemon so I wouldn't fall into the trap of having a high level Feraligatr and crappy everyone else.

Yeah thats one plus to having 2 best friends who bought the games also and we restart and traded so we all had all 3 starters. Its nice. :P

I have obtained SoulSilver... and thus begins the arduous task of trading in everyone I want from my Pearl cart xD

To answer your question, tsume, I got Heart Gold.

I'm purposely not trading over much from my Diamond version. Diamond's still gonna be my main game. If anything, I'll probably trade over my HG team after I beat the Elite Four to properly lay out their EV's.

SoulSilver. I got through the first boss, past the Unown cave, aaaand...accidentally turned my game off. XD So I've rebeat that and played a little with my Pokewalker. Random Spearow decided to join my Pokewalker. Enjoying the cute little dowsing and battle system in it. Need to see if my GameStop still has the Jirachi giveaway, which is supposed to be gone now but still remained at least on Sunday. ;)

I have played through gold, Cristal several times, and I played until HG crashed on the docks with the fishermen next to the slowpoke tail seller.

So are all the underlevelled wild pokemon in this game making it a pain to level up? So say the folks on the gamefaqs board.

I havent really noticed that Vet. It seems like the originals, and they were harder than following Gens to level.

Well, it's not that much harder to level up, but then again I'm a grind addict so it probably doesn't bother me. I am falling into the trap of how my Feraligatr is currently at Level 32, but the rest of the team is at 14 - 23, however, so I gotta work on that.

If God had intended people to grind repetitively in wild pokemon battles, he wouldn't have invented the Pokewalker!

Get some exercise, people!

My roommate and I are trying to keep pace with each other. She's on HeartGold and I'm on SoulSilver (though she has another copy of SS so we can trade starters at some point).

I had gotten the shiny Pichu at Gamestop back in February, so I picked up the Spiky-Eared Pichu at Ilex Forest. They're both at level 30 but my party's still in the early 20's so I'm leaving them in the box for now. I also traded over the Sinnoh starters and a Riolu (which reminds me, if anyone wants some I've still got a bunch lying around from breeding). Those are staying in the box too for the moment. I want to play through the old nostaligic way first.

I'm trying to use Pokémon that I haven't used before - so I actually trained up a Rattata into Raticate. At some point I'm going to have to swap out because I have too many of a similar type...Falkner and Whitney's gyms were a frustrating massacre for me. That Miltank... grr*

Except you're capped at one level per stroll. So unless I bring the DS with me to start new walks that doesn't work too well.

Does the walker screw with the EV values like EXP Share?

It gives no EV's at all. So walk carefully - I think it does raise happiness even with the level cap, so potentially you could just leave Zubat in there and he'll love you, and you're still free to use the other however many levels you have before 22 to train.

Unless I'm wrong, in which case it's really only good to get rare items and Pokemon. And hey, exercise - given how I've walked an average of 20,000 steps a day at work this week, I'm curious to see how many I'll take at the gym. Will report back in a few hours...

Pokemon will always gain in happiness when walking with the pokewalker even after it gains the one level. Very easy to get an Espeon/Umbreon/Crobat/Togetic early.

But the EXP Share does give EVs. It gives the same EVs as if the pokemon with EXP Share had fought the battle itself.

Doesn't matter what the commercial says, I've only ever leveled once with my Pokewalker at a time. You can put the Pokemon back INTO the Pokewalker again and again to level them, but you want your important Pokemon to level in-game to raise their stats and attacks properly.
