What happened to the Gerudo in TP?

Well that's kind of my point! Giant cannon is a convenient way to bypass an inconveniently inhospitable part of the desert, no? :)

(Of course, this is assuming that Gerudo Desert isn't merely the Hylian designation for the area!)

Well, the reason we used the Cannon was because the road to the desert had become impassable. I assume they were talking about the Gerudo Valley.
However, the name Gerudo Desert being a Hylian designation isn't that bad of an idea actually. I mean, it never had that name when the Gerudo was actually living there. ( OoT, FSA )

Timeline threads just involve looking at the stories of the games and seeing if one connects to the other. You made some gigantic, scientific analysis with next to no evidence, and while the Zelda series has gravity and fire burning wood, it is not known for its adherence to science.

Fish suddenly turning into birds comes to mind. I've seen people try to explain how that would be possible using Darwinian evolution, but the most obvious answer is "It's Magic!"
