But there were seriously Link/Impa shippers? The same Impa who is a wrinkly old lady in every other game. Next you'll be telling me that there's Link/Telma shippers. Now I know why I never got into shipping. I valued my sanity too much.

Some guys have all the luck. Link is just insanely attractive, I guess.
Welcome to a section with no practical purpose whatsoever, a list of all the
girls who have had a crush on Link, or been in love with him.
-Zelda
-Medli
-Ruto
-Nabooru
-Deku Princess (Majora's Mask)
-Mrs Marie (The Wind Waker)
-Clock Town's Treasure Chest Game front desk girl (Majora's Mask)
-The Maku Tree (Oracle of Ages)
-Lulu (Majora's Mask)
-Saria (Ocarina of Time)
-Malon (Ocarina of Time)
-Navi (Ocarina of Time)
-Ilia (Twilight Princess)
-Midna (Twilight Princess)
-Rosa (Oracle of Seasons)
And that's if we preclude the ones who MIGHT like him that way. And even if
we do that, the list is still incomplete! Life's not fair.
I personally prefer to think of this as the "list of girls who have ever spoken to Link".

Speaking of shippers, this list was at the bottom of one guy's FAQ.

I think the reason why Link hasn't been given a canon love interest since Zelda II is because Nintendo is afraid of ticking these kind of people off. Seriously, Mrs. Marie? Lulu? Freaking Deku Princess??

Telma thinks Link is fine for sure, but I think she just flirts with him because she likes to see him sweat. She actually likes Renado.I was disappointed when TP came out and he didn't add Telma to the list BECAUSE ZOMG SHE WINKS AT HIM AND STUFF!!1!
Link does have a lot of fangirls. Because he's the hero. It's easy to tell which girls like Link; the difficult thing is to determine who Link likes, since he doesn't like... talk.

Anyhow, what about the URA Zelda expansion for OOT? All that stuff about being able to unfreeze Zora's Domain, and people trying to hack into what they believed would become loading areas for the expansion?

I was never a shipper, I guess shipping and timeline fandoms were kind of separate. So I guess I missed out on that. I do remember Zelda Universe doing a series of articles on the subject back in 2002-2003, though.
But there were seriously Link/Impa shippers? The same Impa who is a wrinkly old lady in every other game. Next you'll be telling me that there's Link/Telma shippers. Now I know why I never got into shipping. I valued my sanity too much.
There's a shipper for everything. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING, is off limits. I maen people are alraedy LinkxSword and LinkxTrain shipping. Srsly!
Also, Telma's a bartender. Bartenders flirt with everyone. Link is just a nice piece of man-meat that's all.

I was briefly impressed someone had taken the trouble to compile that, until reading it more closely that is. What nonsense from whoever-the-hell was the author of that mess! Half of those don't even count as proper relationships.
Zelda II's princess without a shadow of a doubt, but no game title in closed brackets suggests all the Zeldas that ever were felt passionate about the elf, and that's bollocks as far as Twilight Princess is concerned. Zelda's personality there is on par with the Borg Queen.-Zelda
I'm not sure whether to let this one slide or not, I've played that game twice and didn't register any heart-felt feelings between the two, Medli being concerned for his safety isn't quite strong affection. Anyone is capable of showing empathy.-Medli
No.-Deku Princess (Majora's Mask)
NO.-Mrs Marie (The Wind Waker)
Not quite. Wear any transformation mask and she's as infatuated as ever.-Clock Town's Treasure Chest Game front desk girl (Majora's Mask)
Okay I'm starting to think this list is the work of GameSpot. SHE'S IN LOVE WITH MIKAU, NOT LINK.-Lulu (Majora's Mask)
As a friend.-Saria (Ocarina of Time)
See above.-Malon (Ocarina of Time)
Hey! You're not listening! >:3-Navi (Ocarina of Time)
Nope.-Ilia (Twilight Princess)
Who?-Rosa (Oracle of Seasons)
The rest are sound, whoever listed the above as confirmed love-interests should replay the bloody games before spreading more unwanted and unneeded shit on the Net.

Well shipping is nonsense. And that's coming from someone who was a staunch ranchshipper back in the early 2000's. It's not based off logic, like say Kirck/Spock slash is.

That leaves only Ruto and Nabooru!
And I take exception to Ilia. The scene where Link rescues Ilia does have have some sexual tension at least. And taht's saying a lot sense a majority of the seeries virtually lacks any of it, aside from Link getting his "hearts filed" by street prostitutes in AoL.

Seriously, these people need to get a life.
Concerning the topic:
I joined up with the Zelda community circa 2005, all I remember was a bunch of arguments whether OoT was the Imprisoning War.

Zelda shipping is just the tip of the iceberg. Pokemon shipping is a rampant, repulsive plague.
As far as "big moments" go in the fandom, Hylian Dan's Stone Tower bullshit might qualify, but that was really just a fan's rambles that gullible people thought was some super-secret all-revealing theory.

People blindly latched on to it, but Hylian Dan made the "theory".

Yes. Shippers don't care, and in Pokemon shipping every minor, forgettable character has a ship of their own. The shippers even go so far as to frequently make homosexual ships between two people who are not only heterosexual in the canon, but also hate the hell out of each other. Shipping between humans and Pokemon is also disturbingly popular.

Thanks for posting that. As you can see, Pokemon shipping is utterly ridiculous. Zelda shipping isn't nearly as bad, though that doesn't mean it's likable.

That's because Foe-Yay is sexah. It's all about that kinky hatesex. It's even more bizarre when it's mostly fangirls pairing two male characters.
Personally I like Foe-Yay but only when it's at least remotely canon like Dr. Venture and the Monarch, though that one's more one-sided.
Speaking of homosexuality, I think I'd be as bold as to suggest that Zelda is in fact a lesbian. The way she doesn't throw herself on Link like other girls do, even when he saves her life, and the way they're relationship has always been platonic, if even that, I'm going to conclude that she has no interest in boy's whatsoever. Doesn't mean she likes girls but... I will always interpret Midna's comment as about their "hearts being one briefly" as some sort of homosexual subtext. Midna and Zelda make a way better couple than Link does with either of them anyways.

I support that shipping, only because it's completely nonsensical and makes a mockery out of shipping. It'd probably be a bit painful, though.

I always read that into the scene too. <.<
Actually, there's gay subtext everywhere in TP. Ganon's inside Zant, Zant's inside Ganon, Link sticks his weapon in Ganon...
Well, I guess there was that one scene where Ganon got inside Zelda, but that's pretty much the only exception.

Is that why he left the Gerudo? Sick of only having access to women?
Too much estrogen. He needed an outlet for his bicurious tendencies.
