You know I've tried and tried, but I've never been able to really play properly holding my stick as you are in your left hand.

You play too? Cool. Yeah, it's one of those things that I wanted to get down. It gives a different touch when you play traditional. I usually use trad for jazz, and matched grip for RnB & hiphop. But I'll change it up as I feel. I'm still not as facilitated in traditonal as I am in matched yet.

I always thought traditional style looked better, but I learned in my percussion methods class this past semester that it can cause your stroke pressure to be uneven if you're playing on a drum that's parallel to the ground.

Not many of us play with a straight flat-top snare anyway, so it's not that much of a bother XP

My snare is parallel to the ground. There's [img]http://forums.legendsalliance.com/public/ALOT.png[/img] of drummers who slant their snare, but it's not a good idea. If the snare is at the right height, it won't affect your stroke. It should be pretty much flat to employ good technique.

I always have it slanted a little towards me. To put it flat I need to lower it, and it just feels too low.
