I don't think they look bad... just a little too touched up. That's probably because I'm big into using all kinds of fun photoshop stuff.

It's his particular style, though, guys. Some might not like it, and others will. That's art for you.

I personally thought it was interesting.

At first I didn't like it (because it seemed to rob the "naturalness") but then it grew on me; I realized that he wanted to make it look more like a drawing and less like a photograph-- kind of like a painting. He's designing and editing and trying things outside of the box, that's why he casted me as his model for this "experiment", if you will.

And he's aware that certain things aren't working, but he also made mention that people are going to be very critical about anything they personally consider, "different" or "ugly", which makes sense when you're attempting something new or non-generic.

Is it bad because it's not what you would have done?

Then again I'm a middle man.

Well....since you asked.

I'm no expert on photography, so any observations I make are coming from a painting/drawing background.

Let's put 'em side by side (or...top to bottom. stupid LA):

Posted ImagePosted Image

I agree that the editing robs it of its "naturalness". Your skin is light enough on its own - it doesn't need to be even brighter.

Almost everything in the edited photo is blurred out to some degree. It makes it look really amateur.

The blue on your panties was fine before and went with all the other colors in the photo a lot better. In the edited one they're way, way too bright/saturated and it draws the eye directly there without any similar colors in the rest of the picture to draw your eye around the composition. It's extremely distracting.
Your hair color borders on doing this too, but it's fine because it's similar enough to your skin to not be very distracting.

SPEAKING OF DISTRACTIONS....that door. Ugh. I'm sorry, but the glowing effect the photographer put on the door is awful. It has the same problem of being too distracting and unnecessary. There may as well be lens flares.

Also, I'm not really sure why he took out the bracket things (idk what they're called) on the walls? The whole entire top right corner of the photo looks really empty now.

About people not liking it because it's "different" - this actually is not that new or non-generic. Blurring things out, upping the brightness, and putting in glowy shit is kind of cliche at this point, imo.

And on a final note:

It's his particular style, though, guys. Some might not like it, and others will. That's art for you.

The "but it's my styyyyyyyle!" excuse is an exceptionally poor defense for critique. It's the exact same approach 13-year-olds on Deviantart will use when they're getting critiques they don't agree with or aren't ready for.

Well, it's not like the photographer's methods have anything to do with Dizzy's mod'lins or nuthin'. You and the stuffed dog did just fine regardless.

I find admiring a photoshopped photo much akin to cheering for an athlete on steriods. Sure it might be impressive, but its cheating. If he wanted the light effect from the door he should have lit the shot better.

I actually agree with The Dude ENTIRELY. It takes skill to capture actually breathtaking images. Any 13 year old can apply twenty million filters and call it art.

That's the kick, here... Critiquing the photo and the experimenting editor is fine... But how will that help me modeling?

If it was my work, I'd like to hear critiquing and I'd want it to be very harsh. Otherwise, since this isn't my work, and since the critiquing is not about my posing or what I could do as a model, the critiquing is pretty much a waste of my time. :/

Thanks anyway, though... I suppose... :S

That's the thing about posting a picture, though. People are going to comment on it with whatever stands out to them. Just take it as a positive that everyone thought your modelling was good! We all liked the raw pictures of just yourself the best. ;)

But you're right, wisp. They are well versed in art, and they do have very valuable input.

Plus its something everyone can discuss. Lots of la knows about art. Few know about modelling. I actually find it really interesting what the artists of la are saying about the photo.

Yes its not about you but you could also learn about what kind of photographer you want to work with so with an open mind I think you could benefit too.

We're wasting your time? Fuck you.

You didn't ask for modeling feedback! This is a "post pictures of yourself" thread, and you posted two, one without digital editing, and one with. What did you think we were going to talk about? God, that is the shittiest thing I've read all day.

Uhh.... calm down, please. No need for tempers to flare anywhere in here.

It's pretty obvious that Diz isn't too comfortable with the comments about her photographer, and everyone's sort of ganging up on the editing jobs, so it's probably better to ease up and drop the issue? Seems to be generating unnecessary hostility.

Diz, I've been meaning to say something about your modeling, but I kept forgetting.
Now, all I know about modeling is what I see on America's Next Top Model and in magazines and such, but I think your pictures are always awesome and I always look forward to looking at them. :3:

But I saw one of the pictures (not one that you posted here, but on Facebook) and it's one where you're holding a bar. I think the picture is good, but your legs look really short due to the slippers/boots. Maybe standing on your tippy toes and extending your leg would make your legs look longer and would add that little something extra next time.

And with this particular shoot, a lot of the pictures had the same facial expression. Maybe you can try and change your face just a little bit to make each picture different (aside from the posing, of course).

And work those gorgeous eyes of yours, eyes can really make a difference in modeling pictures. I think you have been doing a good job with that for the most part, but that's just me. :3:

I don't know if my comments really mean anything, since I know nothing about modeling, but I tried. :P
I think your pictures are awesome though. Yay Dizzy. C:

I do know that one day I do wanna have a photo shoot with awesome outfits and hair and makeup, just for funsies. ;d

Thank you to the people who had constructive criticism to how I could improve, and thank you to those who did have fair input on the photographer.

I'm not going to post any pictures anymore, not because of the input, but because of the obviously foul attitudes, and because of the blatantly negative conduct from select posters on this thread.
