Aww. Thanks! I don't smile all that often, but when I was laughing in that one, I decided to take a pic to see just what it looked like.



And Elven, the gear looks awesome. I love the luster of the helmet and the torso armor in particular, the chain-mail is very good! I hope it's not heavy. If only there were some kind of red-dyed leather kilt you were wearing. Or some kind of leather garment instead of shorts.

Well, if you're demanding... the legs look weird. XD there's nothing between that chain mail dress and the sandals. Didn't Romans have SOMETHING in the way of leg protection?

Also, Roman armor and ring mail don't look like they're meant to be worn together. XD

Yes and no. There certainly WAS, but definitely not worn by all. Pretty much on a get-them-if-you-can basis, with cavalry and officers almost certainly having them, with front rank infantry next behind. That being said, I do plan on getting some. Hopefully for next year, if not the year after.

It is somewhat heavy, it adds up to about 50lbs. The lorica segmentata is about 20lbs, chain mail 25lbs, then the helmet is around 5lbs and the sword a little bit less than that. SO WORTH IT. So many people wanted to take pictures with me, including two little boys who were literally jumping up and down begging for a picture. It was adorable

This is a painful smile. I weirds me out when people smile like this. I dunno.


This is a "LOOK AT ALL MY TEETH!" smile. Don't ever do this, unless it's a silly picture. It's just looks creepy and makes you look like a serial killer.


Similar to the last one, except this one makes you look like a psycho. A scary one.


This is a closed smile that's waaay too forced. If you're gonna force it that much, you might as well open your mouth and show your teeth. Just sayin'.

Just relax your face, but use your whole face to smile. You can't smile and not use your eyes, it looks really bad and fake.

A small smile is simple, like so. I'm not good at it, though. Which is why I usually has open smile.


This is an open smile, not too big, not too small, and you have to make sure you use your eyes too!

Think of a funny joke, or something that always makes you happy. That can work too.

I think I'm most guilty of the closed smile the most, and I have done lots of those in pictures I didn't want (which is most of them). Nice post Kissena, gave me a good laugh for sure!

Shouldn't you look into getting two javelins before all that lot? (Pila, to be precise.)

Smiling is hard. I don't see the point in forcing it if you don't feel like smiling.

Carrying both would be a pain, accuracy be damned
One is an option, but is pretty expensive (says the one who dropped hundreds already ), and would honestly would probably get in the way. Historical accuracy is all well and good, but trying to walk though the fair crowds and shops would not be fun. Oh god the shops. Some of those have extremely low ceilings. Like I'm already afraid my plume is going to hit the ceiling, and I'm short as hell

TL;DR, maybe one in future, but not two.
