It had been a long couple days for the dark haired female ninja, she had endured a grueling first introduction from her instructor and had taken the whole day after just to regain her abilities. The bruises, scraps, and cuts had been the least of Rin's real worries, the mental pain she endured from that little game had been enough to send the ninja into her room to sulk. Up until the "mission" Rin had considered herself to be the absolute best in her class, she scored the highest in the exams and had even managed to be #1 in most of the exercises, but here she was learning that in comparison to her young leader she just a tiny ant that he could just brush away. Now here she was being forced to embrace her weakness and hope to maybe grow strong enough to live up to the name #1 in the class.
She dressed quickly in a purple tank top and a black pair of capris, her Iwagakure headband she tight tightly around her upper arm and headed out the door in hopes of find some more delicious breakfast then the nasty rice and cooked fish that her mom was cooking. She jutted down the street until she came across a small cafe where she ordered herself a cup of green tea and picked at a cup of fresh fruit and a biscuit. Today was the first day since her grueling first day that she would have to meet up with her team, and needless to say the young Uchiha girl was not looking forward to it.

OOC: I played your character a bit Jaina, hope you don't mind horribly, but 't seemed necessary to keep the flow going for the post. Let me know if you want me to change it and I will.

IC: Rin had been noticing for some time that man Jin's attention on her. She was used to the occasional eyes in town watching her closely ever since her Mom announced that she was an illegitimate child with the famous Uchiha Sasuke, but this man..well he didn't appear to be some local resident from Iwagakure. Rin finally caught his eye for a second and noticed him motioning over, usually Rin's common sense would have told her this was a bad idea, but the large amount of foreigners that recently entered her village piped up her curiosity a little. She picked up her small cup of fruit and sat herself down across the man and dipped a finger into the small cup and crunched on a grape.
"Umm..Hello." The young girl said her eyes keeping a firm lock on his face to note any changes to his expression that may reveal his intentions towards her.
"Can I help you with anything?" She added wondering why this guy had so much curiosity about her. There was no way that he could recognize her as an Uchiha unless he knew about her from word of mouth from the Village. She was unaware of the fact that she did look a lot like her father and if she was ever to encounter a friend or enemy of Sasuke's most likely it wouldn't be to hard for them to see some sort of family resembles with him.

"I observed you . . . and your teammates during your graduation exam a couple days ago. It was . . . interesting. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jin, a Konoha Jonin sent on this mission in an . . . advisory capacity." Few of the Konoha ninja had actually been aware of his presence in the party sent to the Earth village. Jin had traveled in the rear party along with most of the strongest Jonin on the trip. Shikamaru was obviously still afraid of a betrayal. Needless, but understandable. He looked at the girl again and extended his hand. "Pleased to meet you, Miss Uchiha, was it not?"

"Umm..yes." She said attempting to control her emotions. Part of her wanted to blush red at this, she had been using her heritage earlier as a tactic against the Hyuuga leader but she hadn't expected to be somewhat "called out" on it.
"I guess interesting is a good word for it, I call it more of cat and mouse game, being as though my team mates and I didn't exactly stand a chance of winning against a bloodline jonin from your village." She stated as she pushed away the cup of fruit.
"Now if you came to tell me I did well in that fight then I am going to know you are just pushing my buttons, I got my ass kicked." She said as she rested her elbows on the wooden table the two of them were sitting at.

"...tangling escaped chickens?" She said with obvious annoyance. She pulled herself out of her chair in a huff ready to leave. The girl had really heard just about enough, if she hadn't already been let down at her complete failure against the Hyuuga, here was this man saying that all her last three years had taught her nothing more then how to wrestle a damn chicken.
"Now what the hell gives you the right to come in here and lecture me on something I already knew? You think it wasn't obvious to me that a the start of the GAME that I would have to work with a team in order to stand a chance against a jonin? I know i am weak, but you know I rather consider myself skilled for a genin straight out of the academy. You know how it feels to have everyone in my village watching my every move expecting me to be some god dam GENIUS just because I share half of my blood with some strong bloodline nin from your village?" She said places her hands up in annoyance.
"Well, look at me now I graduate and the best I can do according to you is run and catch some chicken with my bare hands. Wow, way to live up to expectations there, but you know what can the freakin village expect from me? I am not like some of the kids who have parents to teach them techniques, my mom runs a clothing shop and my step father is a carpenter, both are retired. And my real Dad? I haven't even seen as much as a photograph of him." She said and finally pushed in the chair stating with her body languages that she was just about done with her little rant.
"And here you go judging me and calling me weak? I am just a average academy graduate who has one useful jutsu up her sleeve just like everyone else. I may have graduated first in my class but yeah I am weak but I can promise you that I am at least a little more talented then you give me credit for MISTER. If you were trying to make me cry with your acquisitions well I am just going to leave before I give you the glory of that." She said and turned around to leave.

"Have you ever fought one trying to kill you?" His voice was low, but clear. "No matter how good your grades were in the academy, no matter what jutsu your parents did or didn't teach you, there is nothing, nothing that can truly prepare for that moment, the moment when you can't be sure you'll come out alive. Why do you think they don't give genin anything but D-Rank missions until they've undergone months of training? You may think you were hot stuff coming out of the academy, but any genin who's been training for a year or more could defeat you as you are now." He sighed. "Look, I'm not trying to insult you or make you cry, I said that for ninja just out of this academy, you're far from horrible, but you have to realize that going into a battle with too high of an expectation of your own abilities is just as deadly as going in with too low of an expectation of your enemies' abilities. Nothing can ready you for your first serious fight, but with focused training you can at least hope to, if not win, at least escape with your life. Worrying over other's expectations of your abilities is pointless. Train for yourself, for your own sake, so you don't have to live with the regret of a lost teammate and so you can continue living period. Fulfilling the expectations of others won't bring you satisfaction, or content. They'll just keep demanding more and more of you, until eventually you can't give them anything else, and they betray you or cast you aside." Jin drained the last of his tea from his cup, pushed back his chair, and stood up. He spoke again, half to himself. "Why do I even bother? Maybe I just wish there'd been someone to talk to me like this when I was a genin." Jin signaled to the waitress and left a generous tip on the table. "Look, I'm happy to help in your training while I'm here. Don't ask me why, I'm not entirely sure myself . . ." he trailed off, then murmured to himself. "Maybe I'm just bored." He brushed a long strand of white hair out of his face. "I'll be in the training field this afternoon." He paid for his tea and turned to go.

The blue haired gennin being chided could barely hear her tutor over the pounding of blood against her eardrums. A fierce shake of her head cleared the sweaty strands of her once immaculately styled hair and served to tell the older woman that she had heard her pleas but would not be listening to her advice.
“No. Again!” Those two words were all she could spit out between heaving breaths and a dull throbbing in her abdomen. The tutor was hesitant to continue with Yui’s impromptu and rather intense training session. Fool.
Her attack had barely been launched when the older woman grabbed her ward’s wrist and pushed her other arm against Yui’s stomach. Failed. Again. The girl slumped into her teacher’s hold who in turn slowly sank to the ground with her student. She held her for a moment to be sure she would not try something so pointless again. Yui was content to stay a moment before struggling from her grip. She did not need to be babied by some woman who wasn’t even blood related.
“I will train on my own then. You’re dismissed,” the Masachika girl regarded her teacher coolly. As expected, her tutor bowed and left.
If she couldn’t have a training partner, she’d practice her aim then. Her gaze fell on what she’d been using for target practice in the courtyard. The same tree she always used, the one her family allowed to deface when she refused to use conventional targets. And yet all her practice had failed her.
An Uchiha. Damn it. One that probably carried that bloodline too. No doubt when the girl was old enough some member of her family would get the idea lure her to marry into the Masachika clan; to replace the resident failure. Bringing a foreigner into the family would be worth it if they carried the blood of a clan so illustrious as the Uchiha.
In the midst of her mental rambling she finally took aim and let her weapons fly.
Then there was the bubbly girl. Was that what it was like to be normal? Not to have to think constantly about how you could be ousted in your family’s favor? So carefree, so easily amused. Yui took a moment to scoff at herself. She was even jealous of that idiot. What was the world coming to?
What did normal girls her age think about? Since she was thrown into the real world of sorts she discovered very quickly that she did not think like other children. Other children didn’t think about clan dynamics. They were more concerned with who was “it” and what “it” meant in tag. They were concerned if the slightly smashed flowers they’d found would be a suitable gift for their mother. Yui never understood such a custom. They lived with their families and saw them every day. Didn’t they already have their approval and affection? Certainly they weren’t like her, who had to earn their respect or lose it entirely.
All thoughts ceased as she was seized by the realization that she was forced to draw a breath and then immediately found herself in a gasping, coughing fit.
Neurotic. Panic attack. Possible mental instability. No physical explanation for it. All things she’d heard tossed about whenever she found herself in this situation and subsequently examined. Though Yui didn’t know what half of it meant, she had a feeling that the panic thing was the closest. Anytime she thought of her family’s approval she wondered…and panicked. What would happen to her if—no when she was finally declared a failure?

"Just stop." Rin said holding out her hand hoping that the guy would just shut up. "Did you even listen to HALF of what I said? I didn't say I was capable of some mission against another genin, I just thought it was a bit insulting that you don't even think I am capable of something beyond chicken catching." She said giving him a glare.
"I know my weaknesses, and last thing I want to do is a fight a real ninja in the state I am in. I was never naive enough to think of myself as being strong enough for a real battle yet. I think I am at least capable to fight others of my age and level and I might be able to run away if I damn well tried." She said and then gave him another glare.
"And don't give me some pity invite to train with you, I am not that pathetic to take hand outs." She said and followed him towards the door she had a small mission to do herself.
"Go find some other rookie to take under your wing." she said waving him off.

Jin returned to the small apartment he was staying in and shut the door. He stretched out on the floor and sighed. Surely there was something productive he could do with his time. Maybe write a series of titillating romance novels. No, wait, that had been done already. Required reading for every jonin, for some reason. Jin sighed. He rolled backwards, planting his hands firmly on the wooden floor behind his head, then, in one fluid motion, pushed up, at the same time extending his legs to give him the required momentum to rotate his body in mid air and land on his feet. He jumped out the window. May as well get a decent map of the village in his head while he was here. He wandered for an hour, in circles, around bends, crossing his tracks, gradually venturing further from his starting point. Eventually he passed by a large walled compound. The gate in front said "Masachika." Masachika. The clan of that Yui girl. So she lived there. Interesting. Jin continued walking along the side of the compound. He was about to turn down a side-street when the sound of a kunai or shuriken striking a wooden object sounded in his ears. Not an uncommon sound by any means, but Jin was suddenly curious to know whether it was the Yui girl or not. Having no reason to curb his curiosity, Jin decided to investigate. Boar, dog, rabbit, horse. He held him hand in front of him, palm facing up. The moisture in the air began to gradually coalesce and harden, forming a flawless ice crystal, shaped like a Z with the "tails" being perpendicular to the shaft. A completely ridiculous looking object, but it worked. Jin held it upright and lifted it just high enough that the top "tail" just peeked over the top of the wall. He looked into the lower "tail." It had taken him years to perfect the device, but Jin could now use the natural refraction properties of ice to see over the wall. The same technique also allowed him to form a magnifying glass or binoculars from the moisture around him. The precise chakra control needed to form the lenses was extremely taxing, however, and Jin only used the technique when he had no other options, or, as now, when he was bored. So. It was Yui. She was suddenly wracked with coughing. Jin hesitated over whether to go see if she was alright or no. It was really none of his business, and he could imagine someone being very pissed off with him if they caught him in their compound. Best to leave it for the moment. It was likely not life threatening. To be certain though, he would stay here until it was apparent that she was in no real danger.

There! A flash of light. The opposite side of the courtyard. Very small and reflective. Metallic? No. An unknown material. Brittle? Possibly. A threat? A spy? Even more possible.
Instead of launching the kunai at her intended target she instead aimed for whatever it was peeking over the wall. If anyone got hurt in the process it served them right for trying to peek into private property. The act of turning her stance and throwing the kunai was completed in one swift, fluid movement. She learned from her earlier embarrassment and made sure the kunai flew with both speed and precision. If it hit would be up to if her skills were on par with whoever her opponent may be. In the mean time, she'd figure out what this person was up to.
"Whoever you are, you better show yourself or flee right now before I call for help!" Yui called to the intruder.

"One of the Jonin in charge of an earth Genin team has fallen ill. You're the only one we've got to replace him, and it is vital that there be no delays. Can you . . ."
Jin finished his sentence. ". . . be the temporary leader of the team? Eh. Couldn't hurt. Give me the files on the members."
Genmaru nodded gratefully and handed him the files. "Their first mission is today. You need to meet them at the Earth training ground in an hour." Jin nodded absent mindedly as he looked through the files the jonin had given him. A small smile crept across his lips.

One Hour Later
Jin leaned against the target in the practice field. Actually, he thought, it needed a couple more words to make it completely accurate. Practice Field of Rocks. Yes. That had a much nicer ring to it. He looked at the sun. They should be here by now . . .

The Uchiha threw on a long black jacket over her colorful attire of lavender shirt and tan skirt and left her house smiling with joy of the prospect of a real instructor who may actually teach then ninjutsu instead of using them as some sort of target practice. Imagine her surprise when she arrived on the scene to find somebody that well almost made her as sick and ill as her previous leader, it was that noisy man who well knew just how to press Rin's buttons.
She scrunched her nose together and quickly placed her arms over her chest in some sort of defensive position. "Oh my god doesn't your country have just ONE GOOD jounin? What do they hate our country so much that they throw you pieces of shit leaders to the Earth Country? I would think they would at least want to give us genin a GOOD impression of your country." she said and flopped down on a rock nearby refusing to even show the man even an ounce of respect.
"God, it almost would be better to remain a genin if my country can't so much as give me a decent leader." The Uchiha mumbled to herself as she went to tracing a design in the dirt with her booted foot.

"And a good morning to you too, Uchiha." He looked up at the sun for a moment. "Whatever could be keeping your comrades? Being late to your first mission is somewhat bad form." He toyed absent-mindedly with a needle which appeared to grow out of his wrist. "Truth be told I'd much rather be on a proper mission than baby-sitting, but as the choice was between this and sitting in my quarters doing nothing all day again, I couldn't pass up the offer." His eyes glazed over for a moment, and then the needle in his hand was suddenly sent at blistering speed towards Rin's shoulder.
"Heads up."

"What the hell was that for?" She spat at him. She brushed at her side and kicked off some dirt that had gathered from her sudden dodging effort.
"If you don't mind I would rather save my energy for the mission and not dodging senbons from some show off jounin." She said with annoyance.
"Those chickens or whatever the fuck weak ass mission this is would sure like me in tip top shape I would assume." She said despising her current situation.
