Yes, technically, plants animals, all of us are machines if you get right down to it. The real kicker is if actual robots have souls. If humans are technically machines, and if people believe humans have souls, then why can't animals and for that matter artificial lifeforms?

Uhhh... no such thing as souls...

Uhhh... matter of opinion...

Much like ghosts, the devil, or the bogeymen. Also the brain waves the government is sending out.

It's only a matter of opinion if you like ignoring logic, rationality and science, I'm afraid. Although I'm fully aware that some people seem to have a 'science is bad' mentality, as they sit at their COMPUTER.

That's also a matter of opinion. Believing that it is a possibility does not automatically mean I'm ignoring science, etc. It means that it's yet to be proven either way, and quite possibly can't be. Honestly, people like me who study and use scientific principles but still leave themselves open to possibilities that aren't strictly scientific get ridiculed by both the scientific side of things AND the religious side of things.

That's not really science, or logic.

I could make up a theory that can't be disproved. Anybody can. It's bloody simple; you simply add a clause that makes it so the idea in question is always out of the reach of modern science. A 'soul' is just one of those things. Entirely unobservable, entirely subjective, entirely not there.

Forget the souls. We had this debate before and it got dumb fast. Sorry I even brought it up.

Oh, science and spirituality are once again needless enemies. How trite and predictable. And utterly depressing.

SOAP's right, we've already had that soul debate in Contro. So let's not get into it here too.
