Favorite Zelda Game

That was my all time favorite. The storyline was great, and it had one of the best last-boss scenes ever in a Zelda game. Twilight Princess was a good game as well, but the reason I chose Ocarina of Time was because it helped to change the Zelda franchise so much. It redefined Link in many ways and it was Game-of-the-Year in 1999. Plus, it was the first Zelda game that just really interested me.
But no disrespect to Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess. I love those games as well. It's just that Ocarina of Time has done so much for the Zelda franchise.

I tried to pick OoT up and play it again, but I actually got bored of it. I'll pick MM back up once its on the Virtual Consol, and I'm hoping to play WW again soon.
For my favorite 2D game...I'm kinda torn between Minish Cap and ALttP...they were both great. Although...I suppose FSA could be considered a 2D game, couldn't it...it was really good, too, especially once I finally found people to play it with.

Hmm, really? I usually rush through a game the first time around, taking all that I can, and then after finishing it once, I play through again, much more thoroughly. It wasn't until the third or fourth time that I completed it perfectly though...TP is the only game where I've played so constantly though. I think the longest time I went after beating one file, but not starting over, was about 2 weeks. XD Though as I played it more, sessions grew shorter, and more frequent.Beat it six times? For some reason, after the first time I beat TP on 100%, I didn't feel like doing it again for some reason, where as Majora's Mask and Windwaker I can play countless times again for some reason.

That said, I've never been as excited to play through a Zelda game again as I am with TP. It's so 'damn long' that I can't help but marvel at how much Nintendo crammed into that main quest, and with such variety, too. I loved when MM and WW started adding mandatory sidequests in between dungeons, but I couldn't believe just how many Nintendo put into TP, and how diverse they were. Of course, that would mean nothing if they sucked, but luckily they ended up being fantastic. Stuff like the first King Bulbin Battle, the Carriage Escort, Sumo Wrestling, the Lanayru Bug Quest etc. all awesome missions. That's what I look forward to the most when I replay TP, and with other Zeldas you only got a fraction of that.

I voted for Majora's Mask, and was surprised to see that it was leading in the poll. The reasons it is my favourite Zelda game are that the concept behind the gameplay is unique and refreshing, although getting used to the 3 day system was a pain to begin with and compared to OoT the opening scenes of the game felt boring and overdrawn (although you don't have to listen to you fairy tell you how to open a door, which when you're playing through the game for like the seventh time is really annoying) the rest of game is probably one of the most rewarding gameplay experiences I've ever had. The over-arching storyline ma not be anything as grand as other Zelda titles, but each foray into one of the four compass directions of the world map opens up an entirely new set of scenarios, and the story builds up in these subtle ways, more concerned with the everyday lives of the characters who populate the world and how they deal with the catastrophic disruption which is threatening their existence. In this Zelda game I felt more compelled to complete it because I wanted to help the characters survive rather than I wanted to be rewarded with some more story telling.
Also being able to play as characters who weren't Link (for all intents and purposes) was pretty cool, and the fact that you could replay finished boss battles was a neat touch. Oh and this Zelda game I htink has the best selection of mini games and side quests of any Zelda title (the mini game in OoT suck big time) OK I'm getting carried away now but I really do love this game.
hmm just finished replaying FFVII perhaps I should dig out my N64?!?

ZimZum, you do have a point about playing as other characters besides Link. You could be a Goron, Zora, etc. And each form had different and unique abilities. Plus, the three-day thing kind of gave the game a little more meaning. In my opinion, this was one of Link's toughest adventures ever. It also had pretty challenging mini games, because you had to be at certain times during certain days to do certain things. (e.g. the Kafie/Anju side quest) I enjoyed Majora's Mask a lot.
LinksLove, you were also right about Twilight Princess. I also have the Wii version, and the game was fun The story was also great. Some people had minor complaints about the game like "there were no octoroks" or "The game was too short" Twilight Princess was relatively long for a Zelda game, and the fact that there were no octoroks didn't stop it from being a good game. I liked it a lot.
I chose Ocarina of Time not for graphics- or gameplay-reasons, but for the impact it made on the Zelda franchise. Ocarina-of-Time was so big that this incarnation of Link made many cameo appearances, like Soul Calibur and the first two Smash Bros. games. On Smash Bros. Brawl, their using TP Link, and I think that's a great idea. Some people I know didn't even care for the N64 until Ocarina of Time came out. The game was so great for its time. Even though Majora and Twilight are without a doubt two of the greatest Zelda games, Ocarina of Time made the greatest impact for the franchise.

I feel so cliche for voting for OoT, but I can see how so many of us love the N64 games most of all.
Boo to picking something else for the sake of being different! Yaybeerbeing cliche!
Wooooow. Very different opinions here, I can see. XD;; I went with Ocarina of Time because I love it and I think it rocks.

Very few Zelda games have good replay value, and considering how damn long it is I'm not ready to start a second TP file for a little while still.
Long? You must be playing a different game from me. TP is not long. Now A Link to the Past, that's long.
Once again, you must be playing a different game from me. Except for the Bug Quest, none of the missions you've mentioned were side-quests. They were compulsory. You had to do them.

No. TP is much longer than ALttP. It just is.Long? You must be playing a different game from me. TP is not long. Now A Link to the Past, that's long.
He said mandatory side-quests. You know exactly what he meant. Don't be so pedantic.Once again, you must be playing a different game from me. Except for the Bug Quest, none of the missions you've mentioned were side-quests. They were compulsory. You had to do them.

Still no LA votes?
I wonder if I could change it to the kind of poll where you tick your top three... But then everyone would have to vote again.
Hey, I wouldn't sweat the LA thing. I like the game myself. This was the first Zelda game where I was actually upset about a temple I couldn't beat. In fact, it was the first Zelda game that I just actually played. I loved the game's storyline. I'm still wondering what Marin's wish to the Wind Fish was.
But again, don't worry about LA. Who knows, maybe LA will come into the poll with many more votes, but still, if it's your favorite Zelda game, that shouldn't make you sad. Don't let other opinions change your mind about something that you like. I'm always surrounded by people who talk about Final Fantasy a lot. They talk about it so much, and even though they respect Zelda, they think Final Fantasy's better. That never stopped Zelda from continuing to be my favorite franchise. This poll is very interesting. You should keep it the way it is, you know, just to see what other votes you'll get.

Perhaps my favorite part about it is that, once you find the skip-screen glitch, you get almost an entirely new game.

I wonder how many people have played OoT recently...
*Votes for a better game*
I'm actually playing it right now.
OoT is my favourite game in the series.
I can't understand why people think LttP is the best game. To be honest... I get bored of it in 10 mins. Everything looks the same, the enemies are way too predictable, I've just never really liked it.
Mind you, the 2D zelda games have never kept my attention. I've only ever beaten OoT, MM, WW, and TP. The 2D games are fun for a little while, then the completely repetitive game play, and lack of anything else to do gets boring. I like the 3D games for all the side quests and mini games, which are more multiple and fun then the ones in the 2D games.
And thus, I am looking forward to link's Crossbow training lol.
